Really? I wasn't aware of this. Who does the fighting game community discriminate against based on race? Edit: I almost completely missed the fact that you also implied the SC2 and LoL communities are racist. I would also like to know who I, as part of at least one of those communities, am racist against?
On topic ->
I support Destiny, because his problem is that he tries to live a normal life and be a normal, everyday person, even though he's a public figure. In a community closely connected to the internet. He doesn't want to put on a PR-mask and run a media-friendly theater, and that's why some people decide he's objectively evil and and should be "taught a lesson" by having constant attempts at ruining his livelihood targeted at him. He's a public figure, so people think they have the right and obligation to interfere with his private life and personality. Because somehow a lot of people, if not most, have got it in their heads that other people's personal affairs somehow concern them.
I'm not saying the conversation (that we've unfortunately all read by now) was just fine and dandy, but that's what people do. They talk about other people all the time, usually behind their backs. This is a matter that should've been handled between the parties involved, and I'm pretty damn sure everyone who went out of their way to involve themselves and other unrelated parties to it by contacting sponsors and other similar stupid shit are completely aware of it. Just because a private/personal matter is made or otherwise becomes public doesn't mean it's anyone else's business. People are way too quick to judge others completely based on minimal information about them. If it doesn't concern you, it's none of your business, you don't even know any of the parties involved and it's a private matter anyway, just stay out of it. Talk about it and think about it all you want, but don't get involved. It's stupid and unnecessary, even if it is the norm in our culture.
Edit: Before you condemn people like Steven for mistakes they make or stupid shit they're part of, ask yourself if you've ever made a mistake or been part of stupid shit yourself. If you're like me, you'll eventually come to the conclusion that that's a part of what it is to be human. So get over it and get on with your life.

silly sponsor pressure? You mean.. those people that pay the bills?
I saw your "what's my favorite thing about america" on the TL clip. Basically there are more important things than money. Friends is one of them. I was a fan of ROOT because I thought money was less important to them than standing up for their dream and what they believe in. It would not be hard for ROOT to stand behind Steven in this case. This is not a big deal.
The pressure the sponsors felt was minor (messages on boards are not directly translated into money) and the pressure they put on ROOT was silly. Yes silly sponsor pressure.
If you think next time we get a sponsor they wont get spammed with emails about this and past incidents, then perhaps. But this was a really hard decision for us all, and I assure you it hurts me more than you having had to do this. We stood and we stand behind our players and friends a lot, but when having Steven on the team becomes a liability and potentially an obstacle for everyone else on the team to continue to move forward, a hard decision has to be made. This was a problem, and as much as we sat and thought about ways to go arround it, this was what we think to be the better, and perhaps only realistic solution. We want to continue to grow, we want to have a large budget and stay in eSports, and we need, good old silly sponsors, as I stated, this was not a decision made by our current sponsors, they were both very understanding of the situation, it was made by ROOT's managament, myself included, for what I believe is the greater good of the team and all of the people who work hard to help it succeed.
Its hard to comprehend how hard it must have been to come to your decision. I hope for the best for Root, and it's players.

Destiny passed around nude pictures of his friend, so the girl posted nude pictures of him as revenge.
what the hell? I'm even more confused now
destiny got a girl to send him noods he then shares noods and shit talks her with his friends.
girl find out
returns favor
Except what she did is illegal if I'm not mistaken.
and what he did wasnt? isnt it illegal to have naked pics of a minor and then distribute it to others?
She isn't underage, and what she did was illegal and he should seriously consider a lawsuit at the very least, along with pursuing criminal charges. This girl did not have a right to do what she did, no matter her reasons.
I am very disappointed that Destiny was fired from root over this, and also disappointed that there are so many people in this "community" that are glad about another human being losing their job.
lol I don't think he wants to pursue a lawsuit, I doubt the charges to her would be significant particularly because of what he did. Also it would pretty much be an end to his actual relationship (if it isn't irrevocably destroyed now, or if his actual significant other hasn't found out).
On the other hand if he could prove she was spying on his computer, then I think legal charges would make sense.
I still can't believe you think what Destiny did was okay. Do that at any workplace and you would get fired.
He wasn't at a workplace. No, I do not think what he did was ok, but that isn't the point. What makes me rage is that there are people in this "community" that think they are called from on high to right these injustices by fucking with a person's job. It is my opinion that these people have probably not reached the age in their lives where they need to provide for themselves, and therefore aren't capable of understanding the seriousness of it.
Put simply, if you believe that him being fired from root is anywhere close to proportionate punishment for what he did, you are wrong.
I'm not sure why so many people are saying poor destiny. We all know he didn't really need Root himself as he has his own rabid fanbase, so him leaving root doesn't really affect him at all. Destiny thrives on controversy and that is part of his popularity. If anything, this just enhances his popularity in the eyes of some people and he probably gained more fans from this incident.

