Following numerous complaints earlier today about having problems with logging in or downloading Battle.net data players are now able to play full version of Wings of Liberty on servers other than their original license is for. For example EU players are free to log in and create fully functional character on NA and vice versa, provided they have appropriate game client.
We don't know yet if this is just a last stage test or permanent change to be announced today or tomorrow by Blizzard.
EDIT #8: Blizzard: "Global Play has not yet been released. What people are experiencing is the work that is being done behind-the-scenes in preparation for it's official launch. We’ll have more information about it soon. Keep in mind that once it is released, you'll be able to switch regions on the login screen and will NOT have to download multiple StarCraft II clients. Feel free to refer to our Global Play blog and the FAQ."
Wings of Liberty Global Play live: EU - confirmed ♥ NA - confirmed ♥ SEA - confirmed ♥ KR - confirmed ♥ TW - confirmed ♥ CN - will not be available :'(
EDIT #1: As of now players are not able to post on forums for other than their original region. EDIT #2: Since this is still to be announced change players are required to install separate game client in order to be able to play on foreign servers (read important notice below). Blizzard plans to patch every game client with option to switch regions freely so if you are patient enough you might not need to download game second or third time). EDIT #3: Battle.net accounts with multiple region licenses work exactly the same (nothing has changed so far). EDIT #4: If you log in as Starter Edition try logging into battle.net www account manager first. You can also try a repair tool. EDIT #5: An acquaintance of mine called Blizzard support. Works should be done by the end of this weekend. EDIT #6: Regarding Starter Edition problem - try typing in wrong password first, then correct one. EDIT #7: addendum to #5: Accounts are being cleared/updated progressively, it will take time to process millions of them. Feel free to refer to our Global Play blog and the FAQ." EDIT #9: NA player had issue with the Starter edition. He changed his password which solved the problem for him. EDIT #10: You can publish maps on every Global Play server, use regions.xml method on editor's settings. EDIT #11: Temporary changing your DNS might resolve your connection issues to the US http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/7708411977 EDIT #12: Simon's Starcraft II Relocalizer has been updated! http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=357860 EDIT #13: Battle.net accounts have now one "Global" license for Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm. EDIT #14: Global posting on Blizzard StarCraft 2 forums is now enabled. http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/6635414130

So if you change the region, you can't go back to the original reason without manually switching back right?
|
Can we play on KR with this, or would we need to use TW if we don't have an ID?

Of course you can IF you WILL NOT overwrite original installation. Just select different installation path. If you have trouble with switching back to your original region because of "authorised language pack" message jsut go to your Variables.txt file and erase localeidassets= and localeiddata= values (delete language strings after "=")
Variables.txt should be located somewhere here: "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\StarCraft II\Variables.txt"

I imagine that will be the case when they actually launch the feature. What's happening now seems to be a a side effect of Blizzard laying the groundwork for the feature. As far as I know, the feature itself is not actually live.

It is different because you don't need multiple install paths for each client. The program changes the necessary files and you go on about your business without worrying about fucking it up.

oh yea sorry i misread it ^^ anyway the op has added the relocalizer
|
At work so I can't try this now, but is this right?
Before: You need both a localized client for that region and an account for that region. After: You still need the localized client, but now you can use an account from any region on any other region?
So before, I had used the relocalizer to install the Korean client, but since I only have an NA account, I could only play the demo using the Korean client. Now, I should be able to use the Korean client on the Korean server, but with my NA account?
From the error message someone earlier got, I guess you do still need to use that region's client to login. So you cannot login to the KR server using an NA client.

The Relocalizer checks the ping beforehand for you. I don't know how accurate that actualy is though.
Shows me my ping from EU to NA would be about 130 so not really worth it for me.

@ just played a game on kr server, its not that much delay from eu to KR, about 0,8 secish? quite playable

hah yeah looks like the free name changes we were just given to our accounts are gone now

Probably the sound assets.

Is anyone else only getting Starter Edition access when they switch using the relocalizer? It seems like it's working for other people, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
|
Cool! Looking forward to playing against people from different countries!
|
only got 1 placement even though i havent played tw in a long time...kinda dumb but the pings really up probably cause of all the people tryin to play or something. Used to have extremely little delay from NY but now its like 1.5 seconds maybe more
|
yep, works fine atm. well, the new hots patch and this one here line up perfectly with the final exams. FML
|
I'm also only getting Starter Edition when I relocalise to kr anyone know how to resolve this?
|
I hope they add a way to switch on one client without a third party tool by hots release xD
|
Hmm i can sign onto NA with my EU account but not onto EU with my NA account details :/
I've tried repair tool and logging onto the account management site but nothing's fixed it.Odd.

