Mp3 still needs to happen, sorry guys! No ETA but it slipped our minds again and we'll work on uploading it shortly
OVERVIEW Every other Wednesday, D-eSports brings you the inter-team HotS discussion show “Heart of the Beta.” Each show, we bring together professional players to talk about the state of beta.
This week it's all about Protoss with FXO.BabyKnight and Wilko. BabyKnight certainly needs no introduction but Wilko is an upcoming player at the Ministry of Win (see below for a full bio). We'll go over the last two patches and talk about the some of the changes, big and small, that Protoss has experienced. We'll also touch on Terran/Zerg changes and get a sense of how the PvZ/PvT matchups have shifted (if at all).
THIS WEEK'S LINEUP
Host: Drool (@drooLsc) Simon 'drooL' Koschel is known as one of the few Germans to consistently provide english coverage of international events, most notably Black Dragon League 2011, Dreamhack Summer 2011 as well as collaboration with TakeTV and others at CeBIT and gamescom 2011. Most recently drooL was back on stage for the WCG Samsung European Encounter at gamescom 2012.
Guest: FXO.BabyKnight (@FXOBabyKnight) BabyKnight is no stranger to the community eye. He's been #1 on the EU GM ladder, won WCS Denmark and took 5th/6th place at the WCS European Finals.
Guest: Wilko (@WilkoSC2) While Wilko might not have the name recognition of BabyKnight, he's an incredibly promising Protoss player currently training at the Ministry of Win. Wilko had a short introduction for people who might be unfamiliar with him:
I'm Christoph 'Wilko' Wilkowiecki and i'm a former Command & Conquer player who played Wings of Liberty on grandmaster level. I transitioned completely to HotS and i recently started playing fulltime. I'm living in the Ministry of Win gaming house togehter with Targa, LiveZerg, Titan, Desrow, Morrow, Sage and Destiny. I stream every day and i have currently the most games in HotS in this season. I play mainly solid macro style, but i try to implement the new units into my strategies. I'm currently Top 10 Grandmaster in HotS and some of my games got casted by for example huskystarcraft. I'm training very hard and i hope i can improve fast enough to make an appearance in the pro-scene with Heart of the Swarm

While we won't be able to get Morrow for our first show, we're in contact with him and we'll definitely try to get him into the conversation in the next few weeks.

Nice initiative, I'll try to tune in.
Will an mp3 be available?

Will an mp3 be available? We actually thought about (and done a few) doing mp3 format for some of our other shows, there were some people who wanted it. Is there actually a large number of people who want this though, we'll give people what they want if that's the case However to answer the question, no. There is of course our YouTube channel where EVERYTHING we do is at.

As Crainey said, right now we don't have plans for an mp3 version but if that's the only way you'd listen, we can look into an mp3 version. For us, it requires some additional steps with processing and hosting so we'd like to know there'd be a real demand before we go into it.

Whitera was an excellent idea but just checked with him and he's apparently leaving for Moscow today. We'll follow up with him for another show though, he would be a fantastic person to have on.
|
awesome show idea, but when the beta is over you are gonna need a name change TT lol

please add a "date" tag to your schedule. On a side note, is CET +1 or +2 gmt right now?

Thank you Doko, an excellent suggestion. Let me know if that works for you. And according to the random website I just checked, CET is +2 GMT right now.
Also, we're talking with a potential protoss guest, I'll update you guys if we can square everything away.
If you have any other suggestions or questions, put them here and we'll do our best to get to them.

I'm looking forward to being a part of this.

Looks like a very cool series. Great attention for the beta.
I loved doing "Co-pro casts" with players back in the WoL beta. It was my favorite part of the beta, and this might just be my favorite part for HotS!

Anyone who didn't catch the show should really check out the vod. These guys have some really good insight.

Yeah, I was actually surprised how quickly I found myself being sucked into the conversation. There's something really enjoyable about listening and learning from 3 really intelligent, thoughtful players who are wrapping their heads around a new game.
And on another note, I'm really glad you enjoyed our first show. :3 Let us know what we can do better and we'll definitely try to improve for our next show.
One thing we're definitely going to try to ramp up is community involvement. This first show was directed completely by us, but in the future, we'd like to get the community more involved in shaping the direction with questions they want answers to.
ALSO We will have an mp3 version as well so expect that soon along with the VOD. We're going to try to timestamp the VOD as well but we'll probably do that after it's initially released.

