This means that the player will be permanently unable to log in to Battle.net to play StarCraft II with his or her account. Playing StarCraft II legitimately means playing with an unaltered game client." Just wondering what others using custom hotkeys think of this. Clearly Blizzard are aiming this at people using hacks, not simply editing a hotkeys text file but it makes me a bit nervous now to be doing this. I really wish they'd just add a custom hotkeys option to the game. If you read that blog it is clearly talking about changing the game files in such way so that you gain a clear advantage over your opponent, aka cheating. It is so easy for blizzards warden to detect modified hotkey. If they wanted they would ban everyone tomorrow, hell they read TL forums lol. They obviously do not see it as cheating. I think they should specifically adress the customized hotkey question. This is 2010 and every game should have that. It would be really harsh of them to start banning people because they use a different keyboard setup than the one they are forcing on me. It's not like I am using a macro, i just use a keyboard setup that suits my hands.

@ Tamer Take a look at this thread please: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=154298 Could you perhaps update your tool so, that it creates such a file instead of editing the MPQ? That should be better for future patches etc. as well

That should be better for future patches etc. as well You can already do this in the current version. Load from mpq, make the modifications you like, then click save to file rather than save to mpq. As you may already know you can then add this to any file with the extension .SC2Hotkeys and put it in your "my documents -> Starcraft 2 -> Hotkeys" folder and it will appear in your in-game drop-down menu. Finally we can have custom hotkeys without being "cheaters" lol

I didnt find any *.SC2Hotkeys file on my system^^ battle.net is currently offline, so i cant test it atm.

What I did, and yall should do, is before you make any changes to MPQs or game files, is BACK UP THE ENTIRE C:\PROGRAM FILES\STARCRAFT II FOLDER Then make your changes to the MPQs, and then save backups of the changed files (your new hotkeys) to somewhere safe, like with your backup of the Starcraft II folder. When I ran the patch, I got a checksum error. I replaced the single MPQ file in which I made the change, but then I got an error in StarCraft II Editor.exe, which doesn't make any sense. So I just renamed my current "program files\Starcraft II" folder to "program files\Starcraft IIxxx" and copied over the backup. It patched properly, and I deleted the old "program files\Starcraft IIxxx" and applied my backup of my hotkeys. RULE #1 OF MODDING: BACK. UP. EVERYTHING. As for your guys' problem, I don't think Tiller can help. Its not like he has your local files. And apparently you guys didn't back up. Here's a link to my "D:\Starcraft II Backup\oldStarCraft II\Versions\Base15405\patch-enUS.SC2Archive" [url blocked] I don't think it will help, because it didn't work for me, but here's to hoping. It probably didn't work for me because patch 1.0.3 was applied and I didn't bother backing up. So there was a mixture of patched files in my directory, and when I applied my backup, it was from an earlier patch, which the Updater didn't like. So when I replaced the entire folder, it replaced all the files with files from one patch, so that was able to compute since all the files were from a single patch. If that file doesn't work, reinstall. Not that big of a deal - just time consuming. AND BACKUP. Edit: If you read inside his tool, you'll find "Notice: for everyone who wants to change hotkeys make a backup copy of StarCraft II\Versions\BaseBuild\patch-Lang.SC2Archive" If you don't have my build or aren't US, I guess you're doubly buggered. Edit edit: Well I just installed Ladik's MPQ Editor and extracted GameHotkeys.txt Uploaded here: [url blocked] Hopefully it'll work for you. I included the surrounding folders and files, because heck it's only 1/2 a meg and more is always better than less. This should be version and language neutral, though really what the heck do I know?

Just dont copy any files, and reinstall Starcraft II. After you patched the game, just use the current version of the SC2Tools to edit your keys new. gl hf

Any tips? And no I don't want to edit the irrelevant keys using the "legal" method. I wish Blizzard soon develops some real solution to this hotkey issue. I mean you would take it for granted that all modern games have an implemented tool to manually edit hotkeys. *sigh*
