Taking those two contrasting tournaments into consideration, it might be best to refrain from making any grand statements about the state of Koreans vs Foreigners. I appreciate the effort ![]() It was a weird tournament. I don't think I ever did worse liquibet-wise but I still climbed a few places so others did even worse.

There is no argument to be had. Despite what someone may have written in Liquipedia or on the forums, Flash was never titled "bonjwa," firstly because of his rivalries, secondly because when he rose over them he became "God," making bonjwa a dated term that people with little to no understanding thereof try to resurrect every so often. One could argue that "bonjwa" was no longer a viable term after Bisu lost to Mind, or that the term fell out of favor because TBLS made it more difficult to draft such a monochromatic storyline, or because the audience had simply moved away from it in reaction to the aforementioned reasons, or any combination thereof - but to claim that Flash or Serral are "bonjwa" is an anachronistic error, point blank. Tell me I'm wrong. User was temp banned for this post.

Although Serral struggles quite a bit this year ... especially Reynor seems to have his number in WCS ... he still is a great player. And he is much more consistent then others, f.e. Maru, who still has to prove that he can be great (and constant) in Weekend Tournaments, who just are another format then GSL. And yeah, it is funny if you look in some other topics ... especially the last one about community update ... that the game should only be balanced around GSL ... and toss is imba because korean zerg would be weak and wcs region doesn't count ... nice to see reality messing up this biased comments :D And nobody can argue this time the losses only came by Serral. 6 out of 8 foreigners managed to win a series (or a Bo1 in Team Challange) against a korean player. Just hoping Blizzard (/Activision) will continue this sort of tournaments next year.

Of course by Serral as well, but ... it's Serral, so nobody should be really surprised about that part. Interesting how no one is surprised after the fact but not a single TL writer predicted that Serral will win this tournament? https://tl.net/forum/starcraft-2/550555-gsl-vs-the-world-2019-preview

Hopefully if they do this tournament next year they could make all the ro16 match-ups be korean vs foreigner, and then the team match to be team korea vs team world. Maybe an improvement when it comes to the voting stage also, but probably just gets too complicated tbh.

Serrals "worst" performances in the past two years still got him to third/fourth place in stacked tournaments. Edit: Disappointed in Maru though, yet again he failed to live up to his reputation. Voting Inno over him in the TLGOAT survey was definitely the right choice.

And while it he doesnt show huge emotions it is so important to keep emotions in check on this level and we've had a lot of stonefaced koreas as well through the years.

even the koreans are now saying it's an honor to play the best sc2 player. It seems he is now globally recognized as the best.. maybe.. one day.. he might actually be number 1 on the TL power rank!

Its just sad to see the only salt in here again, i hope all the people who hate Blizzard, balance and the best player not being a korean could just leave so we can have more fun.

Where are the cheer, it was a great even and lots of really good games. GG to Serral he really earned it, he had the hardest path of all the semifinalists but did it anyway. Kinda weid the team match segment is written as if the foreigners won, they lost. If you take away the score and read the text you would think they won ![]() Rage against infestors is mostly due to TIME losing to Elazer I think, the chinese community went mad. Foreigners "lost" the team match but they significantly improved over the 1-7 of the last two years; knowing the pairings in advance, 3-5 was definitely the most likely result even if Reynor disappointed and Heromarine upset Trap(Elazer-Dark and Special-Classic were coinflips and there was a little chanche of Showtime beating Stats and TIME beating Maru, while Serral beating this version of soO and TY defeating Neeb basically were a lock).

Having a monthly Power Ranking this year, I am confident Serral will be #1 in the next considering Dark, Classic and Stats all had a relatively weak tournament compared to Serral's dominant run and considering he was placed #2 in August's PR.

This is actually long overdue, they always gave Maru benefit of the doubt over Serral in 2018 and Dark after GSL. Now they finally have to give it to Serral over the rest, everything else would be ridiculous.

Almost all the comments are negative/balance whine, while the tournament was ton of fun and we’ve seen great games, no idea why people have to complaine always, play tetris then and gtfo Yeah, the atmosphere here has definitely changed and not for a good direction. Every thread seems to turn about arguing/whining about balance or even still some trolling about "Serral won only because of xxxxxxxxx" korean bias. If even 20% of this negative energy would be turned into making constructive criticism about the problems AND introducing solutions to them, this would be a very good place to compile those suggestions even for Blizzard and see what they think. But well, its always easier to shout "Nerf Infestorzz" or "Toss Imba !!". When Stats plays his best game, he seems to be almost untouchable and has a good chance to win every tournament. When Maru/Innovation plays his best game, he seems to be almost untouchable and has a good chance to win every tournament. When Serral plays his best game, he seems to be almost untouchable and has a great chance to win every tournament. There. Three players. Each best of their race. And in their best day, they can beat everybody and when they collide at their best, there is bound to be great games where anybody can win. Unfortunately Maru seems to have forgotten how to win outside GSL, but hopefully he will also correct that. Yeah, there are few balance issues which should be addressed, but its nowhere as grave as 90% people here claim it to be. Instead of constant whining, make constructive feedback and try to get better in your game. Accusing balance for your inability to win games or that somebody lost in a single tournament series just doesnt cut it.
