Please ignore the fact that almost none of the players in the above banner play in the GSTL anymore. Instead, let's welcome the second season of HotS FGSTL! This season will feature two rounds, one all-kill style and one with set lineups(Proleague style). Mostly due to how late lineups and teams were announced, you only have a few hours to sign up. But for those of you lucky enough to sign onto Teamliquid at the right time, you're just in time to join Round 1.
Main Team Selection To start, each Fantasy GSTL participant is given a total of 30 points* with which they may purchase players. With these points, a main team of six pro-gamers (of which one is your team captain) and one pro-game team must be selected. The captain of your team is the same as a regular player with the exception that they cannot be traded.
The pro-gamers and pro-game teams have been assigned point values based on a variety of factors, including past GSTL performances, number of past GSTL appearances, performances in individual competitions, estimated likeliness to compete in the upcoming GSTL, etc. When pro-gamers and pro-game teams win games in the GSTL, the Fantasy owners who have purchased these players earn points. Detailed scoring rules are listed below.
*These points are only used for team selection. The points used for scoring are separate.
Anti Team Selection Each Fantasy GSTL participant is also given 13 points with which to assemble an “anti-team.” Three pro-gamers must be selected to be on the anti-team. The anti-team is identical to the regular team in all respects, except points scored by the anti-team count AGAINST the owner.
Player Scoring: Lineup Appearance: +1 Point* Game Win: +2 Points per win Game Loss: -1 Point 2-Game Streak Break: +1 Point** 3-Game Streak Break: +2 Points** Your Player's Team Wins: +1 Point***
Tie-breaks are decided by the team captain's score.
*Point given just for appearing in a match, regardless of win or loss. Only counts once, i.e. if MC goes 4-0, he still only gets 1 appearance point. **Given when a pro-gamer defeats a pro-gamer on the opposing team who is on a two or three game winning streak. Streaks do not carry over between matches; all streaks must occur in the same match. ***This counts for all players on the team's roster, even if they did not play in the match.
Between each week of games, you may trade players (swap a player for someone you don't have)
Player and team values will increase or decrease every week, depending on their performances.
Every player has a trade value, and you can only trade for players of lower value (higher value for anti-team)
You are limited to a maximum 2 Main Team and 1 Anti Team trades per week
Trades do not carry over from week to week if unused
Your team captain cannot be traded
Each time you trade, you will be assessed a -1 point trade tax
Basic Trading Strategy
Check the schedules each week! You'll want to know what teams are playing (and thus, which players are likely to appear)
Don't make trades just for sake of making trades, as they cost you trade tax points and you may get stuck with a player you don't want
The trade price formula takes into account number of matches remaining -- so players with more matches remaining will have higher prices
You must trade for players with less value, but try to minimize the value loss. For example, if you trade someone worth 30 for someone worth 20, next week you can only trade the 20 for someone less. It's much better to trade the 30 for someone worth 29.

I have no idea what that means.
It means if we know for sure that a player won't play in GSTL on a certain week you can't put them on your anti team(I assume you're trying to put Scarlett on your anti, she's taking a break from sc2 for a month).
My team reposes more on race than on players. We all know that protoss is very good in teamleagues. Trap should carry Soul so he must be a good captain (and he's my most costly player btw). I took Curious and Hack for Startale points and Supernova because I think he's Azubu best player right now so it's great for only 5 points. I don't like Crank much but he's protoss, he knows how to cheese, he had a very good ratio in AcerCup and should give me a lot of AXA points all this for 3 point, man sign me up!
I like Leenock but he's not doing too well in hots sC and VINES are completely safe anti-team picks (sC got an all-kill in the previous GSTL but then lost all his matches).
This felt like the least intriguing FPL picks for me ever. Few teams, schedule shadowing, lineup starters; pretty much like the most choices for my team were already done for me. Not too much to wonder about.
My team reposes more on race than on players. We all know that protoss is very good in teamleagues.
That may be true in PvProLeague, but in GSTL? I remember last season being dominated by Terran all-kills Although we did have Protoss heroes in the playoffs.
why nobody pick seed ? he is so cheap . and still gsl champion still in kr team still active .. and another question : why you guys go so hard on axiom players like alicia and crank . i think ryung innovation mma will beat all teams no problem .
I know Scarlett won't be playing until October but I couldn't stop myself from making here my captain.
You know, round 2 will probably start in October, when Scarlett starts playing again.
I guess she'll be dropping out of WCS Premier league then? I hope they do something like a wildcard group for all the people who placed 3rd in their U&D groups for Scarlett's spot :S
Kinda sad I can't pick any Prime or LG_IM players, but I think off the strength of Avenge/Innovation/Ryung/MMA, I should be okay. ((Would really like to have MKP and MadBull on my team))
Main Team 4 Alicia Alicia always throughly impresses me at live events. About the only time I see sloppy play from him is online stuff, and when he lost in AM challenger, his mistakes looked more like minor misclicks than any serious indication of a tilt. 5 Avenge Him and Hurricane are going to be the (former) esf Protoss powerhouses of 2014. You heard it here first. (except not First, because his year is 2013) 7 Hurricane (captain) The sky's the limit. He may have flopped in the tie-breakers of the up&downs, but he still played mostly great. 5 hyvaa I think that of all the Team Soul players, Hyvaa is the least likely to go on tilt due to the team drama. His play seems to rely the least on rock-solid macro and the most on relentless, reckless aggression, which seems like the kind of thing that doesn't leave you as easily in times of IRL stress. 1 Patience(Lucy) Azubu has a very lean lineup, and Patience seems to be the most plausible 1-pointer to make an appearance. 5 Ryung Ryung will probably never be a championship contender, but he's super consistent, and his performance last season makes me inclined to play the numbers game and put him on. 3 [tlpd#teams##sc2-korean]FXOpen[/tlpd] Gumiho just seems to go absolutely on fire sometimes, and combined with the up-and-comer Hurricane, I think they've got the second-best shot of winning it all.
Anti Team 3 Crank Every single game of his I've seen after WCS AM season 1 has been cringeworthy. Even the games he won. I don't know what's been going on with him lately. I'd love for him to prove me wrong, but in the quite likely chance that he's a trainwreck this season, I'm putting him on my anti. 4 Curious He looked distinctly deficient in ZvP recently, and his ZvT ain't what it used to be during Infestor-BL. 6 Leenock My absolute favorite player of all time. I want to be a believer. But he's just looked so mediocre after his Dreamhack win that I don't have confidence that his crazy builds, random-ass tech switches, swarms of nyduses, and baneling landmines will be executed at a level comparable to other Korean pros. If I'm horribly wrong and he utterly wrecks my fantasy GSTL, then I'll cheer for him even though he's hurting me and treat it as some SC2 make-up sex.
hey guys, I have a question about players who are designated as captains in fantasy gstl
Why do people put the highest value/person projected to do best as their captain? I would rather put a 1 pointer as my captain, because he would never be traded in the first place. The reason I pick a 1 pointer anyway is to afford the top picks. Meanwhile, my 10 pointer could be racking up wins and still be used for a trade later in the season if something happens.