They obviously will, the SEA client already has some of that built in. It'll possibly come in a small patch.
|
its working for me. Im from EU and can play KW and NA , but KW is high ping, NA works really fine.
|
I did it so awesome first game was against another guy switching haha. But for me on east coast USA I was rly surprise almost no lag.
|
is anyone getting an internal global error on kr server?
|
I am having the same problem as a couple other people, I am from NA trying to play on EU and it only lets me choose to play starter edition when logging in. ^_^
|
I got inernal global error on the KR server, but then I just tried logging in a second time and was able to log in
|
guys hows the latency from eu to kr, playable???
|
I have a korean client installed on my computer. I logged in with my SEA account and its working yeah!!
|
I got a different problem - I can login on NA from EU, but when I start 1v1 matchmaking, it says "There was a problem downloading this content. Try again later". Seems I can't download the maps? Anyone got same error?

Why you can't wait a bit till it will be finished and officially announced?

Everybody jump in to play on KR, what they don't realize they will most likely play other white dudes on lag KR won't handle the influx of players this weekend and you will play against EU/NA players anyway :D
|
Wasn't able to relocalise to Korea, did manage to get on Europe though.
|
Yay i got korean client and server to work! ^^
|
Wow this is pretty awesome.!!
|
I used the Relocalizer, switched to koKR, but when I tried to log in I got a "GLOBAL_INTERNAL_ERROR" message ;_;
|
How do you fix the starter edition problem?? I'm trying to login NA server with my KR account.

Well, this now allows me to play Terran. Minutes after scrapping for a win against a gold Zerg, I am starting to kind of not feel as stoked about this

Close SC2, re-open it. Type in a wrong password the first time you do it, get the error and then type in the real password. It worked for me.

Well, that did something, now it's giving me a different error message, but I can't read Korean so I don't know what it says :/

That's great, I managed to play on KR, but what I want since I'm learning Korean is to actually be able to keep the Korean client while playing with my buddies on EU.
Is it possible atm or should I wait for Blizz to make an official move ?

Hi guys i used the relocilizer, its working downloading now will update when its done updating

I keep getting starter edition TT.

It is totally unnecessary to download a new client or use a relocalizer (unless you want different voices or text). Just create a file called regions.xml in your StarCraft II program files folder (where the Starcraft II.exe is) with the following contents.
<regions> <region displayname="AUTHENTICATION_SG_REGION" hostname="sg" allowedProductLocales="all" localesThatDefaultToThisRegion="enSG"/> <region displayname="AUTHENTICATION_US_REGION" hostname="us" allowedProductLocales="all" localesThatDefaultToThisRegion="enUS"/> <region displayname="AUTHENTICATION_EU_REGION" hostname="eu" allowedProductLocales="all" localesThatDefaultToThisRegion="enGB"/> <region displayname="AUTHENTICATION_KR_REGION" hostname="kr" allowedProductLocales="all" localesThatDefaultToThisRegion="koKR"/> </regions> This will cause the Region button which SEA has had for the longest time to appear (it fades in after a while), but the strings for AUTHENTICATION_EU_REGION and AUTHENTICATION_KR_REGION were only added in 1.5.4.

Sick news, being able to switch servers now for WoL, and watching replays with other people and taking it further with that replay is totally sick~

It only appears when you aren't logging in, so if you have it set to Remember Account (so that when you start it is already at the password prompt), you have to cancel that first.

I'm having the same thing, I made that file, as well as tried the log in then out, as well as not remembering the username but the Region box isn't popping up anywhere for me.

It all works for me (I have together with HotS BETA, 5 SC2 clients), except I can't change nicknames and that pisses me off!

What would be considered good ping? Can somone give a rough scale? From Very good to unplayable? My tracert to kr.battle.net gives pings from 100 -350 (which I think is pretty good considering I'm in Ireland - read, other side of the world). Is doing a tracert to the bnet site a fair equivalent of what the game servers would be like?
My ping to the US is pretty good, it times out after about 23 tries and gets alot of sub-100s (95ish). Only one goes over 200 (a lot of 170s). This is playable isn't it? Sub 150 is alright, sub-100 is decent (50s is good/very good). Would I be correct?
Again, I'm just looking for some input on a rough scale and if my numbers for my country might be good. Also, I'm assuming the first few "hops" with low ping are local ones (like the first onwe is 1, which is my network I'm guessing, and the next 2 are less than 15).
Thanks! I Time to tear up NA

When you go to "Save As..." in notepad, and you type in the name you want to save it as, there's a dropdown box below where you can select "All Files" and type a file extension after the name when you save (.xml in this case.)

Is the latency supposed to be this bad? On average around 250ms from east coast to Korea.

On January 25 2013 10:30 Lemure wrote: Is the latency supposed to be this bad? On average around 250ms from east coast to Korea.
Depends on where you live and if you are lucky.
For instance I rarely get latency on korea (although it has been 6 months since I last played on there so it's possible it got worse, but I hope not).
It's really about luck, you could have an amazing internet connection but just be in that part of the world that has awful connection to korea.

