If there's any issue with the translation please let me know and I'll change it. A member of the Korean Democratic Party, Jeong Byung Hun, officially became the fifth president of Kespa today. This is the first time where a politician becomes the leader of Kespa. This position was previously held by the higher level executives of hanbit and SKT. Mr Jeong Byung Hun was active in the public communications committee of the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and has been very concerned with the IT and the gaming industry. Previously, when the ruling party was pushing for its forced shutdown rule for youths and was faced with strong opposition from the industry, Mr Jeong was also actively putting forth his voice of opposition. The eSports industry is also hoping that the politician would be able to bring about a greater influence for the industry, and also inject new life into it. Mr Jeong was inaugurated this afternoon at the National Assembly Building, and many representatives from the industry, including player Flash, attended the ceremony. This is an interview with him which one of the Korean media company did. You paid a visit to the association. What was your impression of it? I wasn't there specially to see what I could learn about it. I was just there to visit the staff which I would be leading in the future, and to encourage the people. What made you want to become the president of Kespa? Another suggestion was to become the president of the Gaming Industry Association, but I personally felt that if gaming was turned into a sport, it'd probably eliminate the prejudice that people have towards gaming, and I'm really looking forward to that. Also, as the founding nation of eSports, Korean eSports hasn't been able to receive support from the country, and moreover, the industry is very messy, and all these makes me very disappointed. Even though it's not an easy task, I will take on this responsibility of growing this industry and of changing the perceptions of the society in a positive way. It's widely rumoured nowadays that the eSports world is in danger. There is indeed some danger lying in the Starcraft 2 league. As compared to leagues in Starcraft 1, whether it be the number of players, or the number of viewers, the numbers are less, even to the extent where teams are disbanding one by one. But I understand also that on the other hand, the LOL leagues are very popular. What the association needs to do from now on will be to make some big changes and to activate the casual gamers, and from there, we'll be unshakeable when we face danger, and grow into a deep rooted tree. What's the first issue that you'll be looking to solve? The issue with Team 8 will have to be solved first. After that, we'll work hard to improve the society's perception of us, and integrating with similar organisations, through reforms, to expand influence amongst the fans. Are you talking about building new teams and the issue with the already disbanded Airforce Ace? The issue with Airforce Ace, we'll have to discuss with the defense department before coming to any conclusion. The association will also be working to solve other issues in the future. As for building new teams, I will strive to bring everyone good news in the near future. The association has always been very dependent on SKT. Will that continue? We are unable to reveal any details now. But we're looking forward to SKT continuing to lend their support as they did before. To receive continued support no matter the circumstances in the outside world, that is very important.

Many politicians have been flamed for gaming in their free time, it would be nice if that image could change a bit

But I don't know this guy, he's maybe passionated about ESPORTS and doesn't only look at numbers. From the interview, it doesn't seem to be the case.

A less overly controlling organization comprised of kespa and esf coming in? One can hope.. Oh man if it was only possible to have a proleague with 14-16 teams..