No reason other than the little captain icon next to a strong player looks cool(in my case I'll never trade them anyway)

I found the reason why
Tie-breaks are decided by the team captain's score.
ah well, I'd rather have the ability to trade innovation for pretty much any player

Also, if you are creating balanced team (=a lot of 3/4/5 pointers and one like 7 pointer) instead of few one pointers and few top players, you would want to have a player that can perform the best as captain.
But yeah, if you have 1 pointer in your team, then obviously it's the best choice for captain. Problem is, I don't seem to recall such an approach (weak players that do not play + few strongest players) winning a round in fantasy leagues.
Shoot i only just woke up and was 3 seconds late to publish it.... . So hard for europeans if i don't wake up in time then i can't play in it.. anyway Goodluck to the rest

THE LAST SEASON OF FGSTL WAS NEVER FINISHED AND THERE WAS NO WINNER!
Dont waste your time with this FGSTL, its just gonna die out at some point like last season.
Last round was aborted due to the number of weeks changing mid round. With only five teams this won't happen this season.
How do you know? There is no guarantee something like that wont happen again.
You could have at least manually adjusted the points for the first 20 or 40 ranks or whichever many ranks could have an impact on the first place. "Wont happen again" seems like a lackluster excuse for poor administration.
The fact that this wasnt even mentioned during the intro of this seasons gstl shows that you dont want to deal with this situation just like you havent dealt with the situation when it was more relevant.
It is also a prediction of how this season of FGSTL will be held...
It was a good idea, but it was open only about 8 hours, and in Europe it was night... If you want to do this type of things please leave open a bit more the signup window!

Manually adjusting the top 20-40 ranks to award one icon would have taken hours upon hours...Last season's FGSTL was dead in the water before it even began unfortunately. We couldn't have predicted the change in week # because of the unannounced schedule and the system that we use dates back to BW and is highly inflexible.

Unfortunately, this wasn't possible with the short window between the announcement of the teams/lineups and the start of the first match.

is it possible to reopen the sign-ups for a few hours? new comers will be behind 1 match, but it's better than being completely left out.

Nothing you can do lol, I'm sure it was not 100% impossible for this to be up by yesterday morning (eu time). Really really sucks ass, I guess there is always round 2. Also wtf happened to liquibets? One may almost say you guys are too busy playing/interviewing dota/dota players to do your starcraft content properly.

It was mostly impossible because R1CH is in the process of moving to the Netherlands and not yet set up. We were not even sure this fantasy round would happen until a few hours before. This whole week has been busy for all of us. Same thing for liquibets.

I understand that with the moving of TL it is hard this time. But it would be really great if there was a warning a day earlier, so one would know to be on the look out in the future.

Like I said, we weren't sure if there was going to be a fantasy season this round until a few hours before it launched. We didn't want to post something a day before saying "there may or may not be a fantasy round starting tomorrow". In the future, you should try to check TL at the beginning of every round right before the first match before you go to sleep the night before.

Yes, that consistent with the scoring. Overall, you did really well with your anti-team.

Thanks monk :D this is the first time I've really wanted to commit to fantasy GSTL so the points system is a little confusing at first, especially anti-team. It's too bad, I think my season is probably already over since I didn't pick ImbaVation.
So how does the exact scoring/updating for the anti team work? I have Hurricane on my anti-team and he lost to innovation last night, but I see no point in my favor for it.
