Please use this thread to discuss the thirteenth level of the LotV campaign, "Purification". This is the second Endion mission. Clearly mark spoilers using the spoiler tag. Plot events that occurred in the prologue or Missions 1-12 do not need to be spoilered. Please spoiler plot events from Missions 14-16 which can be played before this mission.

Feel free to use this thread to ask any simple questions you might have about the mission, or for tips/help/advice on completing the mission

Felt like I cheesed this one a bit. Built a nexus in front of the core thingy so I had a bit more time to bring my army back before the core itself came under attack.

Where are all the hybrid behemoths on this map for the mastery achievement? I cleared the whole map and i think i only saw 4 of them, and you need 5.
i was driving down the road this november eve and spotted a hitchhiker walking down the street. i pulled over and saw that it was only a tree. i uprooted it and put it in my trunk. do trees like marshmallow peeps? cause that's all i have and will have.

There are four of them in each bases in the corners of the map, plus another one spawns after releasing the third purifiers group that heads towards the central structure you need to defend.

I play on brutal and this is one of the easier missions. What I did was use Aldun's chrono to max probes, then made destroyer void rays. The cannons at the bottom with initial forces could hold out the few waves, then make a few cannons
enough to delay enemy and recall VR back to defend. I went bottom left, top left, top right then bottom right (because infestors there could land a money fungal and wipe out my clumped up VR.

Here's my playthrough

Thanks! Ended up freeing 3 sections of the Protoss purifiers and let them kill 3 behemoths while I went and killed the last two.

Can someone explain how one goes about completing the 'Power Overwhelming' achievement.

Well, one Purifier force is released when you destroy three Null Circuits. Since you can play on Normal for that achievement, simply destroy the first six and then split your army in half and simultaneously attack the last six in the remaining two areas.

Do you happen to have a map/location/direction of where one should be heading after releasing the 3rd purifier army? Should one be pushing out around the 10m mark or is that too late? I'm going to try and knock this one out tonight once I know the triggers and locations to avoid wasting time replaying. Thanks!

Pushe out early with the few units you have and don't lose them. Time is crucial so sithing back wont get you anywhere. Solar Lance can get you out of sticky situations. Vanguard immortals are invaluable for dealing with the hybrid, they do something like 800 damage in the first 4 seconds of a fight, and that's something even dts cant match.

Alright, thanks. I think I will wait for a video guide for a better understanding of the timing, path, etc.

E: Video guides on youtube are up and show exact locations, where to go, etc. I was almost 2 minutes behind the video because I wasn't as fast as them but still got it just before the 15m mark.

What I did for Monster Hunter:

Normal ground army of colossus/stalker/other stuff (I liked the taldarim sentry).

Cleared the west, north, then east Null Circuits in that order - east circuit was done around 13:00 (I think the limit is around 13:15-30, anything slower than that and the third wave of purifiers won't kill the behemoth.

Once you free the third set of Null Circuits, kill the behemoth that spawns and attacks the central core, head south east down a straight pathway and you should come to some sideways stairs, a-move at the stairs and the behemoth will try to go down it at which point you kill it and get the achievement.

As is mentioned it's pretty easy on normal. My suggestion is to clear out the first two sets of three crystals, then find the other two sets but only destroy two out of each set. Leave one dark Templar by the crystal but use hold position so he doesn't destroy it, then once you have taken out the last set of crystals, go back and destroy the remaining crystal from the 3rd set.

For a lot of achievements which involve destroying specific targets like "Monster Hunter," I've found the Tal'darim Mothership is like Chuck Norris. It has crazy-powerful offensive abilities and its beam can one-shot most ground units, including Hydralisks. Two or three shots will blast apart a crawler defense. You can fast-tech to a Fleet Beacon and Blink-spam (It recharges in just 8 seconds.) the Mothership everywhere and snipe ground forces. Recommend using Talandar, Orbital Strike or Solar Lance, and Reconstruction Beam to support it. Pulling off Phael's tactic is easy with the Mothership. West, north, east null circuits and then the southern Behemoths. I needed only a modest home guard force and spammed offensive support powers when I went up against the Behemoths. The Mothership was the only unit I had anywhere outside of my base or the perimeter of the core the entire time. I maneuvered it around the bulk of the defending Zerg forces, which is easy to do with the spammable Blink. I then lazily finished the mission, coming in at a dozen seconds under 19 minutes, and I know more skilled players could make an even bigger mockery of this level using the Mothership. It's really too bad you have to choose between the Mothership and Carriers in the campaign, because the Mothership as part of a carrier fleet would be dangerously concentrated AWESOME in the final levels.

for the mastery achievement, i didnt destroy a single null circuit. instead i just went to each of the four corners to bait out the hybrid behemoth, then kill him with the help of fenix (who can solo a hybrid behemoth) or time stop. i used fenix on two behemoths and time stop on two behemoths ro keep my army intact. the fifth behemoth will be part of an attack on the core that spawns in bottom left quadrant at ~13:00.

top left was the toughest quadrant to get to so i did it last.

i used nerazim void rays and taldarim vimmortals with energizers for "stim". it helps to engage as little of the armies guarding the null circuits as possible.

i used chrono surge (on probes, immortals and voids), orbital strike (which i used on lings and hydra attacking the core to reduce dps), orbital assimilators, fenix, guardian shell and time stop
