Back in broodwar I never touched the ladder and it was nothing but pleasant memories. starcraft 2 1v1 will be as free as starbow ...
Fair enough. My main thought here is that mods and custom games will become free and that presents some really exiting possibilities.

You have a mod which you like alot, then you demand a whole community to quit SC2 and play Starbow instead. Do you know how insane that is? SC2 has been balanced out for years now, and you want a modmaker to take over? Dude ..... Reading the thread it seems the community there is just tired of constant spamming of threads like this. Despite all the hype Starbow still has to proove it's a better game and has the same potential like Dota or Counterstrike to surpass the orginal game. Please do not act like you know how "the community" feels. The only hype I see is about fun. I meant the community in the posted thread/blizzard forum, I know what they think because I read the thread... There is a section of the SC2 community that seem to be comming annoyed with the endless threads about Starbow bring better than SC2. The one posted above is pretty silly and Starbow fans really shouldn't be looking to replace SC2. People should just enjoy the mod and not attack the game that other people enjoy.
Thanks Mr. Social Convener. Blizzard is capable of seeing the forest through the trees.
If people don't like certain things about SC2 they should complain away. If there are certain elements of Starbow that are more entertaining ... so much so that people think it should replace SC2... then so be it.
If SC2 is all that great it'll win on merit.
The activity around Starbow is right in line Mohraime's choice of company name... but, i'm too lazy to draw out the analogy in full.
So all in all.. all this activity is fantastic.

Alternatively, if they want to stick with the explosive sac motif, there's the model from the HotS campaign.

Didn't some of the monobattles stuff got on the calendar back then ? It's a mod as well.

They look much better

Agreed, the flying baneling idea was pretty nice but I don't think it works sadly. The hots model looks pretty nice.

any reason for not adding disruption web? that ability makes viable corsair+reaver in pvz and that build was so fun to watch in bw. Also that spell can have another utilities that can add entertainment to the game. It can force siege tank to unsiege and shutdown turrets+spore alloiwing more drop play wich is fun to watch. And this abilite should not be imbalanced cuz its a heavy investmet cuz it requires a fleet beacon and a corsair for each disruption web.

The disruption web was in the previous version but quite buggy so they removed it. They were supposed to add it again in the newest patch but the player base spike due to Totalbiscuit, Axiom, Huskystarcraft and all others made them decided against patching it immediately.
Q: I remember from Broodwar when your units were hit with parasite the box around them in the control group would go green, did the same apply to Irradiate? Or am I remembering this incorrectly?

http://www.shoutcraft.com/tournaments/shoutcraft-clan-wars/
"SHOUTcraft Clan Wars will incorporate not only non-standard maps but also non-standard map formats. Each Clan War will feature a 2v2 map, which allows smaller teams to re-use players from their roster in a different format or even give some of their less competitive players a chance to shine. Going further than that, we plan to include the arcade maps Starbow and SC2BroodWar."

Only parasite did that, it did not apply to irradiate (or other spells such as optical flare).

This is GREAT news for everyone enjoying and supporting StarBow. With this format, there most likely be reason for players to practice and stream StarBow past this initial hype and let the mod develop even further.
Hype is good, having a foundation to build up a community is better.

I feel like Spider Mines don't do enough damage, nor do Reaver's scarabs. But I have only played like 4 games, those are just my first impressions. WHAT I find them so op XD
Lol. Well when I first saw them I was expecting them to hit like spider mines. They take a long time to actuate then when I finally saw one about to go off I was like, THAT'S GOING TO KILLLL ALLL THOSE LINGSSSSSS!!!!! Then it killed like 3 and hurt the rest. I was all TT ^^

I don't get it. "StarBow", a random mix of units from SC2 and SCBW, coupled with arbitrary balance changes. It's like somewhere in between someones personal opinion on balance and that BW recreated map. I don't see the point.

It takes the good aspects of broodwar and tries to recreate them in sc2 while leaving you with a game that sc2 players would be familiar with.
Of course, 'good aspects' is subjective.

I don't know if it's a feature rather than a bug, but the mines from the vultures seemed to be buggy : they didn't trigger on reapers (the reapers have jetpacks, so they fly, so they don't trigger mines?).
Poor guy fighting BeastyQT didn't stand a chance...
