After three long months, the Fragbite Masters came to an end with mYi's StarDust claiming a 3-0 victory over [A]NaNiwa in the grand finals.
StarDust's strong PvP didn't just serve him well in the finals, as his entire tournament run was built on toppling Protoss opponents. Starting in the Ro32, Stardust went 6-0 against Protoss opponents such as NaNiwa, Arthur, San, Elfi, and HasuObs with an impressive 13-2 map score.

The Fragbite Masters had began in September, featuring 32 players fighting for an unusually large prize pool for an online-only tournament. By taking home 80,000 SEK for first place (approximately $12,000), StarDust beat his prior personal high of 60,000 SEK won at DreamHack Summer to close out his year.
I watched most of this tournament, but I have to say that all semis and the final being PvP was quite a let down and borefest. It is probably the worst mirror to spectate right now.

I really am glad for Stardust that he won! But what is it in sc2 that protoss is so boring to watch compared to BW? Im not starting some bw vs sc2 rant or anything, but i really liked to see a good protoss play in BW but in sc2 i just don't enjoy watching it. Anybody feels to same and knows why?
Personally I love me some P v P...the match up takes a strange sort of balance between knowledge and boldness and defense - it is such a knife's edge - more so than the other mirrors because of the warp in mechanic.
Congratz to Stardust - his P v P is on another level.

It's primarily the fact that warp gate cooldown isn't longer than gateway build times, making there be absolutely no trade-off between building from your gateways and warping in at the front. This makes Protoss need weird countermeasures to achieve anything resembling a defender's advantage, outside of the fact that they usually are holding a ramp on one base.
The other problem is the cohesion between chargelots and colossi is too smooth. Chargelots slam into each other from an equal distance and form a line, which is the worst shape to be in if you don't want to get slaughtered by colossi beams. As much as players are gravitating more towards that chargelot-archon-immortal composition in macro PvPs, the colossi tends to win out in the truly massive 200v200 engagements, so games that don't end by the midgame tend to drag out into war-of-the-worlds-styled splash damage slugfests.

Last time I checked, gateway cooldown was longer than warp gates, 5-7 second I think.

yep, that's what he said. "warp gate cooldown isn't longer than gateway build times", just reversed order from what you said . Think that's a great point, especially since the buildings can transform back and forth. Wish gateway times were faster than warp gates but adjusted so proxy 2 gates weren't instant wins , would make sticking on gateways a decision and something to consider when scouting. Something like building up a timing, switching to warpgate for frontline reinforcement or harass and then back to gateways for perfect macro.
edit: forgot to mention congrats to stardust . And also that PvP isn't as bad, for me at least, as before. Especially a very long game a while back of Grubby, think it lasted around 50 minutes. Lots of different types of harass, composition switches and think we even saw every unit in the game employed throughout the last 20-30 minutes.
I still can't imagine how Stardust managed to turn the final game between him and Hasuobs around. Hasu was up 20workers at one point... in a PvP!!! But alas, well done, Stardust.

Gotta love delusional fanbois, "the only" lmao
gratz Stardust!
Antifans are the most delusional tho, like the ones who seriously claim that Naniwa can't even play a macro game.

nerchio is fucking right. naniwa is so carried by his race its sad. i have just left sc2 and wont comeback till there is a big nerf on toss out. Which means prolly arround half a year from now on or maybe even longer considering how slow blizzard is with patching OBVIOUS flaws out of the game ( see blord/ infestor :D )
Huge Congratz to Stardust! I was worried after his so-so performance at DH Winter and Asus Northcon, but nice to see him taking his bigest win yet. More to come!

This is a good example; the games arguably most consistent foreigner is apparently only carried by his race :o

Maybe this is just my bias speaking, but I think that Nerchio comes off as alot more bm than Nani in this context :o
Agree
Well it kinda started with Naniwa attacking Vortix and then Nerchio came to Vortix's defense.
Actually NaNiwa was just messing around after holding off Vortix's mega cheese in the decider match, and then after the game he just tweeted a picture that was hilarious and obviously not an "attack" or anything like that. It was just fucking around imo, and then Nerchio and Harstem had to come in and start talking shit. I think Nerchio was just mad he got knocked out by the same person NaNiwa sweeped a round after. It's pretty comical actually, TB was even making fun of them for getting all worked up over a ridiculous picture. Honestly people need to chill out sometimes, not everyone has to like each other and hold hands and run off into the sunset after they play a match.
I don't know, a picture with him saying "Fuck You Vortix" is pretty confrontational imo. Not saying it was something really bad, but if you do something like that you can probably expect some backlash.

This is only "hilarious" and "messing around" if you are a Naniwa fan. http://imgur.com/xuINrAs I'm sure Vortix didn't see it as fun times.
And no they don't have to be friends or anything. And Naniwa didn't do anything that's cause for any repercussions obviously. But that is not "messing around". haha
