Which could be a lot of fun, but I'm sure people are used to the way things are now.

this is exactly what you're supposed to do though .

Though FPL is much more interesting with winners league format

I think you misunderstood me (or maybe I'm misunderstanding you). The way it's written now suggests that picking Zest, who played at a 9-point level throughout 2014, for your anti-team might be a good idea because he'll only perform as well as, say, a 7-point player. That's far from true. If you pick Zest and he performs like a 7-point player, your chances of winning are going down the toilet regardless of the fact that he seriously underperformed.

the problem is that unlike real sport fantasy leagues that are often based around score and points, starcraft all that matters is the win, as there's no reasonable way to judge or score anything else besides who won.
Throw on your favorite jacket and you're good to roll. Stroll through the trees and let your miseries go.

Before next season, I think I'm going to spam whoever is in charge (R1CH? Some mod? Someone???) to revise the current system so that there is a better reflection of "playing worse than expected". Right now, the Anti team does not really select for those you think will underperform so much as people you don't think will play (unrelated to skill mostly)...

MarineKing defeated Dark 2-0 recently.
Rogue has a good chance because Flash is struggling vZ.
Bomber remains one of the best TvT players.
Life will beat Terror.
Bbyong looks shaky vT. GuMiho beat him recently, despite TvT being GuMiho's worst match-up. BravO has good TvT and is the tier 1 terran player for Samsung now. fingers crossed on this one.

don't think Taeja or Stork will play much.

While it's possible to mathematically find the points a player needs to score to be worth his value (for example, a 7 point player might need to earn 21 pts a round to be worth his value), something like that cannot be computed (as a reasonable measure) until the end of each round. This is because players accumulate points over time to reach his worthy value; there is no way to compute a penalty based on the difference between actual and worthy values each week. That isn't a viable way to do anti teams, because players would be unable to trade them effectively (since you have to wait until the end of the round).

There are other possible measures that I have explored as possibilities but none of them make more sense than the current method. Predicting who plays and who doesn't is part of the gamble of FPL. Once we get a sense of team regulars, there won't be any more overvalued benchwarmers and you'll need to pick the least effective high value players to put on your anti team instead of just trying to guess who plays or not.

Would I have done it differently if I hadn't decided to only use players that start with an S? Perhaps, but the biggest issue I had was not being able to afford sOs on my main team.

Also my first time playing FPL so let's see how it goes.
Chose a very Zerg heavy team, with life, SoO and my old favourite Leenock I'm sure I'll be raking in the points.
Anti team I just put together going on what I've picked up in this thread.

You should just have to pick your antiteam every week.
If the player wins you lose a point, if the player loses you gain a point. If the player doesn't play at all you lose 2 points.
Something like that. (i just chose easy point examples, probably not balanced)

I decided to use a different strategy for picking players this time. Instead of building around one team that I thought would do well, I tried choosing players that would get lots of appearances for their cost. Went Terran heavy due to current meta, with my lone protoss being paralyze (mostly so he can collect points for SKT winning) and my lone zerg being life, who seems like an absolute steal for 7 considering his form. Interested to see how this will work out.

For the anti-team I choose Taeja (because I can't yet believe he will perform in proleague, even if he is my favorite player) Creator because I think he's overvalued for 6 considering he's playing on Prime, and Terror because he is just bad (and plays on Prime)
