Removed: Ohana
Added: Akilon Flats
![[image loading]](http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/images2/thumb/d/db/AkilonFlats.jpg/400px-AkilonFlats.jpg)
-Neutral Supply depot at the ramp -Creep color has been tweaked a little
Difference between GSL and KeSPA version: KeSPA version does not have a neutral supply depot at the ramp at the natural ramp for FFE/ramp wall-off etc. There is only one at the bottom of the ramp. Also, it seems like the watch tower doesn't self-destruct.
Source: KR server maps.
Changed:
Caldeum 3
-Neutral Assimilator HP has been changed from 250/250 to 450/450 -The rocks behind the natural has armor of 1, instead of 0 -The map has a new name, and all previous records on this map will be erased.
Neo Arkanoid
-Changed the structure around the Main -> Expansion area so its easier for Protoss users to protect their Colossus from Vikings
Neo Planet S
-Changed the gas locations so that Zerg players can check the number of gases being mined with the overlord.

Do we have images of it? I'm a very visual person =3

Very happy Ohana is gone, it has run its course.

Yus!
I was so tired of Ohana. It was cool at first, but got terribly boring real fast. Akilon Flats is looking good so far.

I guess they looked at the win rates? Does this change a LOT for the SPL in the current round? Like if a player practices Ohana a lot?

Sounds like some great changes.

glad that Ohana is removed but I expect a brand new map though, especially a 3-player one

The Caldeum changes were needed. The 0 armor rocks and easy to kill assimilator was just dumb. Glad to see Ohana gone. I guess the Planet S change will have both geysers on the same side?
|
Wonder if the Caldeum changes will make it Protoss favored map again. I hope not, I wanna see some Terrans being sent out for it.
|
Awe, too bad they removed Ohana. I liked the map a lot. Not a huge fan of the Neo Arkanoid map at all.
|
I feel like this is a pretty solid map, it has produced some fun games on the HotS ladder. As for Ohana... well it was a pretty good map but I sure as hell won't miss it.
I love Kespa's approach of changing and editing maps so often, there's no reason why we should the same maps for sooo long.

Brilliant. Good move KESPA

make it like the GSL version and have the two center towers destruct after 7 minutes.
otherwise it just makes for really dumb capture the flag games lol

This is no longer a league I can recommend to my family.

Parting goes to a Proleague team, Ohana removed. Coincidence?

Never really liked Akilon from my experiences in the beta, but I think that it is definitely worth trading for Ohana. That map had it's time.

Ohana is a good map but, honestly, it's nice to see things freshened up a bit. You get tired of seeing games on the same 2 maps for a full year.

Is there a statement to why Ohana has been removed? I want it removed. To find the reasoning behind the removal would be cool.

lol they must have realized how stupidly imba caldeum was for pvz early game from that JYP ace game. now they're burning all evidence of their mistakes too

Akilon looks like such a protoss favoured map. Two easily defendable chokes with forcefield on nat and third. narrowish map. ugh

Every Zerg 10 pools on Caldeum, often with great success. It's extremely hard to defend 3 entrances into your natural as a Protoss. I'm glad they're fixing it.

Didnt Life 10/11pool in 99% of his games during his dominance? This map worked for that style so why not? you want hatch first every game?
I mean, Im not saying Neo Caldeum didnt favor aggressive zerg a bit, but just "a bit". It's not terrible to see toss uses some more skills rather than safely expanding and building up deathball. And fyi ZvP is 4-3 on Neo Caldeum

A very underrated change would be changing the unit names all to english, even as a korean, it feels awkward when the commentators are going GUH SHIN GUH SHINN. When it would be so much more exciting if they were screaming COLOSSEUS COLOSSEUS,, and calling haebyungs marines again. Seriously...a portion that made the commentary legenady was the korean pronouciation of the english unit names, Just can picture the epicness in them marking out on a burrowed baneling hit

I hope they coordinate with GOM on which version of Akilon Flats they're using. The GSL version of the map has the watchtower disappearing after 7 minutes.
Not that it matters much anyway since HotS is coming around, but yea, I would really hope tournaments start standardizing maps.

Well in GSL players can still pick maps which makes new maps rarely picked. Players likes to pick overplayed maps too often.

Still it is the better looking map, and compared to most maps used today its design is rather unique.

That is a very funny line. We are going to erase all existence of the maps previous transgressions.

Akilon is actually a very good map, but its hard to play on. The fact that the watch towers are not in the direct path makes it much harder to simply go through the middle, you have to send units way in advance, which is something most players are not used to because of the current map pool.
I do hope that the GSL version will be used though, since it will be harder for the players to play on different versions of the same map...
|
Was filled with hope that all the Neo maps would have been removed and no, turns out not sigh.
|
I'm liking the addition of akilon flats. I really like it as a map and its good to see some hots maps in the pool.
|
awful map, but ohana wasn't any better. changing dogshit for horseshit I guess. their other maps seem adequate enough, so one bad apple really isn't the worst thing ever. I mean we saw Steppes in how many tournaments before it was expunged?

Good changes to the kespa maps, though I don't see the point of "buffing" overlord scouting on planet s...
I'm really not sure if gom/kespa are just smart and add a map that will probably be used in every hots tournament post release, or blizzard forces them to use a certain amount of their terrible maps, because tbh akilon is not a good map, especially when you look at community made maps.

After testing: Akilon flats is different from the GSL version.
There's only one neutral supply depot that's on the bottom of the ramp, not at the natural of the ramp (only to block cannon rushes). The watch towers don't self-destruct.

Aww, that's too bad.
One lesser talked about benefit of having the exact same maps between Proleague and GSL is that players will be able to practice the maps much easier.
It'll help on both sides.

Yea that would require Gom and Kespa to talk together and cooperate.... Pff AHAHAHAHA!
Jokes asside even if they were to start talking to each other after a decade of bitter rivaly the mappool would probably have pretty low priority.