Just found this Blizzard post in the general discussion forum:
Global Play has not yet been released. What people are experiencing is the work that is being done behind-the-scenes in preparation for it's official launch. We’ll have more information about it soon.
Keep in mind that once it is released, you'll be able to switch regions on the login screen and will NOT have to download multiple StarCraft II clients.
Feel free to refer to our Global Play blog and the FAQ.
The part about "will not have to download multiple SC2 clients" is interesting. Are we sure that we have to download multiple clients in Wings?

Starcraft II.exe is generally something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II"
(If you are using 32 bit Windows, there will be no (x86).)
Make sure windows is set to display the full extension. Go to "Organize" (it's a button on the top left of the window inside folders) > Folder and search options > View > "Uncheck" "Hide extensions for known file type". Then right click, create a .txt file called "Regions.txt", then paste in what the person wrote, then click on the name of "Regions.txt" and change the name from Regions.txt to Regions.xml.

and make it: localeidassets=enUS localeiddata=enUS

No need to get different accounts for different regions.

I also like to add that for the region button to appear, make sure to click the "Up Arrow" next to your account name on the SC2 login screen (this should make it so you have to enter the account name again).
The region button should appear on the mid left side once you click it.
(This only matters if you had the account name saved, otherwise it should appear already.)

People have suggested changing your password on battle.net fixes the Starter Edition problem on SEA. The NA issue is probably this.
Make sure the file is actually called regions.xml (and not .xml.txt or something like that) and is in your c:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II folder (i.e. not in My Documents).

WOW amazing. It works, that xml file works perfectly! I just played on the KR server. Only reason I know is because the guy had a Korean name lol and man, these guys are just insanely aggressive. I mean I haven't played SCII in a while but when they say these guys play to win, they mean it! The guy went one base dts into chargelots and eventually managed to take out my expansion and then he did a 2 base colossus all in with his probes and some stalkers. I managed to hold that because I had like 6 medivacs and a decent enough army+focus fire but ya, I feel like this is how SCII should be lol

I can't seem to be able to get the region switcher button. I didn't install any separate game client, just made an xml file in my sc2 folder. What am I missing? I don't have the remember account button checked either. I can see the client name (US) but no button.

#1 gold on kr server. woot woot. ;p

regions.xml thing not working for me, no region switcher appears!

Yea, as long as don't lose any games, it'll only take u a couple of days at the most to get to GM on SEA. Such a shame really, there are good players from the region but not enough actually play the SEA ladder (i've been kicked out of GM for inactivity so many times, and at this point, it's pretty meaningless to me).

Thanks for XML code. I've studied it recently for my Database module. It's designed for data storage, and well... it's what it does here too. ^^

The xml file is just a notepad document with those contents, right? It's not doing anything for me.

Completely unplayable lag on servers other then NA here in PA

Yep but you'd need to use the localizor to pick TW/KR language if that's what you prefer. Otherwise it says as enGB (english).

It says "us" over the buttons but it's unclickable.

This is a stupid question, but If I have only a NA account, can I play on other servers without buying another one? Also, can I play on NA and KR at the same time (switch between both any time I choose)

Yes. Just read OP carefully. Pay attention to regions.xml

Yes, with Global Play you can play on any server with any voice asset (already can before Global Play) and only your-region-text-localization
Short answer: Yes you can play in all regions
Also, can I play on NA and KR at the same time (switch between both any time I choose) First, I see no reason to play like that. Second, you can't launch more than one game client at time

korean server super laggy, still gonna give it a go though :\
|
Anyone from Europe tried Korean servers? How is the ping?
|
It will nott laggy, atleast for me, if you just just low settings. The ping is quite high, haven't tested it but play on the kr server You just have to accept, that your units take your command about 200ms slower than usual

Yes, so much good coming from Blizzard lately, I'm very impressed!

Got super excited, ping 300 normally to Korea. Damn =/
|
I am from the west coast of Canada and I played on the Korean server. I didn't bother checking ping or anything like that... just played a few games and seems fine! So exciting!
|
sc2 improving immensely
timely enough for HotS
|
This will allow me to have another account to a hopefully low ping server (NA ?) in order to have a different MMR. This will allow me to play other races or random without ruining my experience with my main race. Who will use it this way ?
|
Everyone will tryhard and play on korean servers. From bronze to masters :D
|
god kr plat is like NA masters O_O
|
Even if EU->KR is pretty much unplayable it's still fun to be able to play on NA. Haven't tried SEA yet but would be fun to see if I could get to play some GM:s there.

