How much would he wish he just did not say anything about Sioras using his computer to watch replays? he was trying to get them not to dq sioras .. X_X Nice thanks. The organizers were really harsh on that one, there is the letter but the spirit too, and Sioras' storyline was such a nice one... Harstem's manager was making a fuss out of it, notice that it is basically just him on twitter. However that forces Blizzard/Netease's hand, Harstem himself has no problem with what Sioras did and actively tried to not get Sioras DQed.
That's pretty weird if true, no offense Sioras but I'm pretty sure Harstem was a bigger favourite to win against you than Has... or did he think the DQ would get Harstem to the semis with no match?

This is why we shouldn't go all angry about someone from a single tweet.

And we're not, what's done is done and I belive all those DQ's didn't matter at all considering overall results. Sioras should blame only himself actually, but that's not a tragedy I think?

I appreciate that blizzard is protecting the players and the competitive integrity of their tournaments, but I believe they should have first at least asked me how it went down. If they after hearing my story still thought a disqualification was the appropriate response then so be it,but I feel like this was too much for too little.
Just my two cents (sorry for my incoherent story, am on mymy phone and on a holiday )
It happened because it went big on twitter, so I wonder why Sebou complained if he knew that Sioras was only joking.

It's good to hear that there was no malicious intent, and it's a shame there was such a knee-jerk reaction to it. But in the end I can't really be mad at blizz for wanting zero-tolerance in regards to a player sneaking onto someones computer to watch replays/do stuff. It just isn't a smart thing to do in the middle of a competition even if it was a joke.

So who do we blame for all this: Blizzard and people that blew this out of proportion on twitter or Sioras for being a troll :D

I personally share the feeling of Sioras and Harstem, it was a joke that was then taken seriously by GPL/Sebou/blizzard.

Just my two cents (sorry for my incoherent story, am on mymy phone and on a holiday ) Wow! That's some next level Blizzard move there. Incompetence at a whole new level.
"Hey guys, we're Blizzard, an Sioras is exactly the kind of foreigner we want to give a chance by barring the Koreans with WCS 2016. Oh, no wait, here's a fuck you, and another one, get out of our competition you ignorant fuck".
Really, those guys should be fired.

Honestly should have been up to harstem.
If he wants him DQ its fair, but if he decides to play - also ok.
I couldnt blame him either way.

It's strange because it was sebou who blew it up. And sebou is harstem's manager.

Not to mention it could potentially open the door to something worse if both parties colluded and let each other watch replays. Say you have a two P players, and one of them faces a Z player. That other P player could ask to watch replays of that Z player if the first P player say it's ok.
I'm not saying that people will cheat if blizz and the organizers hadn't DQed him, but I can also see why they want to be very strict on not watching replays on another person's computer. It's an extremely slippery slope.

I'm just going to say something short since everyone seems to have an opinion.
First i would like to point out that my tweet came after i received many different points of views which all point to the fact that Sioras was on Harstem computer from 30 sec to 5 min, noone could tell me. I've nothing against Sioras personally, but receiving phone calls informing of that incident made me pretty upset and i have to say blizzard's reaction was the good call. Noone is denying the facts even today.
My job is to protect my players no matter what and the facts were there someone did accessed Harstem's computer without his consent and as far as anyone knew it could have been from 30 sec to 5 min. During this time anything could have happened but the only sure thing is when Harstem came back Sioras was in from of his computer while a replay was on in PvZ. Sioras can say it was a joke, Harstem can say maybe it was, but as a manager i cannot let something like this goes unnoticed to one of my players.
I have been most of the events, i know most of the professional players pretty well and i know how players troll each others and mess around all the time. But when i got informed by this incident, in no way ANYONE was implying a joke was involved.
However what i regret is that Harstem got penalized in a way by the sanction, because then when Sioras got DQ they replaced him by Has which was in my opinion debatable, but at the end it is their call if they want to replace a player by another.
What i can argue on is on how they informed and communicate with Harstem. They informed him way too late and also with a communication problem. Let me explain, when they informed Harstem he is not going to play his match up for which he has prepared for days but is going to face a Protoss, they first told him we will give you time and you will play last. Right in the middle of the second series, someone informed him he has to play soon.
|
Thanks for the info Sebou, I can understand that you have to fight for you players and it probably sounded a lot worse than it was.
Blizzard should've maybe taken Harstem's opinion into account and not DQed Sioras though, instead a prize money deduction seems like the correct move. They indirectly punished Harstem by giving him a different opponent.

Where do I point this pitchfork? They all seem like reasonable people.
