Most of those using it have been significantly below GSL quality though, and those who did frequent GSL like Huk and Naniwa stayed in team houses. It's just not nearly as good as a teamhouse and thus players staying there will generally be below GSL standard. If you're good enough for GSL your team can usually negotiate a team house to train in for you. Thus, the GOM house is quite simply a money sink for GSL and is being cut. No drama needed. Sad that it didn't fill its purpose though ![]()

The SC2 scene was purposely oversaturated with leagues, teams and players. It was done so that as many people as possible would have a shot at doing things their way the best they could. The expectation was that there would be competition and the best would survive. This downsizing isn't indicative of a problem at all. I'm not sure how you think it's clearly a problem in this context. I guess you didn't know the context and weren't able to imagine it. I think three major leagues (out of IPL MLG OSL GSL DH) could completely shut down and SC2 would still be doing great. And aside from those, there are still so many supplementary events that are major but irregular or are just on the cusp of being major (NASL, TSL, ESL, HSC, Iron Squid, Blizzard's tournaments, TeSPA tournaments, Red Bull events, etc). Even if the supplementary events slim down there'd still be a good number of them. So just chill. edit: I don't know what makes a league major or not. I'm not gonna spend time worrying about whether I classified them correctly so I hope no one from those leagues takes offense. If I didn't say your league was major, I'm sorry, just chill bro.

It would make sense at this point that they would close it and use that money for better purposes.

I'm not even joking Yet more reason why Reddit is sort of worthless when it comes to these subjects and should be ignored. It is filled with people who wait for new like this and jump on it to say that SC2 is dead, or to try and get someone fired over the latest drama.

I believe Gomsnowbird used to live there as well?? He moved back to Germany, could be another reason. I would say the money can be better spent on Gom's part, no big deal. I'm sure Kaldor will be fine and GOM doesn't have to look after Naniwa.

Now with GSL not having any foreigner in it. It just seems like more of a waste to GOM

I think the foreign teams have to find a spot with partner teams to accomodate their players, shouldn't be too hard. The only problem is with teamless pros, but even then there might be a Korean team willing to take them in for a fee (was GOM house completely free? there was probably a small fee required as well, no?). Now, if you are teamless and unpopular with Koreans, then you might have a problem (*cough*Nani*cough*).

All im saying is if it's predecessor has had success amidst a stagnant tournament scene, then the simple fact that GOM is shutting down their foreigner house is extremely minor to the overall outcome of future events and popularity regarding SC2. The fact that you read my post and assumed I was comparing games in a way that may pit them against each other is ludicrous and extremely poor in understanding. Starcraft 2 is soo chalk full of events and tournaments that its currently impossible to even enter them all. That is definitely not a sign of a dwindling game.