Is EU->NA ok? I haven't tried in WoL but playing the beta felt pretty horrible.
|
Played my 5 placement-games on NA and omg was that easy. I'm Plat on EU but I didn't played 1v1 WoL since like 3month and even the Plat I played against was really terrible. The first guy wanted to Planetary Rush me LOL :D - never saw that on EU xD I'll try KR soon, but I don't think thats playable.
|
Good stuff, it works! Just watch out, I accidentally played my first game in the practice league. Directed the poor guy to TL and Day9...
|
I am gold on NA SEA and today i got gold on EU. I must say that I only played 3 placement matches on 1v1 korean server and i got put against a silver league guy who did an immortal sentry all in who pushed at 9 mins with sentrys immortals and warprpism...i played on na and sea ALOT and this is the first time i've seen someone who is not a grandmaster player doing an immortal sentry all in at 9 mins...lucky i saw it coming so i had my flanks set up already...but still this guy was silver league and he played like a diamond player

Yeah and then they will realize it doesn't really make a difference because they match you with people against your skill level. The only difference is one server lag and the other one doesnt. Playing on a "better" server doesn't make you better if you dont know what you are doing wrong.
|
The lag to KR for me (Netherlands) is 300ms+, while to the US it's only ~150. So US is doable, but KR is undoable I feel. Too bad. :/

I love people like you who actually are incredibly wrong in many aspects.
For starters you may be ranked by the same MMR but the players on korea that you play have much better build orders, execution, micro and macro. Unless you are bronze league then you are right you will probably get slaughtered on korea and not learn anything. If you are at plat-diamond at least you will improve fast on korea because of the different timings they do and how well they do it even at those low levels.
Trust me if you played on korea and you got matched with people of the same "mmr" you would still see the skill difference night and day whether it's a well executed cheese with a well executed follow up plan to a player who macros and has a good plan.
|
True on many respects ^ But masters and below, there is still a large share of players who can't macro well.

so much spastic cheese and gimmicky play

OK, so I created the regions.xml file, got the button, can choose different servers, managed to set new account on SEA but for some reason when i try to login to NA nothing happens. No message, nothing. Any ideas what could be wrong?

I've played a few games already and I'm in gold KR, just like I was on EU (gold). Funny, it seems to me that Korean golds are worse than EU golds for some reason - at least in my experience. Terrible macro and execution across the board lol. Maybe it's just my luck... Who knows?

why do you put the best solution as the last option in the op? i was already downloading new clients and it works so well with the regions.xml :D

hihi happy people! with the global play, i download the korean client to play there, but i found that nice way that u just create a new file so u can play on all the servers with only one client, so i uninstalled the korean client, but i made a mistake and instead of unistall the korean, i uninstalled the NA client (lol) and now i have only the korean client...., i know that i can play on all regions with it, but i dont know how to speak korean, so i would like to know if there is any way to turn the language to english instead of korean language? or i will need to download the NA client again? thx! =D

The matchmaking system will match you against people with the same skill level as you , whatever server you are playing on, unless you are playing at the highest level, where it may be easier to find opponents on the korean server.

I just had a problem creating the .xml file on windows 7 and fixed it, so I want to share this. When you create a file (standard .txt) when you save this as regions.xml, it can get saved as regions.xml.txt without you knowing.
I went to Control Panel, 'Appearance and Personalisation' then 'Folder Options' and in the display tab I unchecked 'hide extensions'. This had .txt show up in my starcraft 2 folder, so I could easily erase the .txt extension, the system asked if I wanted to change the extension of this file, checked yes and now everything works!

my bad BloodyDwarf!

Haha, I just played my placement matches on KR server and I didn't meet an actual Korean, it were all americans/europeans.

used regions.xml
works great. great to for fucking once play different sets of custom games available.

Thank you. Now its working

I played on the Korea server and got placed in Gold but I can't connect to NA. When I try to connect just nothing happens. So EU to Korea works but EU to NA doesn't. Can anyone help me with that?
|
For some reason i cannot login to US server the other servers work just fine. But i dont know what is up with the US server
|
Works perfect with the regions.xml file thank you all for ur dedicated work,.... And thanks blizzard, this is the best thing that happend to starcraft since a long time.... so bye guys, going on the kr server now, being a total noob but feeling like the greatest badass ever with my new korean "smurf" xDDDD Best day 2013 so far
|
Cool! Will be laddering with random on NA if it doesn't lag too much
|
Im sure the answer is in here somewhere, but how do I keep the English lettering when logging onto the KR server? I started out with the NA version of the game, and when I relocalize to KR it switches all of the text.
|
I had trouble logging on to the US server, I then tried the Korean server and it worked. Then I tried the US server again and it worked too. I don't know what was wrong but I'm happy laddering it up!
|
I don't see anything but the letters US no box or anything and even did a repair seems like its not setup yet for public use and is just in testing but since I can't click and switch regions I guess NA will have to work for me for now.
|
guys i just started playing on KR and does anyone know how i can change the language from english to korean?

the game, u must install separate client.
|
I used Simon thingy and got onto the KR server, made a new ID etc etc but it seems that It's a starter's edition? (Cant do more than 1v1 or 2v2 and map choise is limited to the old ones)
Anyone can help ?
EDIT: Nvm I'm an idiot.

