We all miss the Day[9] daily. Aside from the show's host being one of the most lively and enjoyable personalities in the SC2 scene, it was a consistent, educational show that gave us our fix of high level analysis. I would like to bring that experience back with The Evolution Chamber. Though it may not have Sean's charm, I believe there is still room for this show in the hearts of SC2 fans and with the pros and personalities we have, I don't see why this couldn't be an incredible community experience.
The Format
When: Monday - Friday, starting anytime between 4 PM EST and 10 PM EST. Length: ~60 minutes Who: Any WCS Challenger or higher pro SC2 player or caster. Where: twitch.tv/lycangtv | youtube.com/lycangtv
Execution
Players and pros will choose a recent Bo3, 5, or 7 of their choosing to analyze live on stream. The goal is to highlight interesting play, explain tactics, educate viewers on the player and their styles, and entertain. The time of the episode will be based on the hosts preference, but will always be between 4 PM and 10 PM EST. VODs will be released on the LycanGTV YouTube channel.
Players and Casters
I will be paying $50 per episode to those who wish to participate. If you're interested, please tweet me @LycanGTV or hit me up on Skype if you have my contact info already. You may sign up for as many episodes as you want.
High Level Community Members
3-5 episodes a month will be open to high level players who are not WCS level players, but are well spoken and knowledgeable about the game. I'm thinking of people like Gemini and Neuro with this. Feel free to contact me if you're interested.
Feedback and questions are welcome. I'll edit this post with people who sign up. The show will start January 4th.

This is actually a great idea, perhaps adding themed days would help, Zerg/terran/protoss day, newbie day, a larger overlook of the current meta every month or so, good luck!
|
Glad this is back. QXC doing replay analysis was one of my favorite parts of TLG.
|
The daily was more like a planned lesson, good luck getting any pro to put in the effort Sean did planning a lesson around the replays. Most pros don't make good teachers.
|
I'm a low GM player think I could get on the list for Community Members who want to talk about the game?
|
Lycan, this is gonna be sick! Finally some real educational SC2 content. :D
|
This is a great idea and I'll be sure to tune in.
|
That's awesome, thanks for the effort put into that Lycan. I'll be sure to tune in to every single one of those that I manage to! <3

It's a fantastic idea but I don't think you should do it 5 times a week. I think maybe 2-3 times would be better on both sides as you'll save yourself a bit of money, and have a healthy supply of content (no running out of games to cast)
|
Whoa, sweet!! Looking forward to this :D
|
Great idea. Will definitely catch the vods for this! (Feelsbad to be eurotrash)

Super excitded for this, great stuff Lycan!

Woah that looks cool! Will defenitely tuned in to as many as I can :D

Don't let the door hit you if they ban you for bashing a guy.
Also could you post a replay of said BM, not calling you a lair or anything fwi. Just love good BM.

He isn't wrong. I love BMing in game I find it fun. Some people take it personally though *shrug
I'm pretty good about limiting my massive BM and shit talking to where it's appropriate though; generally in game and on Bnet forums. I'm quite tame on maegis forums and on TL.

Nothing wrong with helping the community. Off sets the negtive karma from BM.
I also used to Play Zerg..... Wasn't medically clear to play Z (or sc2) so I decided to take on a least intensive race and picked Terran. Mass Marines anyone?

Point is people should learn to separate environments where people let loose and act like a fool and settings where they need to behave like here. Internet is really tricky and if people really think that people on the internet 100% represent their real life behavior then there's a problem with perception.

True that.
It would be like if everyone judge my little brother who has autism based off his behavior. It won't 100% represent what he might be normally.

