His longevity as a tournament class player is unmatched by any player in Starcraft II. Since 2010 he's persistently attained a high position in tournament after tournament in a way that no other player has. Each time people count him out he comes back for yet another world class finish. He won't be first as even when he's winning tournaments he isn't the best player in the world usually. His highs aren't high enough. But he's done well in such an incredible number of tournaments that he definitely deserves a top 5 spot. In addition he is basically the only Protoss worth mentioning if you look at the first two years of the game.

The problem with Nestea's rank within this ranking is that his achievements are very localized temporally. In 2010-2011 he was the only zerg worth mentioning (okay maybe DRG for the tail end of 2011). In 2012 he was a strong zerg. And since then he has achieved no results. Should he really be called the greatest player if he's had no impact on over half of it?

Leenock was pretty worth mentioning at the end of 2011 too..
Also I think this is one of the biggest throws in sc2 history from the end of 2011 which made Nestea suck. After this game he pretty much never played well again. Even I could have won from his position:
Start watching around 11:30 if the timer doesnt work.

Yes, Leenock, DRG, and Losira (won code A and was a MLG and GSL finalist ffs) were all quite hot in 2011.
As a longtime fan of Nestea who followed him since the beginning, if I had to pinpoint the exact moment where he began his long descent into what he is today I'd say it happened between the 2011 Blizzcon and the 2011 November season ro16 against Huk. Right around there is when he began throwing hardcore in longer games and his strategical brilliance began to slowly fade. Didn't register at the time but already I'd say DRG and Leenock were better at that point.
edit: nvm you posted it.
after this game he pretty much never played well again.
Not entirely. Nestea still maintained his position as a top 5 Zerg for several more months taking 3rd at both IPL4 and Iron Squid and even went on to make a ro8 in the gsl. Nestea's final tournament of relevancy I'd say was Iron Squid II in 2013 where he actually did put on a competitive form.
1) Life 2) Mvp 3) INnoVation 4) Bomber 5) TaeJa 6) MC 7) Zest 8) sOs 9) PartinG 10) Soulkey or NesTea
Life dominated WoL the 2nd most, and HotS the most, give the kid the trophy already, while Bogus has had the most dominant streak out of anyone ever during the first half of HotS or so...
Bomber is extremely clutch on offline things, rarely dropped a final, when he was there, similar like Life and Mvp
Holy overrating Zest guys pls D: also overrating Stephano
If your list doesn't at least include Nestea you are a silly goof

I'm just gonna assume you didn't watch SC2 in 2010/2011 considering you say this and you have Zest and Inno above MC, MMA, and Polt. Nestea made Zerg man, and he won three GSLs
I also feel like ppl overrate NesTea. Sure he won 3 GSL, but he was only dominating in end 2010 till mid 2011. Zest was dominating pretty much 2014. Around the same amount of months, but the competition has become much harder.
10. Parting 9. INnoVation 8. MMA 7. Polt 6. NesTea 5. Zest 4. Taeja 3. MC 2. Life 1. Mvp

One of the most successful and winningest players of all time (won the most money out of any SC2 player for quite a while, although he may have dropped to 2nd or 3rd recently), and was the premier Protoss player for an insanely long amount of time

Counter point: Nestea basically defined Zerg. He revolutionized how it was played and helped create the meta. Zest played well in an already defined Protoss meta

Also 3 GSLs. Also Zest above MMA and Polt? Pls
Also, there's literally an award named after Nestea for his longevity in the pro scene.

Yeah for real. People act like he didn't do anything besides his three wins. He was actually pretty strong in Korea for a few years