i dont think what client you use matters as long as yo use regions.xml to connect to different servers. choice of client will be just for sound/ui.
|
Many people seems to struggle connecting into NA server. Any ideas?
|
Even after adding regions.xml file to my SC2 folder, I see the same two options in the region button for SEA and NA(i have the SEA client)... cant find EU and KR on this list.... also, when i try to use the relocalizer i cant relocalize due to some error
|
I can connect to every server (besides the Chinese of course) with the regions.xml
The delay on the Korean server is huge but NA is working fine for me, almost no delay
|
NA works well. I'm EU myself. Trying out my awesome T skills on NA :D Won 4 Placement matches, got into silver ^_^ such a baws.
|
is anyone experiencing major lag when playing in other regions? thats my main concern, not being able to play lag-free in other regions

No lag for me, although I haven't tried playing on the Korean server yet.
|
On January 26 2013 06:52 probeater wrote: is anyone experiencing major lag when playing in other regions? thats my main concern, not being able to play lag-free in other regions it's the internet, ofcourse there will be lag.

That's it. Officially getting back into this game 0.0
|
right so I try logging on to US from EU and I select my region and all and then enter my password and then I just get this + Show Spoiler + blank screen and nothing happens. Can somebody help oh gawd jeez please?
|
Works fine for me. I tried laddering on korea and it was playable at my level. At higher levels it will become difficult, i think.
|
WOOT regions.xml thing worked for me!! logging into EU! hopefully it doesnt lag in game
|
|
Where exactly is the region button suppost to appear once you've made the regions.xml file ?
|
On January 26 2013 08:31 Chr15t wrote: Where exactly is the region button suppost to appear once you've made the regions.xml file ?
on the left side of the screen, above where 'options' and 'manage accounts' are displayed
|
|
NA is actualy not lagging for me at all. just as good as EU :D korea on the other hand.... about 400MS
|
yeah korea is kinda bad from europe.
But the skill difference in lower leagues is not as big as I expected. I am diamond on EU and beat platin koreans with that lag. I guess that will change drastically when you hit high diamond/masters.^^
|
Regions.xml thing worked for me as well, I've had no problems creating an NA ID - played some ladder, was perfect. Also no problems switching back to EU.
*edit* No lag or other problems as well.
|
Can't connect to NA from EU, not so cool since i'm experiencing huge latency on others servers.
|
Did the Regions.xml thing. But i cant login to another server than eu -.-
|
Someone to the rescue with EU-->NA needed! 7.7 Other regions working fine but big amount of lag.
|
Well, here's the proof that if you take something from yourself for 3 years, it feels pretty good when you get it back. Even though you never actually gained anything.
|
wooo got korean server to work, although im getting delay which is wierd because when i played on it half a year ago it was perfect, no lag, no delay felt like was playing on NA still
|
kr is playable in australia, though silver players are playing like high plat/low diamond lol.
|
What is the OS he talked about in the downloading part?
|
Cant find a single match in Korea .......on the bright side im doing better in EU and SEA for some reason EZPZ.
|
how to change taiwan language to korean?
|
This is so weird... Using Simon's relocalizer, I can't log in. Tried using the official way to change regions in game, but no such button exists, even after removing the "Remember my account".
Edit: Works now o.O
|
region.xml doesnt work for me. Only SEA/NA available in the options like they used to. any solutions?
|
This is heaven but why after 2 years Blizzard ?? Nevermind, glad this feature finally arrived
|
Korean server is so laggy... Sad panda.
|
Working for me, just clicked on the "Region" button and that's all ..... used Relocalizer to chance Voice assets ...... hope everything goes well for you guys !!!!!
|
Global Play has not yet been released. What people are experiencing is the work that is being done behind-the-scenes in preparation for its official launch. We’ll have more information about it soon.
Keep in mind that once it is released, you'll be able to switch regions on the login screen and will NOT have to download multiple StarCraft II clients.
Feel free to refer to our Global Play blog and the FAQ.
Globalplay is on the backend but the system isnt complete as there is issues with it on website as well which is why it isnt implamented yet.
From a support ticket
It can be done, However I dont recomend doing it at this time. Right now we are having issues with StarCraft II some fully licensed accounts are showing up as trial accounts and I couldnt effectly determain if I was removing a retail account or not at this time. I do not want to risk removing one of your retail accounts.

Seriously, this nonsense has to stop. A diamond on the NA is really not the same as silver on korea. What I can believe is that a 800 points diamond on NA is a 600 points diamond on korea. But don't come with "golds on korea are as good as masters on NA".

