There were no foreigner's in code S, who is left in code A? Only the casters could be at the Gom house, but since they get a salary I doubt the house is necessary at all.

All of the worthwhile foreigners stayed in oGs house iirc

edit:
except wait did the foreigner world championship team stay there? Because white-ra stomping mc was one of my favorite moments in sc2.

I'd take a complete guess that they opened it to try and attract more foreigners to compete, since more foreigners equals more foreign viewers. Most of those using it have been significantly below GSL quality though, and those who did frequent GSL like Huk and Naniwa stayed in team houses.

is there a link with proof?

This doesn't seem like a big deal whatsoever, Is there any players of note in the GOM house anymore?

Not a huge surprise, considering that it hasn't been full for months. Apart from Khaldor, there's never more than three people max at the house. Most of the time, foreigners prefer going to team houses.

Fnatic was hosting a few foreigners in their own house.
Liquid had their own house.
SLoG got his own place afaik.
The only people recently living there were NaNiwa (is he still in Korea?), MaNa and funkay. the latter two only stayed for a couple of months and are now back in Poland.
The EG people probably live there from time to time after their partnership with SlayerS broke down, but I'm pretty sure they can partner up with any team they want.

probably makes sense, since foreigners staying there can't produce any good gsl results

Does this have anything to do with the end of the GOM-MLG exchange program?

Think whatever you want, its most likely wrong. Broodwar had like less than 10% of the events SC2 currently has running, and it stayed popular for 5-7 years like that. Things naturally end, and new things take their place. Having a single foreigner house shut down that is not even being used right now has nothing to do with SC2 taking a negative hit. Stop reading soo closely into things.

If foreigners want the benefit of training in Korea they need to train in a team house. The GOM house never really served it's intended purpose well and there's no reason GOM should continue to fund it. Sounds like they are just trying to reallocate resources. I'd see this as a good thing instead of bad.

I am pretty sure they are closing it because they no longer are giving out foreign seeds.

Lol why are the first few posts so pessimistic and melodramatic, you realize hardly anyone ever used the Gom house and it was universally considered pointless? You couldnt get quality practice there. It was just a stop gap measure if you were in korea briefly...

So what? It's still a bad news. It clearly shows that there are problems with SC2 right now.

This isn't necessarily what he means. No need to start a game vs game debate.

kinda sucks but it opens the doors for teams to explore more partnerships with the korean teams. i'm sure most korean teams have room for a few players.

This is clearly not related to the state of SC2. There are no foreigners in the GSL, it seems they have moved away from trying to promote that.

I never heard anything good about the practice environment in the Gom house on any show when it was brought up. It’s main purpose was to allow non-korean’s to compete in the GSL, which makes less and less sense now-a-days. Korean teams have better practice environments and no one staying at the GOM house has competed in GSL in forever. It makes sense to let the teams handle that part of the process.

As for people who are saying this is further signs of Doom and Gloom for SC2, they are kinda silly. Some things that made sense 2 years ago don’t make sense now. It is that simple. If no one is using the Gom House, why have it?

Why Gom were ever providing a place for people like Desrow and Last Shadow to stay I never understood. I mean no offense to them but they aren't exactly GSL level players, nor will they ever be, seemed like a huge waste of expenses on Gom's part. Not surprised they are getting rid of it.

Basically something that had a great intended purpose that just didn't pan out. GOM is basically trying to trim the budget down , sounds like a good thing to me other than the fact that nani needs a new place to stay now .

The GOM house outlived its purpose and it is for the better they stop spending money on it.
