Spring 2013? Really? They had a whole year to produce this and they can't keep to a deadline. Probably because the guy making it is using that 40-something thousand dollars to fly around the world and enjoy himself, pushing off this naive community with some vague promises before he finally released an hour long video that could have been done by someone in the community with a camcorder and 5000 dollars for flights and accommodation.
This shows and integral problem with the community at heart: that most of them are late teen/20 somethings with a bit of disposable income and no idea what they're doing. So they willingly put their money towards something with no idea of whether its going to come through the other end or not.
"Oh no, they need more time to make a REALLY good product"
"Oh they don't have to be accountable to us! Nick and Dan are good to us! They should take their time"
Remember that Star Nation film with Naniwa and White-Ra? Barely huh? I bet you by the time it comes out, it'll be a non factor. Because all that footage will be almost useless and the community wants something fresh. Case in point: The uber-disappointment of Liquid Rising, that hit about 400 delays and was unanimously considered to be inadequate. A couple months later, Team Liquid release two 20 minute videos of their time at the IPTL, which cost absolutely nothing, and the videos are loved by the community for being genuine, timely and informative.
Wow. That was hard.
It's okay if you're donating money towards Liquid Rising or Good Game I suppose, think of it as a charity act towards a team you love. But these grand ventures really have to stop before some poor saps get scammed any further. You seem like you need a hug.
Lol, my bad :D
I forgot you can't be critical of anything ever without being mad or a troll.

TL is actively sabotaging every other documentary so Liquid Rising will be the best SC film by the virtue of actually having been made.

Seems like that would be the only chance for Liquid Rising to stay on top, because the second another documentary comes out, its done for.

People who have never made or been involved within the making of a serious movie of any kind just need to be quiet It takes a lot of time, especially a documentary with few people working on it. Looking at how many different places and locations he had he probably spent months just shooting the damn thing. Now he has to spend time cutting it aswell which is where i guess the delay is located since you just keep second guessing yourself and re-cut the re-cut time and time again. Not to mention if he has to read up on a little film theory to make it that much better, well shit that´s gonna take some time aswell.

I didn't tell them to produce it in a year.
At the start of the project, they announced that it would be done in October/November 2012.
They set that date, not me.
So when they don't come good on their own deadline, deciding instead to have a trip to Las Vegas and do a bit more filming because that'll really give em some "sick nerd chills", I'm not allowed to be critical?
Why would they post some arbitrary deadline and then not come good on it? Because they know the community will instantly white-knight anything, being immediate apologists for any stuff ups, given that it'll make e-sports totally look 'legitimate'.
You literally just went to apologize for them in your post. I wonder why.

Just watch happens if Blizzard delays HOTS by just one month.
The amount of utter bile in the proceeding shitstorm will make your head spin.
How is this any different?

Thing is, do i buy a pack of cigarettes or few beers with my 5 bucks or do i spend it on a project that might EASILY be worth my few bucks i donated? I'd say money well spent already. Despite seeing the whole documentary or the outcome of it.
When you 'invest', sometimes it delivers, sometimes it doesn't. With little money i'm playing here, i'm not gonna be sad if this turns out to be something i wasn't hoping for.

They released a trailer for it. The website says it will be out in the spring

Jesus christ, where do you pull this faith from?
....It's not an investment. This isn't the stock market. You're not getting a return.
You paid for a product. Like literally, that's what the money was for. So you can officially say money well spent when you get literally ANYTHING of value to show for it. And you haven't gotten it yet.
The only reason you're okay with it is because STARCRAFT 2 COMMUNITY ROCKS!!!!1.
If it was a homeless dude standing outside your local WalMart collecting money in a bucket, promising to ship you a DVD of a cool documentary about squirrel fights or dumpster diving, you'd probably be pissed that you haven't gotten it a year later.
This stems into a way larger issue of how the e-sports scene has been constructed on the principles of charity towards companies and not actually paying for value or for services, thus making it unsustainable, but I doubt it'll be worth discussing with the blind faith you have in where you put your money.

Expecting documentary deadlines, based on prediction of future events to be 100% met is silly.

How i'm not getting anything in return? If i get to see the outcome of this project, THAT is the return i'm getting. No, this isn't stock market and no, i won't get back my money (litereally) from this, but instead i will get something to watch and most likely, easily, worth the money i spent. It's also way easier for me to say this because I've only spent 5 fucking bucks to this. Which isn't much, at least for me.
Different story if you donated more.

I like how effortlessly you manage to refute a reasonably well-supported argument that has obviously had some effort put into its making and brings up some good points, simply with your stunningly verbose display of logical and rational brilliance "lol u need a hug bro u mad bro". You have convinced myself and everyone else in this thread that you are correct and Big Kahuna does not, in fact, know what he is speaking about. You sir, are truly a gentleman and a scholar...