Im just saying what I feel, but it is weird cuz I just defeated a top 8th Diamond, may be Silvers and Golds are people from higher leagues on NA and EU who are trying Korean Ladder too .... o O
|
Well, truthfully i was having no trouble winning NA PLAT/Diamond whatsoever, but man im actually losing games in gold league on the KR server...(albeit not losing a whole lot but still...)
EDIT: NM, checked and realize they were matching me up with diamond leagues, and i've been losing to them all along xD

He cant cancel the log-in. Only thing he can do is to close the game trough the task manager even though its not frozen.

Korean server lags a lot harder than SEA. SEA is actually absolutely playable. Didn't expect that.

I got this error first while trying to log on to NA. I then logged on to KR, then tried NA again and it worked. Strange but somehow that fixed it for me. I hope you get lucky as well.
|
My account got locked because I played on kr/tw, na and eu servers the same day. Apparently I can't be on all those continents the same day! Also when I tried to unlock my account it didnt accept the first letters/numbers of my sc2 cd key :D. Barely remembered the answer to secret question tho. I would of lost my bnet account otherwise. Wonder what the fuck and why it happened to me only.
|
The features really cool, and I know I'm going to be hopping NA/EU for a while, since KR is laggy for me.

hey guys!! i currently play on the EU server and can play in the NA server now using the regions.xml method, but I tried to play a custom game with a friend who lives in mexico but I cant seem to create a custom game, are custom games not available yet for global play?

Hi all,
I just released a new version that hopefully fixes most of the errors you guys experienced.
Download Address: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23413195/SimonsRelocalizer.v1.2.0.zip
New Version will:
1. Force to run as Administrator 2. Will not preserve the old versions of .agent.db, or Launcher.db, or Product.SC2Archive 3. Will add regions.xml to the SC2 installation folder when you relocalize. 4. Will send an email directly to me if there is an error (if you would love to send me the error message)

I'm curious what happens to ppl who already have all different region licences on their battle net account :-?

They get screwed, that's all

Pretty much. If people bought new games under different emails then they will have multiple accounts to use globally. However if you did like me and put it under the same email then we effectively have no extra license that we paid for.

The talk of Korean ladder is no exaggeration. I am mid master in Eu, took me 2 days to get number 1 master in NA (lol). I have only played 1 game on Kor (lag is pretty bad, unplayable really). I played a Bronzie, PvP. He did a Sentry Immo expand off 2 Gates (pretty standard build in PvP). made probes. Did an attack with his units. He made Probes. He macroed properly off 2 bases and executed a decent attack. I won pretty handily, but honestly, this level of play is unheard of in EU Bronze. They don't even know how to make workers properly, let alone execute a 2 base attack reasonably cleanly. The Bronzie felt like a mid-high Plat to me.

Yeah, Im Diamond on NA and currently Gold in Korea ladder, and today a Terran harassed me sooo well with a Thor drop .... Sniped all my queens at the 8 min mark ... nice and clean movement ..... ZvZ are sooo freaking hard, at this level I will improve faster than on NA ....,
|
As a high Platinum Terran, I had no problem owning my Terran opponent in the first placement match. The lag was terrible though. How do the pros deal with it?
|
Keep in mind that a lof of players made the switch. So it's pretty possible you're facing the opponent that were actually better than what their rank currently show.

It is a different style I think we only have to adapt to their gameplay, I was placed in silver went 4-1 in placement matches, and after 20 games, im now on Platinum !!!! XD ......

does anyone know how to fix the language pack error on the korean server?
|
playing "destroy temple: pro gamer battle" i missed playing this so much, so glad to see theres sc2 version of it :D
try it on kr custom! "신전부수기: 프로게이대전"
|
On Korea, not only do I get a 200-400 ms delay from my actions actually happening but I occasionally get 2-4 seconds of "everything is frozen" lag spikes (which seems more like client side lag than network lag).
Anyone else experience this?

Have you tried the regions.xml trick (it's described in the first few pages) to get the region button to appear?
Also remember once you have region.xml in your SC2 folder, click on the "up arrow" next to your email/login name in the SC2 login screen, then the region button should appear.

i also had lag issues on the KR server so i did some research on the web and found 2 tools that helped with the lag a ton. here are the links:
leatrix latency fix http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info13581-LeatrixLatencyFix.html

the wtfast app is free for 31 days then u have to pay for it. i gave it a go and it helped a ton. make sure that u select the KR server in the app. also i read online that graphic and sound settings add to lag if they are too high. hope this helps

Does anyone else have experience using these apps? I've never heard of them until now.. and a TL search doesn't really yield any results besides a closed thread from 2010. Does Leatrix Plus even work for SC2?