I would never say that someone shouldn't get a gig because of bm comments in game. Things get heated in competition and even the best of us crack. Those who deny it and seek blood of those who bm are the biggest culprits in disguise.
That said, many people play sc2 for 4-10 hours a day. It is just as "real" life as anything else. The seconds, minutes, and hours are ticking by. You shouldn't act like your words/actions don't affect people. And if you consistently are an asshole to people online, well, prepare for them not to like you.

i am interested, i am a zerg player/caster for Psistorm gaming and i was also a caster for IvD back in the day

Could we potentially bring back Funday Monday and Newbie Tuesday with this?
|
Why isnt anyone talking about this? Last night show was Avilo teaching everyone about how TvP meta is gonna be like in LotV, marines and tanks. Basicly terran plays TvP same way as TvT.
|
And for me that started the show on the wrong foot. I would love to see people that really know about the game analysing it, instead of someone that spends 80% of playtime calling other people maphackers. Especially people that realize that if you are going bio you need marauders vs P because its ground is almost all armored and fighting vs T is a completely different animal. Yeah, its okay to have literally anyone comment and analyse a game but if you are serious about being an educational program, you need people that know what they're talking about
|
Yeah it was very interesting seeing INnoVation new style of TvP. I wonder if Avilo is right and this will be the new meta.
It makes sense in a way. Marauders are worse then in Hots. But so are Colossus and immortals. Maybe Marine/Tank is the way to go. Being able to pick up tanks makes tanks significantly more useful compared to Hots.
But then again, if Protoss start doing Zealot/HT I am not sure Marine/Tank will work.

But then again, if Protoss start doing Zealot/HT I am not sure Marine/Tank will work. Avilo responded to that question by saying, that probably just counter to zealot/ht would be more liberators and hellbats, and ghosts that you build anyway. If protoss metagames back into more colossus, then terran can make few more marauders.

I don't like Avilo's banters or baseless hack accusations on stream either but people are focusing too much on his persona(especially on reddit, this place is more level headed) It is an educational video for anyone below masters, or people like me who have not been playing for a long time.
This show is going to be an amazing source of information, thanks for your contributions to the scene lycan.

I'm usually months ahead of what the "meta" is and recognize things that players start using later, especially when it comes to late game play.

You apparently did not watch the episode, and think innovation is wrong in what he's doing TvP.
|
Im not a fan of avilos behavior on stream either, but in the first part of the show he actually did a good job analyzing and pointing out why marine tank might have a role to play in TvP as a general composition early-mid game. Im wondering if Innovation went into the game with the plan to go marine tank or if Manas cheesy built promted him to continue that route. Are there more examples of innovation skipping marauders or is this the only replay of him doing it btw? The 3 starport build is interesting as well - I first saw Gumiho use it early LOTV. The last map specific build im not so sure about, but could be fun to try with all the harrass potential.
Edit: Ohh and btw whos on the show tonight - is there a list somewhere?
|
When it comes to analyze the game, design and balance, Avilo is most of the time educational or at least backs it up. You can dislike someone but still listen to what he has to say. Same thing with someone you love, the guy can be totally wrong or just saying untrue or outdated facts to prove his point.
It's politics all over again. Focus on the content and not the medium
|
I think marine/tank is a great composition until the Protoss can start to amass templar tech

I missed the episode with Avilo, but I'm excited to see Neuro tonight!
|
Neuro should be a permanent host.
|
Neruo one is awesome. I was thinking pig would be nice to have on, and I just read he's on tomorrow. =D
|
Very nice episode with PiG. A much needed look at ZvZ, and I look forward to seeing his guide on the matchup posted.
|
PiG was good. Felt a lot like watching his stream.
|
|
Can we stop trying to replicate what we had in the past? I wanna see something I haven't seen before, and the Lycan League was fun. Cancelling it for this is stupid to me. I'll make sure not to watch.

I was able to watch Avilo's episode and I found it pretty insightful regarding the TvP matchup (specially how to approach the adept immortal composition). Believe it or not, Avilo has very nice ideas when he is serious.
I am thankful and glad that you are an active part of our community, Lycan. Keep up the great work!
Are there any news on February's schedule and players?
|
What happened? Did this die?
|
So what the heck happened? Has anyone been in touch with the guy running the show or did he just disappear? An announcement would be pretty helpful. If he did disappear, what are the chances of someone else picking up where the main guy left off?
