In this screenshot, it looks like the player is queuing 4 supply depots/bunkers(can't tell very well from the image) after the factory. Does anyone know anything about this? (the lines connecting the buildings)

SCVs can queue buildings. Once the SCV finishes building the first Supply Depot, it will automatically go to build the second one and so on until it finishes.

Cool, that sounds handy. Do you know if it's only scvs?

You shift click and make many buildings. It's not that complicated.

You could do that in warcraft3 too. It's not all that useful though.

It's a modification on shift-clicking. With a probe, you and go "b" => "p" to build a pylon, then hold down shift, and the green pylon image will remain and you can continue to build additional pylons in a single stream of command. The line is to designate the order in which buildings will be made.

This new way to queue building orders will be immensely beneficial to Protoss as they can now build 20+ buildings in under 30 seconds just by holding down shift. I speak from experience that building 15 gateways now can take merely tens of seconds now as opposed to SC:BW where you had to wait until the building was down and warping, then you could build another building.

Why does it suck for Zerg anyway? Zerg don't need to build nearly as many buildings as Protoss or Terran do. Overlords, etc. Just make 3 at a time o_O

Nah, it works when you have multiple builders selected also, so if you select 10 drones you can shift click 10 creep colonies and they go to build one each. Zerg wins just as much as everyone else on this.

When you shift que a building drone.. it pops out of existance and all of space time crumbles.

God, what a noob, you didn't know? O..... nm.

So when you build things, and units are in the way, do they move out?

Hmm, they didnt do this for sc? Was a while since i played, but they probably didnt then. Well in wc3 you can place buildings right on top of your own units at any time and units will move away, and when you shift out the buildings the same thing happens when the worker goes to try to build there. Ofcourse just your own units moves, not your allies or enemies.

Good, so you can still manner pylon, but building cannons in your mineral line won't be a freaking hassle.

Well you hardly built anything in WC3 in large quantities, except the tower-spammers. Will probably be most useful for protoss, or turretbuilding for terran.

I dont think this will change much. Building exactly one supply depot at the same time all the time doesnt have to be the optimal thing to do. In the early game you will want to wait between building the supplys and in the end maybe build many at the same time. And what if you queue up 3 supplys and when the 2nd is about to start building you build marines for all your minerals and its cancled and you dont notice? I think it might be easier for noobs who want to build 9 depots at the same time and get 50/100 supply and not care about it for some time... But for good players... I dont think it will change much. You will still have to keep track of what the worker is doing all the time.

Um, queing buildings is just like queing units, it costs resources as soon as you click em out. A person who just clicks out 10 supply depots will get owned hard since he have no mins to build units for.

This helps noobs who stack resources, but for pros who use it costantly its useless.

Good in that case my point is even stronger I wasnt sure if the resources were payed when you queued or when you started building. Buildingqueues are different in different game :s Are you sure its implemented this way? I hope it is.

In wc3 it is, and changing it would be like changing unit build ques to take resources when they start building instead of when you click it.

There is one difference though compared to units, you can que up additional buildings without the money, and in that case he will try to use the money you have when he gets to the buildsite, if you dont have money he cancels the build and goes to the next one and thus killing the buildque. BUT if you do have the money it will be payed instantly.

Pros wont use it since its way to unpredictable when your hovering around 0 mins, and if you had 100 mins at one time during queing you just locked those mins for a minute.

building stuff takes time, it should not be made easier.. we dont need it.. just one of all the things we should have to do... Does wc3 players play in "the zone" at all?

This will make a big difference middle late game when you have a constant cash flow. Cueing 10 supply depots (as long as you dont have to pay for them all at once) will make for another easeir way to macro. And you can't compare this to zerg, yes building 3 overlords with zerg is easy, but its easy because zerg has a lot more macro to worry about as compared to other races AND you have to pay for all 3 overlords at once. So yes this is a imba for zerg....

it's incredibly useful for Tower Defense

it has its drawbacks though, because if you run out of money midway through your queue, then it'll stop the whole thing, and you just wasted a bunch of clicks.

also, not terribly useful at the higher levels the same reason queuing up units isn't

This would have helped so much playing PVT. Once the macro war starts you can shift click with two scvs and forget about supply depots. This would help so much when the toss is dropping HT and reaver all over the place and your moving ur vultures around his expos. Along with two building queues for the factory the Toss could get rocked hard just because he couldn't harrass the Terran.

Wait, did I read wrong? was this possible in bw? o.O

Some of the responses in this topic give me a headache...get some reading comprehension lessons ffs.

It's a good change, and the above posters kinda explained it, nothing is needed to be added. For good players it won't make much of a difference.
