YoDa, B4, Gerrard arrested for match-fixing - Page 42

Based on the official Police investigation, only the above players have been implicated in matchfixing. There is no reason to further accuse other players and teams until we get more information. Incessant blind accusations will not be tolerated. Please read the thread and the updates before posting.

As of page 54 we will be moderating against match fixing accusations for players who were not caught in this incident, including those using voided Pinnacle bets as evidence.

This is just like the Salem Witch Trial all over again, everyone just keep pointing fingers, give it a rest.

No shit, it's done and dusted just leave him alone, stop beating a dead horse.

If he actually comes up again in the investigations and stuff then it's relevant to post about that match.

the human in me is saddened by this turn of events, as matchfixing of any form hurts sc2's standing in korea and the world.

the cynicist in me wonders who would pay prime and its players any amount of money to lose matches vs arguably top of the line korean players?

For a normal sport definitely (plus this type of betting is illegal in most states). eSports aren't as recognized in the US which makes this question interesting.

Basically all the "fan duel" fantasy football stuff going on fits the same profile I believe (roughly, it's insider betting). I doubt anything will happen to that guy, which I think is fine. Gambling is manipulative as fuck, so when someone manipulates that system I guess I am just thinking its par for the course.

I suppose insider trading on the stock market is illegal. The criminal prosecution strikes me as odd, it struck me odd as fuck that Martha Steward went to jail. Clearly she belonged there XD

I guess people are SERIOUS about their gambling!

daily fantasy (aka fanduel) is tricky because theirs some sort of exception in the gambling rules and their still trying to figure it out (like 8 states including nevada have ruled that its gambling). The insder trading stuff is a guy at one company who supposedly had access to insider information playing with another company. overall a mess.

this has a lot more in common with a point-shaving scandal. I'm pretty sure regardless of whether its qualified as a sport in the US if it happened over here people would get thrown in jail if it turned out that they were colluding with gamblers to throw matches in whatever it was.

It will never stop, they just want to crucify him. We're gonna have to deal with it.

The bets were mostly on over/under (game time), not necessarily on who wins or loses.

I have a feeling this is far from being over. It's just a typical prosecution process from now on. Once Gerrard (or others) makes a deal with the prosecutor - and they will make a deal, expect more indictment to follow.

Yeah, fantasy leagues are different since they are considered to be skill based and thus are currently legal in most states.

Honestly, it's not that had to lose a game at high level, on purpose. You simply don't prepare, do some random build and I guarantee you'll lose 4/5 games.

The commentary and random comments from the commentators in the various Yoda matches are interesting, by the way they say he made "questionable decisions" and "sloppy plays", etc. The reason for those questionable decisions and sloppy plays are obvious in retrospect. I just hope we don't end up with a situation where every questionable decision or bad play by a player is greeted with instant accusations of throwing matches and match-fixing. Even high-level players can make mistakes. I suppose that's part of why match-fixing is so bad: it threatens the integrity of the game and its public perception.

This should basically prove MarineKing's innocence, right? People were like "WELL EVEN IF KESPA FOUND EVIDENCE THERE'S NO WAY THEY WOULD RELEASE IT" well what now guys?

We'll wait and see over the next few weeks but it makes me happy that me and the other few people actually using logic and knowing how MarineKing played appeared to have been correct.
