I propose the Starcraft Inquisition, a place where people of unquestionable morality and the most concerned and good behaved people of our community can get together every week to dispense righteous punishment to the pro players. Maybe, to keep it real, we could include priests, rabbis and ayatolas to advice us on the most righteous courses of action. We must keep the innocent minds of the audience free from bad influences like Stephano! Let's all remain children forever, isn't this, after all, a videogame? Are you joking or are you stupid ?

Obviously their contracts have a article like "dont hurt your team with stupid comments" but it was a "private" chat. So they don´t giving him money that he deserves. Is this a US thing because in the EU there is no way to get away with that on an employee contract. The problem is that in-game chat isn't private or off the record. Even if both parties are not streaming, all games and chat are recorded through the replay. The clause in the contract where it says "dont hurt your team with stupid comments" includes times when you are fully aware that you have the potential to be recorded. There is no getting around a clause like that because it is so beyond dumb to be recorded doing questionable things. There is a saying in the legal community, "its is only private if you didn't write it down." You would find similar contracts in NA and EU for written corrospondence of almost any kind, especially when the person is preforming the activity they were hired to preform(playing SC2). There no way for Stephano to play SC2 and not represent EG in a a professional capacity.

Sorry, I did the stupid joke because this subject has been argued to death and I don't think there's anything else to say or add to the discussion. Some of us have different ideas about what kind of jokes are acceptable and which are not, but it is what it is now. It just pissed me off to have Stephano away from tournaments this month, his joke is nowhere near Destiny's level of douchebaggery, it's just he said "rape" and some people don't like it.

people think doing this turns players into robots, but look at it from the provider's viewpoint. the goal is to become one of the best teams in the world and make lots of money off of it. is shutting down crude humor that big of a price for the sake of attaining the goal? do people watch starcraft and roar over trash talking or the intense plays and decision making in game? taunts and competitive speak are great. it adds character without downgrading the image of the sport, and they can all be accomplished without trolling as a molester. unfortunately, it's not EG, GSL, KeSPA or any of the organizations that are the buzz kills, but a large demographic of fans that feed money into eSports that control what is good and bad behavior. to tell you the truth, i don't mind it at all. i don't want my kids pretending to be molesters like stephano because it was funny.

The "it was just a joke folks" on the other hand fail to understand that he is a representing a company and whether EG management or even a significant majority of americans understands and appreciates the "joke" is irrelevant if it can still cause reputational damage due to sponsors being less interested in sponsoring teams or even sc2 as a whole if its flagship players are known for such juvenile and divisive humor Even professional NFL players can get suspended for eg racial slurs. A public figure in a company who behaves poorly in his private life can be fired if that private life somehow becomes publicly known. In other words, you and Stephano ought to both grow up

In other words, you and Stephano ought to both grow up I'm not specially talking about the company. I'm talking about the private nature of those words. I'm talking about people who can imagine Stephano as a pedophile after this (i guess ) bad joke...this is ridiculous. That was a PRIVATE joke taken out of his context ...

In some districts (different states in the US are divided up into different school districts, each district having their own curriculum, standards, and rules for both teachers and students) teachers can't be seen engaging in behavior that would hurt the schools image. This could mean public drinking, going to clubs, or having sex with students. This is easily enforced because when you want a job, you will most likely sign a contract. This contract, depending on the State, can be enforced easily or heavily. Since EG can easily be seen as a brand rather than an e-sports team, sponsorships mean everything to them. Another important thing to note is that EG is located in New Mexico, which I believe is a right to work state meaning that employers could fire you at will with little to no notice. But EG seems like a stand up employer, they pay their employees decent salaries and seem overly fair when it comes to situations such as this. I'm sure EG has a very simple publicity contract stating that players are not to engage in behavior that might hurt EGs image, such behaviors include racial remarks or sentiments, acts of violence, etc etc. This is pretty standard protocol for a lot of jobs that require public appearances and images. If you hurt your employers image because of your antics, they will punish/fine you. You're being pad to represent and promote EG, not to be awesome at starcraft which is just a side benefit. Many professions, such as lawyers, journalists, engineers, nurses, and doctors abide by a rule of ethical guidelines and indeed some of these professionals have their own committees that are known to expel people from practicing their profession. Think of disbarring lawyers from practicing law. Or terminating medical licenses for malfeasance and neglect. Many countries have committees such as these for different professions. I feel like Stephano's closer to be in a rock star work position than to be a teacher, but I might be biased !

Second, pro athletes are constantly under watch from fans. Stephano can go out to dinner and most likely not get bothered. Top athletes are hounded constantly by fans. Oh and then they have ESPN all over them and TMZ. Stephano could have all the privacy in the world if he wanted. LeBron James can't.