Was to two people***, not an entire chat room of people, two people that I consider pretty close friends. I never feigned ignorance, just didn't want to get into it right before an MLG. I can't imagine how you can think that people will never, ever, ever talk about anything personal or private amongst their friends. Maybe I'm just stupid, but I can't see myself caring at all if you shared pictures between your close friends, especially given the fact that I'd never see any of them in real life. Glad you think you have a right to every single private conversation I ever have, though. Posting pictures of my dick to 37k people + cutting me off from access to my e-mail/twitter is probably reasonable payback for me discussing something personal with two friends. Thanks for the new work location, I wonder what your boss will think of this. Or your dean, for that matter. I wonder if it'd affect your scholarship or financial aid?
Granted this girl did something vindictive and stupid but I wouldn't be sharing nude pictures of any girl if she sent them to me and certainly not if she was 15, and that threat at the end there is just nasty.
wat.
Did I read the OP wrong? Swear Destiny says she's 15 in the chat log.

Yup, he's god a kid, no job, and no education while talking about fucking 15 year girls, sexually harassing Mia Rose, giving underage kids alcohol, saying racial slurs daily, and sending pics of his tiny dick. He is just fantastic for the SC2 scene!
He's the hero no one deserves, and not the one anyone needs at all. So we'll create shitstorms around him, because he can take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a loudmouth guardian of the right to say whatever you want regardless of the consequences. A BM Knight.
Honestly this community is getting me sick and tired with it's "good guy attitude" ...everybody who gets anything wrong in any way gets his ass handed to by disgusting little nerds seeing the need to contact sponsors or anything alike...i don't know how i draw this connection but this "being nice thing" on the internet day9 started is starting to seriously depress me when i see the results
The real "moral of the story" is everyone is a fucking cry baby. We live in an age where if you're not offended by something at least twice a day you're doing something wrong. Why is it every time something negative happens a group of idiots in the gaming community have to get the sponsors involved?
To be frank, I think Destiny is a pompous asshole. I would probably think about beating him up every day if I knew him personally. However, this was a private matter between three friends. A motherfucker can't have a private life and personal conversations? That's the real "crime" here.
What is this about lack of respect for women? You idiots do realize that Bluetea is the one that took the nude pictures of herself and sent them out, right? Destiny didn't hack them, he didn't steal them. They were technically his property. He didn't even distribute them to a community, either. He sent them to a couple friends.
Geoff InControl robinson, fuck you. She had a reason to spy on TT1? To make an analogy, people in America commit crimes. Does that mean the government has reason to invade our privacy and sift through all of our personal conversations?
One thing remains constant in this entire ordeal. Destiny is a dipshit for not changing his passwords. That's a fact. The worst part though is that the community itself is the reason E-sports is never going to be able to grow to the extent everyone wishes it to. The fighting game community has good reason to want nothing to do with these organizations. It's the generation of complaint and a mother fucker can't even take a shit in a field without someone E-mailing sponsors about it.
lol, destiny making life difficult for his team managers again. At some point his personality becomes a detriment to his overall success and it's time to do some self-reflecting. I doubt he will get many team offers after leaving his last two due to controversies.

It's not just you that "feels" like she overreacted, she overreacted on a level that's barely even concievable by a sane, non-sociopathic person. Someone was talking about her behind her back, so she goes out of her way to destroy that person's livelihood. She's insane.
And now he's going to her boss / college to ruin her life. I guess he's insane too.
I'm sure if you had nude pics of yourself posted and you found out you would be okay with it.
I would be mad, but that's not an apology? It's like breaking someone's legs because he has stolen your mobile phone. Destiny was not a whitekight here but the girl's reaction is out of control. And the community's reaction is out of control, too. :/
I feel really sad that in our world, a person can be called 'nice' while having conversations like that log. I mean, sure it's a private conversation between friends and all, but holy fucking Christ, like every single line in that thing makes me want to kick puppies :S

Completely agreed. I don't think Bluetea had any right to do what she did - when you post nude pictures of yourself, you are already asking for it, and they weren't even leaked to the public. She exposed Destiny's private life which should be his and his alone and put it on display for everyone - and he gets hurt for it. She basically destroyed any hope he might have left of being on a respectable team purely out of spite. If I saw her, I would slap her. I have been talked about and made fun of and embarrassed countless times by many people and I never once thought of trying to sabotage someone's career because of it. SHAME ON HER.

If you read the chat log, he starts another conversation about how a 15 yr old sent him a pic trying to hook up but he said no because she was 15.
I feel really bad for Destiny. He did nothing wrong here. Guys just talk like that with friends. I more interested who leaked this chatlog to the girl. I guess it has to be Fayth (who is this even lol) or the random protoss player. Also isnt this some kind of serious crime ? Hacking someones twitter to post a dick to the whole world without permission ?

Leak everyone's private conversations and you've destroyed pretty much anything that has a lot of people involved with it. Not as much about destiny in this instance....

How do you interpret this? In the context of nude-picture-gate.
I haven't posted in a thread like this before, and I don't like or care about Destiny, but this is just terrible and would be laughable if I wouldn't care about Starcraft so much. What comes next? A pro cheats on his girlfriend and get's kicked from his team? A pro forgets to call his mom on Mothers Day and gets disqualified from all tournaments? What a shitty community.

Hey we have to set an example for esports, mothers should be appreciated for what they've done and forgetting mother's day should never be tolerated.
