It's not like he gets kicked out of Berkeley. Or he won't find a job because he didnt earn his degree in X consecutive years. Not sure why anyone would be in a hurry to finish school anyway. Yeah can't wait to finish med school and start my residency in some overcrowded, undermanned hospital working 100 hours a week! When you have the choice of taking time off to play vidya games and making bank, you take it.

Edit: This thread really shows one reason why the foreign scene doesn't produce the same players as Korea does. What does most players on eSF/KeSPA teams do? Forgo school. That is the big sacrifice that countless koreans make to maybe have a shot at glory, a smaller shot than most part-time foreigners have, due to the audience's incredible bias, streaming and so on.
Basically, Suppy is doing what most koreans are doing all the time to try and succeed in sc2. This is what foreigners need to do to catch up.
Yeah and tons of them don't make it and end up pretty behind once their career is over. I do enjoy korean SC2, but I don't necessarily think that a lot of them are making the best choice. You can't eat passion.
I'm kind of surprised by some of the negativity. Taking a year off from school only delays his graduation by a year. People take breaks from school all the time.
This is great news for the sc2 scene and it's an amazing opportunity for Suppy. He's right, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and he's taking full advantage of it. GL Suppy!

but good luck with EG suppy
He's not dropping out of school...most schools have zero repercussions for not taking classes over a few semesters. As long as your break is at most a year long, you can do whatever else you want in that time.

Not to mention that most students that do non-stop school to graduate ASAP end up with loads of debt. The ones that post-pone their graduation to do some work and get a paycheck (whether it's part time or full-time in small chunks) are the ones making the smart decisions.
this is why im so impressed with polt. Sc2 is hard enough for full time players but he lives in a foreign country, learns their language while attending college, and still continues to dominate SC2.. just wow
