I dont know if in the UK is harder to be a doctor or something, but just because you didnt get straight A's doesnt mean you wont be a doctor. I know about 5 kids who didnt get straight As and are in med school. I guess two of them you could say are hardworkers and study like there is no tomorrow in College, but the other three are just regular college kids who party, go work out, play sports, or do whatever they want. Now dont come tell me that im just so lucky that i know freaking 5 geniuses or something because im sure lots of people who have gone to college know other people who are going to med school. The only hard part of becoming a doctor is how expensive it is and the time you have to put in it before receiving anything. Med school classes are just about as hard as any grad school class for any respective subject.

Once again the problem that people come to when they try to become doctors is not that most of them are dumb or cant pass the classes, but rather "wow i require 4 years of regular college + another 4 of med school, 2-3 residency, and another 2-3 depending on what im specializing in " that is a lot of money and you wont get pay until at least 12 years from where you start. That is a heck of a commitment, and young people now a days just want to make money as fast as possible.

Because he's done a lifetime of gaming within three years?

There's only so many hours of enjoyment you can get out of a video game, even if it's Starcraft.

Erm, why? How do you know? How do you possibly know that in 10 years time e-sports wont be so big you can EASILY be a pro gamer forever? We already have people like grubby and Whitera who have been pro gamers for a long time and they seem fine, Is their some magical force stopping them from competing as time goes on? Stop being so "old fashioned", you are half the reason e-sports isnt doing as well as it is. You support it yet say "you cant be a pro gamer forever" thus also condemning it at the same time.

I don't know about you guys but I would love for e-sports to be as big as football, rugby, tennis or any of the other "real sports". That will only happen if people want it to, so the very fans of it condemning it by saying that you can't get a career as a pro gamer aren't helping.

I will bet you any amount of money you like that Esports won't ever be anywhere near as big as football.

Really, are you really going down that road?

40 years ago a 1mb harddisk was over the top, no graphics nada. DOS mode.
30 years ago you barely had the NES.. 8-bit graphics and like 10mb harddisks.
after that came 100mb harddisk, people thought that would be the limit, then came 1gb harddisk, they said the same, then came 100gb harddisk, once again they said the same. Now we're up to 5-10TB harddisks.

Same goes for graphics, 8-bit -> 16 bit -> 32 bit > first 3d games > more advanced 3d games > games were Niche and would never really be profitable. And look at games now, in like 15-20 years time, they evolved from pixellated 2d games into beautiful 3D environments.

Gaming and e-sports, or IT in its whole, have evolved /FASTER/ in this short amount of time than anything else EVER has.

So your 'assumptions', will come around and haunt you. I will be coming in to cash in on your entire wealth, once e-sports becomes bigger.

15 years ago, gaming was for nerds and awkward people. Nowadays you're the awkward/outsider when you dónt have a gameconsole. Hell little kids, even parents have at least a wii or xbox or something, when you don't - you're weird.

I'd love e-sports to be as big as football too.

But Stephano can't make 100 grand a year forever in e-sports. Athletes naturally start to underperform after some time. Also, in 10 years Blizzard will probably have forgotten SC2 e-sports on behalf of more recent games. Just

However, if he becomes a doctor he'll easily make more than 100 grand a year. So it's easy math. Hard, unstable career that doesn't depend solely on your own efforts vs comfortable living standard saving lives.

He isn't becoming a Doctor. The whole thing about him becoming a Doctor is so hilarious to me, as if you can just decide one day to become a Doctor.

I really don't like the cocky/immature tone of your posts. You can deicde you want to go into university and follow a long edicuation towards becoming a doctor. Stephano is by no means limited or dumb, he's a progamer. He knows what dedication is and he's obviously extremely intelligent. If he has the money (which he has) and the ability to attend a proper university, yes he can become a doctor.

That's because you live in a crazy make believe world where people can decide to become doctors whenever they like even though they spent their teenage years playing games and not getting the straight A's and life experience you need just to even have a chance of getting on the course (that is if you can also do well at interview and pass the entrance exam). Never mind the difficulty in completing the five years at Uni.

You also live in a crazy make believe world where playing computer games (something still enjoyed only by a minority even in it's more core demographic of 18-25 years old males nevermind outside that demographic) is going to overrtake actual physical sport, which is something so ingrained in human history and behavior one could argue it is and has always been the defining past time of our entire species (after drinking and having sex, maybe you think Esports will be more popular than alcohol too one day?).

So yes, hard drives doubling in size does in fact have absolutely fuck all to do with watching people playing computer games becoming more popular than football.

Just to precise, everybody can get on the course in France. You need to get better marks than others to pass the 1st year though (numerus clausus).

ps: also, it's free.

Indeed. In the UK at least you have a 0% chance of getting on the course without straight A's and straight doesn't mean you're on either, it just means they'll actually consider you.

Well then the good thing is that he isnt from the UK huh. Sadly im not from france nor have i ever lived there so i can't tell you how med school is there but who knows maybe France is easier than UK, so technically he could just go and be a doctor.

He is so talented at SC2 and he'll want adoration and respect.

If the US, if you have enough money anyone can go to med school.

But in the US college and university are a business.

You live in a make belive world, if you think that the world is not in a state of constant changes.
Also, the number one rule AND deciding factor for succeeding in a career path, is the "hunger" to do it.

PS: Nobody watched football until mid 1800, yet football as a game had existed since ancient egypt.
I can do anything i want, until otherwise is proven.

He is going to luxembourg where you basically gotta do courses and pass better than others to pass on to the next year. I believe it's the way he is trying to go. Money for living there shouldn't be a problem. Smart one

So, you think that the size of floppy disks today is an indication that esports will, eventually, overtake football, cricket and other actual sports, which are basically watched by, lets say, billions of people.

Wow... you know what, when the day comes you may come after all my wealth too.

I don't know a single person from my year that will get their offers without straight As :/

If the US, if you have enough money anyone can go to med school.

But in the US college and university are a business.

The amount of money required for that would get you a spot in any med school Don't be ridiculous.

In France if you graduated from High School you can go to med school, but at the end of the first year you have to be in the numerus closus (around 12% of people going to med school will actually reach the 2nd year).

edit : but it's free

This makes so much more sense than the German system, wherein your NC depends on your high school grades...

It sounds even more stupid than the US system. Basically they're wasting an entire year of loads of people's lives for no reason. Ridiculous.
