I would love to get any advice for my goals for the new year: Wake up earlier (and actually do something useful with the extra time), spend less on take out, get in a bit of exercise each day, stop dying to Marine, Tank, Liberator pushes.
I have played this game for 10 years on and off, and the longest I've ever been GM was 3 days.
I want to finish an entire season in GM. And not even good GM. Like the bottom of NA GM.
Life related:
The world benefits enormously from open source software. I'm going to:
1. Contribute to repositories that I have literally built my career on. 2. Contribute to repositories that make the world a better place. 3. Find some missing need in the Starcraft content creator space and code something to solve that problem. I'm thinking of building some software for streamers to automatically generate replay packs and upload them to discord for their subs after their streams are done. Kinda niche problem, but https://i.imgur.com/ynezOPR.png
My 2020 SC2 goal was getting master and I did it. (ok ok low M3, but I'm proud of it) For 2021, I'd like to play almost everyday and enjoy my ladder games with less anxiety And maybe go watch an offline event... I hope we can
The usual goal of playing ladder regularly instead of a few games every week and hopefully reach M1 with all races ( I'm M2 Zerg/Terran and M3 Protoss for now ).
Also I'd like to have more opportunities to help other players improve or give advice/answer their questions.
Lose 50 lbs through proper diet and weightlifting. I'm turning 30 next year and I'm tired of being overweight. I've struggled with poor eating and exercise habits most of my life, but this is the year I'm getting in shape. I'm doing better than I did the last couple years but I can definitely do better.
Improve my Zerg in BW, I just started playing this year so I'm only E rank and have a loooong way to go. Game is fun but man ladder is brutal sometimes lol.
Practice guitar more consistently instead of trying to cram less often
SC2 Related - I want to play Terran again, but I've been told by my doctor i need to keep my salt levels down. Especially in teams. (in other words, advice on not giving into my emotions and flaming my teammates for keeping me trapped in Plat1) - Grow my tournaments and events
Life related - - overcome my imposter syndrome by reaching out more often seeking opportunities (ie approach potential clients, potential sponsors, sc2 pros and personalities) - be more conscience of those around me and their considerations.
Hi, I'm a mid 20's SC2 terran player. I've been playing on and off for about 6-7 years now. I've played some BW and watched a lot of BW.
I'm struggling to make it to masters on the EU server, and am currently hard-stuck <4000 MMR in diamond. This year, I played about 2-3 games every other day for 3-4 months and made no progress; even though I watch a lot of content like Maru/TY/HeroMarine and keep up with all the latest uThermal videos. Before anyone criticizes the lack of gametime, I want to emphasize that I engage in a lot of mindful game self-evaluation, and honestly the game is just really tilting. I'm frustrated and upset honestly and tired, especially since I once made low masters in HOTS but can't seem to get back to masters. Anyways, to make my plea for help more specific: how am I supposed to play TvT? It seems like such a stupid matchup with all the reaper shenanigans, raven bullshit, and turtle-mech.
Fan for 10 years and excited for the 11th year of SC2! Happy new year! You've all dedicated a lot of time to being good at Starcraft, plus producing huge amounts of SC content. There's only so much time, so do you ever feel pulled towards other things you want to become better at?
Hi, first time fan, long time viewer. I have a resolution to dramatically increase UpATreeZelda's hatred of twitch chat but not sure if it's too ambitious of a goal. I feel like I did a pretty good job with this in 2020 but 2021 it'll be hard to top how much I can make Sal miserable. Would love any advice you have! Thanks! -Anonymous Twitch Chatter
But actually, I'm going to make an effort to stop self-sabotaging myself when things are going well and go back to creating content for enjoyment instead of concern for success.
My resolution is to learn how pros minimize the ammount of mistakes they make and play consistently.
When I play at my best I'm at one level, the problem is I cannot play at that level consistently. One match I play excellent, the next one I missclick and send my units to die. The next one I missclick my probes and clump them near a mine. The next one I forget to research stim, or add units to my building hotkeys so I'm not building army for a minute. I'm diamond 3, and a lot of times I lose because because of the most asinine stuff. If I could play my best all the time I'm sure I would be at least diamond 1. There must be a way pros and high level players learn how to reduce their random stupid mistakes or bad luck (luck is totally a factor in this game, but you can reduce it's influence through skill). The answer isn't just "play better" because missclicks or circumstantial stuff happen to everyone. There must be a way to practice or specifically reduce the impact of those mistakes to be able to play more consistently.
