Perhaps the case with the air changes. The turret change really should be stuck in, no testing needed

If Blizzard makes these changes, I will find all the posts where I've ever talked shit about them and replace them with "I am an idiot."

I think the problem is a bunch of this is impossible to change except on Blizzard's end. Or if we can change it, a horrendous round about solution is required to deal with the issue.

I really think you guys should all go play some Starbow games on arcade, all those things you guys are talking about have been done in Starbow already, acceleration, unit spacing and a different mining scalability and a bunch of other stuff, i highly recommend playing some games on it (i can't stress that enough). It has different units than starcraft II, and it is more similar to BW in that regard, but i know you guys will absolutely love it.

I like Starbow but it's somewhat limited by lack of ladders and stuff, combined with the inability to title your custom games. If they've implemented ranking systems for it since I last played, my mistake

No it's a combo of no ladder + no ability to name your games. The latter is so, fucking, stupid not to have.

Things like 'noobs only', 'NR 20' 'pros' in both BW and WC3 at least helped to get you the kind of games you were looking for.

I think blizzard at least should allow some sort of test map that everyone can try... I want to try soooo bad

Seriously, (no offence to girl players) high school girls were yelling at screens of bw even without any comprehension on actual state of the game (they probably knew who is winning but not every micros and macros).

After watching many scbw highlights in comparison to sc2 highlights, Sc2 lacks visual impact despite of better graphic tbh.

SC:BW's intricacies were described perfectly by Korean commentators there. They actually goes into detail of how each nuances function down to quantum level of button selection, mouse clicks and how fast each of those moves have to done in order to pull off at pro level. THAT is what makes the audience awe-inspired by two nerds battling out in "time capsules", yes they actually name the booth "time capsules".

In SC2, commentators are out there making silly jokes, saying the most generic sentence on the gameplay, and just plain biased toward a certain player (see JD vs sOs). Whether or not they decide to focus on other aspects of the scene rather than the game itself is because the game doesn't possess those superhuman moments in BW is not in my position to comment. However there is definitely a strong correlation between the two events.

Casters needs to break down all the action of the players in order for the audience to connect with them. One must always think to himself while watching SC "Wow, I don't think I can pull that off if my life depends on it."

Actually it is not even necessary to be able to name your lobby you could write a small description that would show up under the preview of the map.

There's a lot going on, but many of those windows could be toggled like the chat channels, so no problems there, i also forgot to add a button to leave comments on the map, your score for the map and the changelog of the map and stuff like that, but there's a lot of space left so no biggie there.
The patch 2.1.0 is coming up and they said that it would be big, so here i'm hoping they make of the custom games section something similar of that pic i made

Blizzard won't do anything (at least not until LotV, and even then it probably won't be the overhaul that we want), i recommend you to read the thread, and go play Starbow instead.

As for the "fan girls" and how the casual community gets engaged into starcraft Xiphos explained it quite good, i feel this issue if mostly because of the casters and how they have to break down the game for the casual community and yet keep it interesting for the hardcore and more experienced fans, it is hard, but it is their work and what they chose to do.

//EDIT// Hmmm this post was mostly off topic, but how well, yeah what i came to say is that all those interested in a "test map" should go to play Starbow instead, that game is simply amazing.

As an addendum, there have been multiple interviews of pros stating that even though it is their job to be good at the game, they still listen to casters because they still learn new things from their commentating that they didn't notice before. That's how good Korean casters are.

This game is not only a great demonstration of Boxer's genius, but the perfect argument for why high-ground advantages should be brought back to StarCraft 2.

Sounds the same as high level SC2 analysis. Theres probably a couple differences I can think of immediately, but it has nothing to do with the quality itself of general SC2 analysis.

He said that its "the perfect argument for why high-ground advantages should be brought back to StarCraft 2."

Back in BW there was a 50% chance to miss. The only reason BoxeR was able to play against the metagame and create some amazing innovative tactics in that game was because of that reason. Had it been sc2, the high ground advantage would have been lost as soon as you get vision, aka as soon as the barracks' moved out..

I totally agree with him.

Just to satisfy my daily need of nitpicking; it was actually 30%, however, that does not change the argument.

Edit: punctuation and rephrasing.
Unless stated otherwise, my posts are from the view of someone who watches SC2 and want to improve it from that perspective, and those opinions will most often have little to do with what experience when I actually play.

Thank you for making this thread. Changes probalby won't happen - but it is important for me to know that people still worry about these things.

That vid was good don't get me wrong, but I didn't see anything there that the good English-language analytical casters in SC2 don't really deliver.
