Rapid Fire should be in the default hotkey profile

It’s so integral to playing the game well that it makes zero sense to not have it enabled for every skill in the game and it’s easy to not use if you so wish.

Rapid fire=hold down hotkey and wave mouse.
Normal casting=don’t hold down the hotkey + click left mouse button.

Easy fix too; simply add this line to the default hotkey configuration;

TargetChoose=LeftMouseButton,Q,W,E,R,T,Y,U,I,O,P,A,S,D,F,G,H,J,K,L,Z,X,C,V,B,N,M

and put a big, fat notice for the next 6+ months on the front page of sc2’s bnet page/a temporary loading screen which explains the change, kind of like what used to happen when new co-op commanders were released.

Cheap and is a HUGE QoL improvement for new players.

Some of its uses are basically macros, which are normally banned from competition.

An argument i've been making for years. Rapid fire gives players advantages in ladder play, because not all players know about the function, sure they can map their keys just like everyone else but to allow it on the ladder makes little to no sense since not everyone even knows about the feature.

I don't agree with this. Ladder is where you go to get competitive games, and for some people, to improve their skills. Part of skill involves knowledge.

A parallel I can draw is an "en passant" in chess. At lower levels, a lot of players don't know that this is a valid move, and yes, it can give an "advantage" to players who know how to use it. But when you go up high enough in the skill ladder, there is eventually a point where everyone at that level of competition knows of this.

Just because the game doesn't explicitly tell you that a feature exists, doesn't mean it unfairly provides an advantage. The onus is on the player to learn.

Or Protoss players will have to press z and click 8 times to build 8 zealots versus holding down z and just spread their mouse.

It should either be banned, or default (preferable with how embedded it has become), but the current situation of setting up a feature for pure benefit to make some things more usable is pretty meh.

Yeah, it's kind of shady imo but I think changing the status quo this late in the game would probably be unwise.
Pros and basically anyone who's decent at the game have gotten used to rapid fire - and changing it would cause a huge, huge upset. Plus the game is kind of balanced around this. Changing it would cause spells or abilities to become significantly weaker on a case-by-case basis.

So the other option is to make it baseline for everyone!

Are there any areas that rapid fire is actually an issue vs a small QoL improvement? Having various wrist and hands issues rapid warp just reduces strain for me and is only particularly useful when you want to spam one type of unit anyway.

Some of the uses aren’t hugely intuitive really and I feel they should be integrated better into the client, but equally that seems unlikely in current era.

I mean I’ve followed the game enough to have stupid amounts of posts on this forum and played on and off for 10 years and only discovered how to use the alt+hotkey function relatively recently, and a few more optimal ways to use rapid fire relatively recently too.

It's probably too late for that, and having a separate control scheme for one ability is also meh.

At this point it should probably be default, or there should be a single setting toggle that lets you enable it for everything.

It's also important for things like Warp Gates, Disruptors, Creep Tumors, etc. It's not just a "I'm spamming 1 unit" thing.

Maybe I'm missing something, but this is how I've been playing since forever.
I always notice pro players casting down creep tumors crazy fast.

Sorry for my confusion, but how would I turn this functionality on? (if it gets banned I gladly will stop using it, but for now it seems like a big advantage).

When I have many ravagers, I always felt it was clunky to cast Corrosive Bile.