Oops, I meant to say Leatrix Latency Fix--that's what I downloaded too. I don't know if I noticed any improvement on the KR server, but that could also be due to heavy traffic on my apartment's internet. Maybe if I try during off hours...

can't use my KR account to log onto my NA... says I need a language pack? wtf? anyone know about this?
|
Did anyone find a fix for this NA issue? I can log in to every other region and play normal ladder games (no starter edition) on KR, SEA and my home EU, but when I input my password and click connect I get this: + Show Spoiler [screenshot] +
I've even uninstalled my SC2 and I've downloaded/installed clear EU version.
Edit. There is a solution, apparently it's ISP/routing related on the blizzard side. To work around it you need to use different DNS address, I've tested it with google 8.8.8.8/8.8.8.4 and it works fine. Strange thing is, this is somewhat related to cache or something because I've logged in once, it looked it's working and changed back to me default DNS. But I couldn't see ladders and map names etc. I've changed it back to google, looked around different pages/tabs of client and it suddenly was again on default DNS. I can now ladder/que for custom games on my default DNS (I've done it on google) but for example I cannot join a lobby (didn't do it previously).

Or lag. I have terrible lag on KR playing from EU. But actually that does not really matter in MMR rating.

Good thing I already installed KR for the language pack

Anyone with EU main account having problems with NA starter edition? The biggest problem I notice is that when I play HotS it says I can't go past lvl 2 because I have only a starter NA account o.O
|
For all EU folts that have problems with connecting to the NA server.
Change your DNS to a google one's 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4. After switching DNS i have no problems with playing on NA.

This is so incredible. Thank you for the information and heads up! WOOHOO!! Time to get some placement matches on SEA, EU, and KR so I can see what my real skill level is.

SUPER happy blizzard did this! such a good idea

How does this affect people with multi-region licenses on one account? For example, the people that have an NA, EU and KR license, will they have 3 accounts available to them, or will they just be laughed at, for having paid triple the money for the same functionality others have?

do i need to have the authenticator? i mean, cuz i did this... i created a text file called regions.xml... and copy that information at the sc2 folder..
<regions> <region displayname="AUTHENTICATION_SG_REGION" hostname="sg" allowedProductLocales="all" localesThatDefaultToThisRegion="enSG"/> <region displayname="AUTHENTICATION_US_REGION" hostname="us" allowedProductLocales="all" localesThatDefaultToThisRegion="enUS"/> <region displayname="AUTHENTICATION_EU_REGION" hostname="eu" allowedProductLocales="all" localesThatDefaultToThisRegion="enGB"/> <region displayname="AUTHENTICATION_KR_REGION" hostname="kr" allowedProductLocales="all" localesThatDefaultToThisRegion="koKR"/> </regions>
ok xD but.. when i open sc2 WoL it doesnt show the button "regions"... i think something is wrong.. do i need to do something else? do i need to download the client as the other regions? i mean, it is not working for me please ask me.. please answer me ty

AUTHENTICATION |= Authenticator
the .xml thing works perfect if you don't have the "remember account" thing marked.

Are you sure you saved the .txt as a .xml and it isn't actually regions.xml.txt?
And the regions.xml method works fine for me even if i have save accounts ticked.
EDIT: Not sure if i am allowed to share this. (Please inform me if i am not, i will remove it immediately)
Regions.xml

With the file regions.xml it's wont work for me
|
At first, i didnt get the region button too - try clicking "change account" and then click outside the box so that nothing blinks in the box. The region button should pop up after a few seconds then.

Thanks

omg thank u sooo much PressItDown.. i didnt know that i needed to save this as a XML archive lol.. i just made a text file called regions.xml lol.. so fail XD thank u again bro

why is it patching the game ? I am using the regions.xml version.
Edit: it was stuck on 0% and it autoclosed after some time. Edit2: does it matter that i have starcraft2 in italian ? Edit3: disregard everything I said, I am too ashamed to tell what i had done.

Weird my Korean account doesn't work on EU and NA Says you need authorized language pack I tried this with korean client and english one.. Also tried changing it in variables.ini
Nothing works..

"Sc2 Installation folder"? Maybe there's one I don't know about? I put it in there and ran it but it said that it wasn't the installation folder. Can someone be more clear?

Wherever the starcraft II.exe is located. On my setup it's D:\SC2. Not in the My Documents folder.

Anyone knows if they implemented some sort of region switcher? I'd love to uninstall my two redundant SC2 clients & only keep one and free up my HDD a bit... <,<

On January 25 2013 09:00 xpaperclip wrote: It is totally unnecessary to download a new client or use a relocalizer (unless you want different voices or text). Just create a file called regions.xml in your StarCraft II program files folder (where the Starcraft II.exe is) with the following contents.

This will cause the Region button which SEA has had for the longest time to appear (it fades in after a while), but the strings for AUTHENTICATION_EU_REGION and AUTHENTICATION_KR_REGION were only added in 1.5.4.

