Hey guys, I know this topic has come up on these forums before, but not for a couple years. So there are some seasons of GSL currently not available to watch on the internet.
GSL January 2011 (Jinro's 2nd Ro4, IdrA in Ro8, Mvp's first GSL win) GSTL February 2011 (First season of GSTL ever, first all-kill, AMAZING finals) GSL March 2011 (Start of the foreigner seeds, the AMAZING pre-group interviews, HuK makes Code S) GSTL March 2011 GSL World Championship 2011 (DIMAGA being the first man to defeat NesTea, Mvp's 2nd GSL victory, Korea vs The World) GSTL May 2011 (The rise of DongRaeGu. Amazing SlayerS vs MVP series.) GSL May 2011 (HuK's Code S debut, NesTea GSL victory)
With GOM having closed their doors, I wonder if there's anything we can do to get these games uploaded. Does Afreeca have access to their video library? There are so many great moments in this seasons and the idea of them being lost forever doesn't sit right with me. The GOM YouTube channel uploaded every season they had except these ones.
Does anybody have any ideas of what we can do (apart from maybe bug Afreeca officials?) to get these seasons uploaded?
|
Yeah I was looking for these VODs as well, For me they were the most exciting games played in SC2 history. The game had been figured a lot more than in the open seasons and the hype was still immense. Also the GOM forums had hardly any moderation and people were much more gullible than today. I will cherish the memories.

I have to check on my other computer because I'm not entirely clear on what I got from youtube and what I didn't, but I downloaded almost all of these. Some of what you're looking for was available on youku (with the english cast) but I'm pretty sure at least some were on Gom Exp

I am trying to find the game that made me a MKP fan. Its the GSL World Championship 2011 Ro4 vs oGsMC. I tried to to find it everywhere without luck. It would mean a lot to me.

No one has found the missed seasons? I only have the full January 2011 season and some parts of the GSTL Feb. (including finals).

GSTL Season 1 is not a problem. Missed seasons are listed in the first post of the topic. I could only find January (downloaded to hdd a long time ago).
It seems like the Korean versions are still available on GOM site (I'll try to download them, although they do require Korean VPN), but with the English version the trouble is that all torrents has been inactive for a long time.

Unless you mean to tell me there's a difference between GSTL Season 1 and the first season of GSTL

Unless you mean to tell me there's a difference between GSTL Season 1 and the first season of GSTL The first three seasons of the GSTL were rather pre-seasons (short, without group stage). They took place in February, March and May 2011. The first full season, to which you post the links, started at the end of June 2011 and was called GSTL Season 1.

Ok I never checked last time I commented on this thread, going to look tonight when I get home. I'm pretty sure I have at least some of these.
|
Yeah as I suspected I have most of these.
A lot of what's missing I got from youku with korean commentary. I don't know exactly what was missing, was it the whole season each time or some specific matches?

- GSTL February 2011 - GSTL March 2011 - GSTL May 2011 - GSL March 2011 - GSL World Championship 2011 - GSL May 2011
Can you share torrent with it?
If someone needs, I can share the full GSL January season with English comments (also have Ro8 Day1 and final from GSTL Feb. + Code S Ro32 Group A from GSL March with Tastosis comments).

Nearly all of MLG tournaments VODs are missed. MLG updated their website.

I don't know how to download videos on GomTV. But there may be some VODs on youku.com, just search sc2neotv etc.

Actually yes. I do have those vods.
After 4+ years of digging a kind benefactor donated most of the missing GSL/GSTL vods to both me (for my YT channel) and to the operator of the SC2 Vod Archives channel on Twitch last April.
The following events are available IN FULL by torrent: - 2011 GSL January (all vods) - 2011 GSTL February (all vods) - 2011 GSL March (all vods) - 2011 GSL May (all vods) - 2011 GSTL May (all vods)
The following events are NOT available as we only partially have them: - 2011 GSTL March (2 Ro8 matches + finals) - 2011 GSL World Championship (unsure on this one)
With moderator/admin permission I will post as to how to acquire them.
NOTE: I've had these specific vods since April 2020 and I verified them myself and every single vod is an .mp4 in full 720p.

I have almost all of that (but possibly some of it in chinese I don't remember exactly)
Would love an MP for the other stuff if you have english versions that I don't have
The main missing piece of SC2 is the replaypack for MLG Raleigh 2010, I'm like 90% sure that I remember they released it at some point, but I never could find anybody that has those replays saved.

