Everything is officially bought:
CPU: i5-3570k IB MOBO: Asrock Z77 Pro4 RAM: G-Skill Ripjaws 2x4 Case: LIAN LI First Knight Series PSU: OCZ ZS Series 550w GPU: Sapphire Radeon 6950 Monitor: 24' Hanns-G Windows 7
After everything, including monitor, windows, and accessories, the final build price was somwhere between $1000 and $1100. I love the build so far; now let's hope I don't screw up assembly when it arrives in a couple days. and can anyone tell if I need to order any additional adapters/wires from just glancing at the build? i.e. do I need a SATA cable for my OEM DVD drive?
|
SATA cables are included with the motherboard.
Build seems overpriced.
|
how so? everything i've bought has been at a ridiculous discount:
IB @ $210 Radeon @ 200 Case / PSU @ 90 24" Monitor @ 130 Windows @ 90 RAM @ 40 Mobo @ 120 DVD @ 20 Accesssories @ 20
I live in CA so I pay sales tax on everything, which adds to the price I guess. I have no shipping costs though because of ShopRunner. Also should've mentioned that I got $40+ in MIR as well, though we'll see if those actually ever come.
Is it really overpriced? I thought I killed the price, to be honest.

|
got it.
thanks again for everything, I'm sure I'll need your help again though when it comes to assembly.

I'm planning on getting an intel i5 2500k cpu and overclocking it. My motherboard is going to be an asrock p67 pro3 1155 socket . 8 gigs of g-skill ripjaws ram and also im going to be getting a pretty sweet cpu fan, can't remember the name of it but, anyone feel like recommending a good mid level graphics card? somewhere in the £100-200 price range?

7850 is probably your best bet. NVM its more expensive than I thought.

£100-200 is a huge price range for graphics cards. You get the performance you pay for.
For around 180-200 you could get either a HD 7850 or GTX 560ti 448 cores (there are a few under 200, many are 200+ though). Or if you prefer to spend less (and get lower performance), GTX 560ti is 1 step down, HD 6870/GTX 560 is another step down. Not huge steps though. Maybe about 10-15% difference for each step.

I am about to buy a 560ti preferably msi with like a shader clock of 1800mhz and like 448 cuda cores, but its 100 bucks over my budget, is there any other good 560ti cards with equivalent or at least decent specs that isn't msi? btw my max budget is 200 bucks

Hi guys
I've read the forum for a while but decided to join up and ask for a build. I'm from the UK so my budget is in pounds and I'm ordering from places here, hope that's ok!
I'm after a budget build, max £450, for the whole tower to run on my existing 1080p monitor. I'll be using it mostly for gaming and uni work, but also running some relatively heavy audio software and protein modelling software so I would really like 8 gig of ram if the budget allows it. I have no preference between AMD/intel and nVidia/AMD, just after the best performance on my budget.
This will be my first pc for a while, I've been using my 2009 13" MacBook Pro running windows 7 ultimate x64 on boot camp, so not sure what my upgrade cycle will be, I don't expect I'd be in a position to upgrade much within two years though. I'll be building in the next month or so. I would overclock if It was the best option for bang per buck but I've never done it before so I'd be happy not doing it if it doesn't make a huge difference. I don't need an OS in that budget and I don't plan on installing a second GPU. I'm not set on buying from anywhere particular but I've been browsing amazon.co.uk and Novatech so far, and I'd shop around once I have an idea of my build.
Thanks guys.

$200 cannot afford a GTX 560 Ti yet alone a GTX 560 Ti 448.
This is your best option for $200 (with promo code EMCYTZT1523: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102987 Performance is similar to GTX 560 Ti.

Agreed with iTzSnypah. Most 460's easily overclock at *least* about 15%.
Bad price/performance beyond a certain point is nothing new though. For those interested in the best value, the 460 is great but if you want more performance, yes you can end up paying ~50% more for only ~10-15% more performance (this is the case of the 560ti vs 460).

think under 200$ (ofc im not good with $ prices) its either a 460 1gb or a 6870. and i agree, the 460 1gb is a value monster if you OC it.

I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I need a new computer...and as i'm lazy/don't know anything about computers I was most likely going to get the computer from Best Buy or something. I just need a good gaming computer, as i play anything from SC2/Diablo/Shooters/MMORPGS...( Also i'd like to be able to stream SC2 again, but at a much better quality).
Has anyone recently bought one from Best Buy, or have any suggestions? Any help is appreciated!

Best Buy sucks balls for selection of desktop computers (Last time I went there, there was only 3 different desktop computer options). Building one yourself will save you ALOT of money and you will have MUCH BETTER performance. IF you like WASTING money then buy one from IBUYPOWER. This is the least shittiest one I can find for $1070
HOWEVER IF YOU PRICE OUT EACH COMPONENT(estimations): I5-2400 ~180 560Ti ~220 Win7 ~100 mobo ~70 Ram ~50 HDD ~100 PSU ~50 Case ~50 mouse+keyboard ~20 optical drive ~20
adds up to ~860 Which means they make ATLEAST $210 Profit AND the computer sucks. As in, Its horrible.

Hi guys.
I have a rather noisy motherboard and plan to exchange it too something more silent. The motherboard is also one of the cheapest/weakest part of my setup, so the next should be at least up to par with the rest of my hardware, possibly a bit better.
I have a ASRock M3A770DE that I want to get rid of.
The rest of my setup:
AMD Phenom II X4 965e ATI Radeon HD 5700 4 GB DDR3 - SDRAM Samsung HD 103sj ATA Device
Which motherboard can I get that is compatible with these and silent? I am looking for something at least at the level of the rest of my equipment, but better is good too, and I am willing to spend 150 - 200 US dollars.
Thank you in advance for your recommendations.

Your motherboard is silent as it has no active cooling. Getting a new motherboard without a new processor is essentially a waste of money.

Oh. So the active cooling is from my PSU I guess? I don't think the radeon cooler is that loud..
Well, I assume the reason you say getting a new MB without a new processor is a waste is that my processor is oldish? The thing is, my setup is fine atm for my needs, if it wasn't for the noise. So I just need a suggestion to get rid of that.
Thanks for your response.
