Cheeseheadlogic is basically saying he wants all the super standard maps and I really hope that doesn't happen.

Probably shouldn't care cos it's just some random guy but he was like the only caster and called everything that's new and interesting horrible...

Thanks to Teamliquid and Heyoka for giving me the opportunity to cast the finals, was a blast! On June 07 2013 07:35 Ragoo wrote: Yep, totally disagree with this caster at well. You just need to spot really well. I don't think it was overpowered in any matchups favor because one of the games I casted a terran opened fast reactor reapers, and had 4 reapers behind the mineral line perpetually for SO long. It was apocalypse's game I believe. Also if you take that base as your third, you have to have a very mobile army. Maybe you can only do that when you have some kind of fast moving air or hellions or something to really handle it. I think the third (since it's cross only) to the side of your natural is a much better locaation for the third base as protoss if you are going colossus since your army can wedge at your ramp just past your natural and have enough moving room to defend better. Same with terran, taking that far base, but there was a lot more going on in those matches than just map balance.

That's a bad map" and "Khalims Will. I hope we never see that again" or something similar to that. I completely disagreed with his analysis for which maps were good and bad. Standards are ok, but Mereel's maps are among the most genius designs we've seen in the history of SC2 imo and the games seemed to show that they were relatively balanced.

I like maps that open up aggressive options. It's the same reason I like the proleague maps, a lot of creativity. I feel like this tournament more showcased people's abilities to quickly adapt to new styles of play and problems to deal with on different map styles.

Although it seemed to me that the players didn't know how to defend properly on some of the maps (and didn't use all of the features to the fullest extent). I imagine games on Koprulu and Mereel's maps would be longer and more stable once players figure out the best ways to play them. Also just btw, Koprulu is all spawns! Close positions doesn't have the same problem with the third though, because both expand away from the opponent and can be defended from the highground somewhat, unlike cross.
