Obviously Jaedong is wildly more popular, and this is going to make this season the greatest ever, but I feel bad for Roro.
Bison deserves his spot. He has been the best player in Proleague, is OSL (1-0 over MKP), and was the second best placing KeSPA player during WCS Korea.
The seeds have nothing to do with popularity, afaik KeSPA used their proleague rankings (not exactly sure how they work)
The two chosen did have amazing results as their team's aces. So that might have played a bit in the decision.

I just realized that GSTL also starts next week?
What.

Was expecting Roro to be one of the Code S seeds based on his recent performance. Would like to know if there was any method or reasoning behind their seed selections. Also, not a single Kespa Terran seed.

Not enough time to prepare for the matches.

RorO was more deserving, sigh. Still, it's fucking Jaedong.
Quite surprised Flash didn't get a Code A seed. Oh, Proleague rankings.
|
edit: ok so it was based on proleague points...
Still i think Roro is way better than JD in SC2

A reddit user (rbcd) posted this:
Proleague Ranking
Code S: Rain - 13-6, 7 ace match wins = 495 JaeDong 10-9, 6 ace match wins = 390
Code A: Trap =11-4, 3 ace match wins = 375 RoRo = 9-6, 3 ace match wins = 315 Effort = 9-8, 3 ace match wins = 315 Shy 9-2 = 270
Barely Missed the cut: Hero 8-5, 2 ace match wins = 270 Stork 8-3, 1 ace match win = 255 Soulkey 7-7, 1 ace match win = 225 Stats 6-2, 2 ace match wins = 210

As somebody who doesn't follow GSL, do you still need some kind of account to watch live (through GomTV)? Or are there livestreams?
Anyways, fuckin' Jaedong! Hope he does well. Kill them with your death stare!

I will say that constantly using proleague rankings is a bit silly. I'm worrying that the same players will get seeded into GSL, MLG, WCS for months just because of slightly better proleague performance. I think KeSPA could have done something like "performance in last round" instead of overall performance. Or they could have rewarded Roro and Reality for their WCS performance more. (Reality is nowhere to be found in Code A for instance)
I recall reading an analysis for how long it would take to have all the good KeSPA players in the GSL and even if all the KeSPA players were superior to their GSL counter parts it would take way too long. By adding seeds they alleviate the problem so I'm willing to bet they'll seed more players next season also. And of course some KeSPA players will come up through Code A qualifiers.

You create an account on GOMTV.net and then watch via GOM Player

thanks for the info! that seems like a fair system, but its a shame that no terrans could be included.

I know JeaDong is more popular but still RoRo deserved the seed more. Also suprised not to see Soulkey,Hero[join] and Flash but get Trap and Shy. I know they are good in proleague but WCS matters more since it is a bigger tournament and Flash should be there since he is Flash.

Random point: Gom should have given 7 seeds Now poor KT Rolster ends up without a seed while the other 6 teams get one hahaha

maybe GOM is trying to move away from the preparation-type schedule into a more adaptable one? could make sense with how they're hosting Ro8 to Finals at IPL5.

So cool to see Rain, he's doing so good along with Roro.
|
Oh man Jaedong in Code S so unbelieveable sick good !
|
WTF? Roro in Code A? This is wrong.
Otherwise I'm pumped!
|
I guess that means there won't be international tournament results seeds this season? Poor Alicia.
