herO started out with a quick lead through a one base prism/stalker attack on Abyssal Reef. He ran circles around Dear's disruptors in game two, using recall and immortals to snipe bases. Despite losing a large heads up engagement, dark templar in Dear's main and fourth earned herO the 2-0 victory.
ByuN opened with dedicated reaper builds in both games of the second match. He went up to five barracks before moving into bio in game one, but committed less heavily in the second where Rogue survived to reach hive tech, only for ByuN’s ghosts and liberators to outlast his ultralisks and corruptors.
ByuN effortlessly defended herO's two base prism aggression to take game one, but had a harder time in game two when his early thors were unable to contain herO’s gateway units. After a slow start to the final game, ByuN’s pressure forced herO into a desperate attack with immortals and high templar. ByuN lost 20 SCV’s but held, making him the third Terran in the upper bracket of the Round of 8.
Dear scrambled to defend Rogue’s ling flood in game one, but could not stem the tide. Rogue's fortune continued as his gold base went unpunished on Odyssey. He moved into ling/bane/hydra, but dealt the final blow later when Dear's immortals and archons ran into lurkers and banelings.
herO’s zealot based timing killed Rogue's third but little else. Stuck on two bases, he conceded the first game when mutalisks appeared. Rogue went for a 13 gas/12 pool opening on Whirlwind. herO tried defend with zealots, but died a slow death to Rogue’s zerglings. The 2-0 victory puts Rogue in the Round of 8 of GSL for the first time since 2015.