The regions.xml technic works just fine.
Now I wanted to go SEA to see if 2.0.4 was already online on SEA but now when I start SC2 it gets me back to the launcher screen no possibility to get the region back to anything else. Any clue anyone ?
|
<because u don't have patch 2.0.4 on ur client It wants to load the patch but finds nothing

I'm having the same problem as Anatase, I just finished downloading it though and my client will crash anyways right after the raynor load screen.
No opportunity to switch back to another server
|
Same here, EU. I've been playing on NA for the past few weeks (regions.xml method) if this makes a difference (as in it has automatically selected Americas as the server for login since that what I played last). Repair install doesn't work, tried it twice.
|
Guess u have to wait till EU gets patched. Usually this happens when the client realizes it has a lower verson than the server, then it ends itself and launches the game launcher to get the patch but since u have an EU client (with EU game launcher), there is no patch available at this time.
|
The continuous launcher -> client loads -> immediately back to launcher loop happens because the launcher takes the patch information from whatever your home region is while the game client will dump you back to the launcher if the region it tries to log in to has a newer patch.
You can change the last region used in the registry in HKCU\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\S2\LastPortal-???? (whatever your home locale is), or you can load the game with your Internet disconnected so it can't read the patch information then change back to a region which has not yet received the patch yet.

Hi, so i deleted my regions.xml because global play is official and now i don't see anything to switch on differents servers.
And when i use the regions.xml i crash when i want to use an other server... I have to go to my regedit and write eu in. When i launch my launcher it say "Data is downloading for the next update" each time.

Trying to switch to NA while EU is down and getting "there is temporary outage of the battle.net service" with my account. Any random login@pass however gives bad login info whatever. Nothing helps, complete reinstall of new NA client, relocaizers, region.xml trick, nothing. Any ideas?
|
Currently not seeing the button at all. I've tried putting the regions.xml, I've tried logging in and back out, I've tried restarting, I've tried adding a line into the SC2 Variables folder, I've tried messing up my password, I've tried turning off "remember account". Nothing I do seems to get ti to show up. What the hell.
|
I haven't played SC2 for so long and decided to try it out again. I deleted the game and installed it (downloaded since lost CD) and I can't change regions? Apparently there's a button next to where you type your email to change region and I do remember when I use to play the game and now it's not there.
|
The magic button is so awesome! I also had to re-install my sc2 and for some strange reason I dl'ed US region game and when I noticed that my friend list was empty and no games played I was really frustrated and then I figured it out that I was in a wrong region, so when I found this easy solution that would help me get back to the EU I was really happy. thanks for it!

I'm having this problem now. I originally have a English US client. I changed the language to Korean, and yesterday I was playing on the Korean region. Today I started SC2, and switched the region to US. Then it started the back to launcher loop.
My ....S2\LastPortal-enUS and LastPortal-koKR are both "us". The game client itself seems to be 2.0.4. What can I do to get back on US and updated to 2.0.5?
|
ok so, do you need to DL the other clients still? Or wait until all regions are up to date with the latest patch.

I ended up just doing a complete reinstall. Tried a bunch of things before that, never got the launcher to point to US region and patch 2.0.5.

if u dont see this button to change region ,after game start just log in current region and then logout after it button to change regions pop up.

Atleast KR didnt work for me.

Downloading 14gb will take me at least 10 hours with my internet connection :/ how much needs to be downloaded in order to be able to play?

Alright, so I haven't played since last November, do I have to do anything special to get this? Or does downloading the new patch cover global play? I'm really excited about playing people from other regions :D

Doesn't work for me.
I restarted sc2 several times. I relogged many times. Waited on the logon screen many minutes, and still got no region change button:

SO what ive noticed is that, if you change your region you gota log out to pick another region, but at this time the "region" button is gone.. sometimes its there sometimes its gone.. So iam now stuck in my NA account, and if i log out and in i can sometime randomly connect to my NA account or my EU,KR account.. so its very buggy as far as i see it ?
but its REALLY NICE nevertheless onces its working properly.
EDIT!! IF you wanna switch region and the "region" button isnt there , just wait in the log on screen and it should appear after a little bit. thats what happen to me now anyway...

you can do it via regions.xml

i just made the regions.xml, nothing happens

I am getting wierd error - A few hours ago I changed my region (via region button on login screen) from eu to us, and now my game is breaking when i start it. My friend did the same, and has the same error.
I suggest if you are on EU, don't change your region to US, it crashes the game, at least until this issue is more investigated.
|
I had the same problem. That's what happens when the game is patched on another server and you try to region switch. There will be a patch incompatibility so it kicks you out at the login screen.
The way to fix it:
Disable your computer's wifi or unplug LAN so you DO NOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET. Launch SC2. It will prompt: ''Searching for network connection", with your only option being "cancel". Press "cancel". Then DO NOT choose PLAY OFFLINE. Just press OK. You will be at the login screen, and it won't kick you out. Do not login, instead region switch to where your patch is compatible.

Yeah, happened to 2 friends of mine at a few pros as well. I'm trying a reinstall. I'll update in this thread if it works.
