0 foreigners at the WCS Grand Finals now :p
not a bad thing, though I wouldn't have minded either of those two scrapping by. Best foreigners are Naniwa and Lucifron, and then others like SaSe.

I have a feeling that sc2 will be only koreans and when a good foreigner steps up for some time this will happen.

Where is med school that expensive .. ~_~ Yeah if he is actively investing (he is) and making decent returns on what he isnt spending, on just a ballpark estimate of $300k he can go to med school and graduate with over 200k left over very easily. In France, med school is less than 1000$/year...

Good luck Stephano. Someone should feel obligated to setup a Polt v Stephano showmatch.

Blizzard is making very difficult for other tournaments to offer large cash prizes that run a similar schedule to WCS, which runs virtually non-stop. (It's the reason why there have been no announcements from NASL).
This, combined with allowing Koreans to compete in other regions, is going to really hurt the foreigner/NA scene. (The WCS NA premier league has only 2 NA players in the round of 16).
Expect more retirements incoming over the course of the year, as players slowly realize that all the major tournaments outside of MLG and GSL are going to be cock-blocked or scaled back dramatically due to WCS.
+ Show Spoiler +I reserve the right to be a prick about this prediction when it comes true

Disappointing but fully expected. He had made it clear several times that he intended to return to his studies before too long, he's made a fantastic amount of money for someone so young and has secured himself financially for his education, which he said was always his goal.
Thanks for the memories and good luck, though I doubt he'll disappear from the scene entirely. Would be cool to see him do guest gigs, casting or coming on talk shows. Truly a unique talent and personality.
I guess the only question will be, who will now take the mantle of best foreigner?

these people seem to forget that Stephano had his outstanding success before the patch, and in fact he was one of the absolute slowest zergs to adopt the 6 queen build in ZvT.

He lives in France, it's more than enough to pay for medical school thrice over.
|
Why does everyone keep mentioning him going to medical school? Is that confirmed? I thought that was just a rumour. People talk about the decreasing prize money as a good reason for him leaving SC2. He's a great player, but he can not get any of this prize money if he's not winning. SC2 is only going to get more and more difficult. Like he said, it is good to know when to stop.
Anyway, GG, GLHF.

since beginning he said, that he will not play for long, so no suprises here.

Stephano has mentioned that he would retire fairly early ever since his rise to fame though. :/

EG is losing 2 star players which is abit of a hard blow to them.
Idra is no longer a star player... he was literally planning on becoming a caster anyway... Either way, EG has never been about results as much as characters, and Demuslim, Incontrol, and Huk are all still pretty popular.
|
Well,
This is kinda bad for EG. Two of their biggest names are/going to be out of the team. Maybe time for other EG players to shine?
Time will tell...
|
Not surprised, but sad
Hopefully somebody fills in his shoes! (I'm looking at you TLO and Snute :D gogogo)

I love this choice. Plus the fact that the greastest foreigner to ever touch the game doesn't let his legacy get tarnished.

Suppy!

I don't even know who I'm going to cheer on when he quits

Well, he's gotta look after his future. If he can get a decent exam and get on a good university he should do it!
