The other options were Stats and HM. Those were just knee-jerk reactions to his not having to immediately play Reynor/Dark.

Meh, still an harder bracket than what he had in a lot of previous international tournaments. Especially now that ZvP doesn’t seem as Z favored as in the past. Expected result nonetheless.

For the Ro8, he could have faced Rogue or TY instead of Zest. Rogue may have been the worse opponent for him, but TY would have been better than Zest. It was also impossible for him to get Dark before the finals, and to get Reynor before the semis. So Serral didn't have a lucky draw in the playoffs. His group, on the other hand, was easy for sure. Much better group than what the 1st seed got.

Both Serral and Reynor came second in their groups. ro12 matches are all 2nd vs 3rd.# Clem might have been the hardest ro12 opponent he could have gotten (out of HeroMarine, Stats, Clem). But at the same time he fell on the opposite side of the bracket to Reynor, Rogue, and Dark, which I think made him the favourite to make the final from that half.

Yes I was thinking of Zergs in the bracket side, rather than just the ro12. Facing Dark was only possible in the finals, but may have been likely to have Rogue and Reynor in the same side. And of course... + Show Spoiler + PLACE MARU AND ROGUE IN OPPOSITTE SIDES FOR ONCE

Really damn tricky Ro12 for Serral but a rather decent rest of the bracket. Even Clem isn’t a disaster, feel the trio of Serra/Reynor/Clem matches often go to the final set and if any of them lose they could play again the next day and win.

High early pressure on one front with insane micro preventing creep spread and drawing all queens for defense. Serral has always been good at balancing micro and macro (including injects and placing creep tumors) and defending on multiple fronts, while trying to get to that lategame stage with advantage and good map control. Its mind boggling to see people talk about who is better without considering favorable match-ups of individual players and stylistic differences.