Was a really good first show that went a lot better than we could have hoped. Very nice discussion between three very intelligent players who all have something to say, excellent. I will be getting the VOD up within 24hrs so expect to see it soon, we hope you all come back for the next episode in around 2 weeks time, you'll hear more soon!
Also, I will be trying to put out an mp3 format for those that requested it, hang tight!
EDIT: Forgot to mention, DIMAGA has shown interest in coming on again so hopefully we can organise that for you Other players we have contacted who may be interested include Axslav and Morrow, but nothing is certain so we'll keep you updated! If you have players you'd like to see on the show you could drop a line on this thread and let us know.

Gutted I missed the live show! Will defos have to go and watch the vods, heard it was awesome :D

I would recommend doing either a skype call in for questions or taking questions from the chat. Its a great way add a mini segment to the show as well as interacting with the audience.

To be honest, we need a good few more viewers before we are able to do this. We used to do our interview series live for a while to take questions but we took it to YouTube because there weren't enough viewers to get good questions. We have peak 70 viewers with average of around 55-60, we'd be more comfortable taking questions live with closer to 200 viewers. That all being said, obviously we'd love to do this

We will make it possible for the community to ask questions next time, for sure. Thanks for the input.

The VOD is up on YouTube now (HERE) complete with time-stamps to each question, an mp3 version of the show is going up soon also. I didn't make this TL post so I can't edit it but it will be edited soon with the VOD. and MP3 etc. Thanks to those who tuned in, it was a very good show and we look forward to improving it and coming back with another

We started telling him to mute his mic, but his mute-micro wasn't perfect. I, on the other hand, did an excellent job muting my constant coughing, hahaha. Thanks for the feedback!

Sorry about the slow update. VOD should be updated on the OP now. Timestamps are in the spoiler and the youtube page.
Currently, HotB will be a bi-weekly show although we still plan to have a representative of each race for every show. Mp3 version is still on the way, having some trouble with soundcloud but I'll let you know as soon as we have it ready. Sorry about the delay!
And again, any feedback you guys have for us, let us know. I don't think we'll do open phones right now because that creates too many problems with trolls and redundant questions. If we can get a message center where people can leave a question and we can chose the best ones that might work. But my concern for the show is that if we just do an open number, we'll end up wasting a lot of people's time.
Chat, of course, is always a good option and something we'll look to do next episode. I wanted to try and fit it in this episode but there was already too much going on.
|
Phew. It's been a long 2 weeks since our last episode. Luckily there's a ton to talk about. Since the majority of the changes were for Protoss, we brought on two Protoss players for this episode.
When possible, we want to span both EU and NA, as well as have all 3 races represented, but sometimes it doesn't work out. Still, I don't think you'll be disapointed tomorrow :D BabyKnight and Wilko are two very smart Protoss and with the majority of the changes being Protoss-centric, it seemed appropriate to double-up on one race.
Be sure to tune in and ask questions! We can't guarantee that we'll get to all of them but we'd love to interacting more with the community during the show!
|
/sigh I'm terrible with timezones. Everyone should re-check the time; I had it set an hour behind.
|
Northern Ireland101 Posts
Episode two with BabyKnight and Wilko finished. VOD will be up momentarily. Thanks to those that tuned in live. Next show should be in 2 weeks. Guests will be announced asap.
|
Thanks for tuning in. We will announce the next episode and guests earlier, so we can take community questions from this thread.
|
Hahah, as Drool said we're trying to announce our guests earlier but it's surprisingly difficult to find pros who have played HotS and are up for talking about it. Most of the players we've contacted are focusing on WoL-only/mainly right now.
Currently we've got Rotterdam but because of a schedule conflict, we've moved this week's episode to Friday, same time. That should be reflected in the OP though. Will get a bio of Rotti up shortly but everyone knows him :D
Also talking with Morrow to see if he has time/interest because he'd be an incredible voice to have in the discussion. Currently still searching for a zerg player.
Also, we're considering trying to go weekly and we'd love your thoughts. While it's difficult to get guests right now, if we do it weekly and this is a more consistent commitment, then it might be easier. Also, we're thinking it's hard to build a viewership/following if we're only twice a month. On the other hand, we want our show to remain about the game and we don't want to have weeks where nothing has happened.
So yeah, we'd love your thoughts and reactions: does it feel fine if it's just twice a month? Would you want to see it more? If we had it more often, what are things that you would want us to avoid/talk about? Should we talk about the latest drama or avoid it?
