There are many sources of noise: power supply, HDDs, GPU heatsink, CPU heatsink, case fans, coil whine... It also doesn't help if you have a case that's full of mesh or is made of thin material.

Building one yourself will save you ALOT of money and you will have MUCH BETTER performance. IF you like WASTING money then buy one from IBUYPOWER. This is the least shittiest one I can find for $1070 HOWEVER IF YOU PRICE OUT EACH COMPONENT(estimations): I5-2400 ~180 560Ti ~220 Win7 ~100 mobo ~70 Ram ~50 HDD ~100 PSU ~50 Case ~50 mouse+keyboard ~20 optical drive ~20 adds up to ~860 Which means they make ATLEAST $210 Profit AND the computer sucks. As in, Its horrible. Thanks for responding...I'm lazy and like wasting money... Should i get the computer you linked? It seems like no one has bought it in like the last 4 months

I can turn it up, but the louder noise is still coming from elsewhere. Where the Radeon fan has a soft sound the loud noise is more high-pitched. I'm guessin the CPU fan with its 3375 rpm is the culprit?

Your best bet is to open the case side panel with the PC on and try to pinpoint it for sure. If necessary, run some CPU stress test like Prime 95 for like 10 seconds, it should ramp up the CPU fan to max immediately and you'll be able to tell by the noise characteristics.

What is your budget? Up to $1000, including an OS and monitor, but the lower the better of course. What is your resolution? Likely either 1680x1050 or 1920x1080, depending on the monitor. What are you using it for? Pretty much just gaming. For the foreseeable future, that will include Diablo III and Guild Wars 2. What is your upgrade cycle? At least 3 years. When do you plan on building it? Within the next week or two. Do you plan on overclocking? Not necessary. Do you need an Operating System? Yes. Currently her campus computer store is offering Windows 7 Professional for $125, but I figure Home Edition for cheaper is probably better. Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? Not necessary Where are you buying your parts from? We are located in Canada, so likely either from Newegg or NCIX. Thanks in advance guys, I really appreciate it!

That totals ~800CAD for the tower. I would suggest a Dell Ultrasharp 21.5" for your monitor 1920x1080 $259 http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/Monitors_Flat_Panel_Widescreen/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=bsd&cs=cabsdt1&sku=320-2736&~ck=baynoteSearch&baynote_bnrank=0&baynote_irrank=0 Any monitor cheaper and it doesn't matter as long as you like it. That would bring the total to 1060CAD. Hm...

Most educational institutions should have an employee program with Dell that you can take advantage of. I know for a fact that my association with University of Melbourne and RACV means I can get 10-15% off basically everything on Dell's website. I cannot believe Dell is only nice to Australians so I'd definitely try getting a coupon code from somewhere.

My Budget - I am aiming for somewhere between 600-800, although if there is truly something that would make a huge difference, i am sure i could wait a while longer to Complete the build. Resolution- To be Honest IM not exactly sure, IM not going to Bull sh!t and say i know What resolution i will be gaming at because at this time i dont have a monitor (IM on a lap top currently) but from the research that i have done 1280x1024 seems to be a good standard resolution to be using for gaming (mainly SC2). and if this is incorrect and i Sound like an idiot, please feel free to correct me. What I am using it for - gaming, primarily SC2, and general youtube, internet, etc. Upgrade Cycle- To be Honest i would say a longer upgrade cycle, but if i find the Money i of course would be willing to add some performance to my computer. When i plan on building - I have the Money now, but am very patient so if i need to wait for a certain sale or season when somethings price may dip significantly, i can wait. Overclocking- To be Honest i just need a great gaming computer for SC2, and if this is something that i should consider i can, but i am again not computer build Proficient so if it is not neccesary then i wont do it. OS-I do not have an OS but am most certain id be using windows 7 home, so no need to Point me in any direction there unless i am making a Bad choice. Second GPU- doubt it. parts- New egg is my source for learning and looking for parts, although there is closeby frys so if their deals are better or can be better i would Love to know. In addition, a good monitor for reasonably cheap would be a great addition. omg long post, but i appreciate anyone with information to heLp me. -madison.