OK this is what I have right now for 2011 GSTL March [all vods in English]:
- Ro8 (oGs vs SlayerS) - Games 1-4 & 6 (games 5 & 7 missing) - Ro4 (SlayerS vs StarTale) - Games 1-3 (games 4-6 missing) - Finals - All 9 vods
As for the 2011 World Championships it's a mish-mash and it would take some serious going through.
I'd really like to get 2011 GSTL March complete at least, but it's imperative that it's all in English. Chinese-language cast isn't useful for what I'm trying to accomplish.

All right sorry for the false hope I just have chinese for what you're missing

If we're looking at replays, too...anybody have MLG Anaheim 2011 and/or 2012?

Definitely 2011, I thought I should have 2012 as well but I couldn't find it in my files for some reason, must be stored somewhere else.
Edit: I think there miiight not have been a replaypack for the 2012 edition? Not 100% sure.
A lot of old replays are still available on https://www.gamereplays.org/starcraft2

I have replays for:
# MLG Dallas 2010 # MLG Dallas 2011 # MLG Anaheim 2011 # MLG Orlando 2011 # MLG Providence 2011 # MLG Raleigh 2011 # MLG Winter Arena 2012
I have uploaded/recorded VODs from the following on my YT channel:
# MLG Anaheim 2011 # MLG Orlando 2011 # MLG Providence 2011 # MLG Raleigh 2011
Let me know if you want some/all of them uploaded Here's a link for the replays, I uploaded them anyway. Most of them are from Gamereplays but I had to sort through them all to make it easier to see which replay was for which match/set.
[Added]
Very doubtful as I've searched far and wide, but if anyone does by some miracle find GSL/GSTL replay packs from 2011-2012 I'd absolutely give a kidney for them!.

Chris_Havok has done a fantastic job on his YT channel SC2 Esports Anthology with a veritable cornucopia of VODs. I'm sure he will upload the VODs he presently lacks - not sure if this is what you meant.

HA! Don't bet on it...
I tried uploading the missing 2011 GSL & GSTL vods to Youtube last summer, and I was smacked down with two copyright violations. Not for content mind you, and not because I was flagged by GOMTV. But because I was flagged for MUSIC violations for the 3rd party music played by GOM during the streams!
So was the end of that for now, and although I haven't completely given up on that plan I'm not sure as to how to proceed, short of muting the offending music within every single vod hoo-boy...
That's a big reason as to why I keep those events on an external hard drive.
Now to the matter at hand. As to how to acquire almost every GSL & GSTL including the early 2011 events, the best way is by torrent/magnet, and that can be done here: https://starcraftvods.com/downloads.html This site exists for the preservation of StarCraft 2 events & history. If the admins don't like the link being posted for possible copyright concerns I understand that and it can be removed.

How much space does your SC2 VoD collection take up Chris?
Even Afreeca themselves have had VoDs pulled for music violations, although they seem to be re-uploading the ones that get pulled.

My personal collection is around 270GB and comprises almost everything from 2010 GSL Season 1 to 2011 GSL Super Tournament so far.
The torrent/magnet website I linked to however is actually owned and operated by the owner of twitch.tv/scvodarchives. In fact the vods you see there are the identical vods on the website, and are roughly 4.3TB in size and growing. All magnets are seeded and working as well.
In regards to music violations, several old GSL & GSTL vods were removed as well when GOMexp on YouTube re-branded itself. I suspect due to copyright music violations. So there are now quite a few missing vods at SC2 Esports Anthology and surely on Liquipedia. I wrote myself a text list of all of vanished vods around 6 months ago.

Hmm. I think the easiest solution would be to either cut-out the parts with the music - I don't see much sense in the muting from a viewer experience perspective - although you could put in some royalty free music instead/music available on the YT editor.
Sounds like a massive job but I might be up for editing some with you for your channel if you plan to do it in the future. Can have a shared Google drive/whatever and amass them there for you to download and upload to your channel.

That’s smaller than I expected, suppose it’s the 360/480p era.
I might give it a shot downloading those. My last time looking to get BW torrents I gave up for lack of seeding but if these are reasonably active suppose I’ll give it a crack.
I have many terrabytes of really under-utilised cloud storage, might as well use what I’m paying for. Plus would probably be faster for others to download if I did stick it up there

Great work guys, it's been awesome having these unearthed! I didn't expect my thread from four years ago to become active again.
I myself have been working on downloading the missing seasons to my PC via that torrent. It's slow going, but we're getting there.
So what is currently missing now? GSTL March 2011 (most of it anyway) and most of the GSL World Championship 2011? I think iirc the Team Korea vs Team World is on YouTube, albeit unlisted. For the main tournament I don't see anything, but I do have NesTea vs DIMAGA on my PC (and thank god too because that was a legendary moment).
