Sponsors dont not wish to be associated with such individuals for obvious reasons, calling them out on it and putting a spotlight is the only right thing to do. The community is not here to cover up for your inability like a professional Yeah right, let us all turn professional players into colourless figures that are well mannered and type GG every time. They shouldnt talk about private stuff, only should talk about the game. I guess NOBODY is happy with that. People want drama and want to know more about the players than just about their results. I like people with personality much more than shadeless people who appear as robots. I like people as stephano (even though he is a arrogant dick in laddergames sometimes), MC, marineking, destiny, and idra. You guys dont get that consequences this kind of stuff has. If people are pitchforking the sponsors because of a misbehavior of a player, players will stop showing any personality at all. They will appear as robots because they are afraid of punishment. I like emotions in sports and i like emotions in esports. I like it when idra doesnt GG if he doesnt feel like it. Some people hate or love him for doing that. And people also want the players to talk their mind and not just meaningless stuff that doesnt offend anyone. If you keep msging the sponsors, you will take away a big part of what makes esports interessting.

Then, the girl finds out, blabla and SHE shares Destiny's private parts to basically EVERYONE. Excuse me for the caps, but people don't seem to understand - what destiny did was rude, but it was in private. Just think about what would happen if every single private conversation you had would be out in the open, I bet some people would go apeshit berserk on some stuff you said, or stuff I said for that matter. As for sharing nude pictures - it is not my cup-of-tea, but in some groups of friends these things are considered normal, and it is a 'gentleman's agreement' that these pictures are only for watching, not for sharing. Further, I don't know if I'd be more pissed off to have secrets of me, or nude pics of me shared to friends, but I think the former... However, only because the girl leaked the chat + private pictures to everybody, he's getting fired and getting financial loss from it. Besides, the girl released private information about where he lives, potentially endangering his son and roommate, which is totally not cool. What Destiny did was not cool, but private. What the BlueTea did was ILLEGAL. Just turn it the other way around for a second... a girl shares a nude pic of Destiny in private with her friends, and Destiny shares (via a high-profile twitter account) nude pics of the girls private parts with the rest of the word. An absolute shitstorm would ensue, en nobody would blame the girl here. Destiny could absolutely file a lawsuit here and claim for financial loss- I don't think he will (or should), and the girl should be very, very thankful for that. You sir deserve a medal for this post. Exactly what you said. +1. You all should read this post and get off your Nimbuses trying to be a witch. PS. I love you Steven.

I wouldn't personally want to be associated with someone who shares private pictures with his friends. Is it my business though? No, it isn't. We basically have the power to destroy anyone professionally who is dependant on sponsorship, if we rally in large enough numbers, at least in this business. There's no question about that. I would never believe that I had the right to do it though. To believe the opposite, well, that kind of self-righteousness sickens me. Support those who you want to support, and let others be, and the business side will take care of it self. If I know that player X is sponsored by brand y and player x does z controversial thing, then my telling brand y that I'm uncomfortable with them supporting player x because player x has done z is not me ruining player x's career. It is me telling brand y what is currently affecting my perception of their brand. It is not me being self-righteous either. it's me providing market information without prompt. It is the moral equivalent of e-mailing sponsors to say that their decision to sponsor player a who is a nice guy that does b thing gives you warm fuzzies when you think about their brand. The reason that those complaints often result in consequences in e-sports is that they are often based on things that brands quite strongly do not want to be associated with - racism and the like. Full disclosure: I have not at present e-mailed any sponsors of any players or teams for negative or positive reasons. I may do so in the future if I feel the need. Also, once something becomes public, you are free to judge it any way you want - just like Tiger Wood's adultery.

After the dick-pic leaked, why did he link it on his Twitter? Did he want to show some sort of bravado and show his amusement, or what exactly happened?

This guy is just honest about who he is, he's not hiding it, and good for him it brought his stream to a huge success, and it is a great thing, well was, that SC2 community didnt censor various personalities, this isnt television ffs, yeah, we're trying to make it look like an actual sport, and it is, but it has nothing to do with actual sports, I mean, seing that guy getting demolished for bullshit over and over again, is just sad really, it's like hiding a part of who we are, I know it sounds like big words or corny, whatever, but it is true, a huge part of SC2 players recognize themselves waaaay more in Destiny than lets say Day9 for example, or even Artosis, denying that, and beating him in public for private conversations and some bullshit he did is just childish and dangerous, we're gonna end up with people being fake so they can join good teams and not follow his path. Thats the last thing I would have expected from an esport community, and as for ROOT, they lost my respect, instantly, yeah yeah, sponsors, like Destiny didnt bring eyes on your mid gm roster? The racists insults, Ok, some idiots cannot understand that he isnt even remotely racist but just trolling, ok, fine, but this? And seriously, that girl reaction, holyshit what a retard, ruining a guy like that, when she clearly knew the kind of personality when she approached him, and faced the consequences of hanging / sending nude pictures to a highly trollish streamer with a huge number of followers and fans, yeah, I guess he's such an gigantic bastard etc... I really think this is, in general, a bad turn in the birth of esport, if communities start trying to get rid of controversial personalities or even TRACK DOWN people for controversies just like fucking paparazzis, there just wont be any identity, might as well play fucking table tennis.

You dont have to like him but stop taking away the fun for other people that are enjoying destiny. You are not just punishing destiny you also punish people who like him.

There is too much about the story that we don't know, and based on the facts, it is the girl who went crazy, not Destiny. I'm not sure if everyone who is mad is just stuck inside living a very solitary life or what, but friends sharing nude pics of their significant other is a fairly common practice. If anything she should feel empowered by the fact that her body is well enough to be shared amongst friends. The fact that she hacked him back instead of taking any of the legal steps necessary proves how rediculous this is. Yes it is not nice to talk about someones face in a mean light, but these are nude pics, who cares what he says about your face in a picture where your whole body is exposed??? Anyways, I hope she gets in some serious shit for ruining this guy's career. Alot of you are acting a little too self righteous for reality, pro gamers are not Obamas, and this girl has some serious issues for even sending him a nude in the first place. wtf...? so it's okay for you that her nude pics got shared with his friends, he called her face ugly as hell and discussed if he should fuck her or not? She went crazy, but I can understand what she did.

Now i was bored and finally clicked on this thread. DRAMA! The guy did something bad, sponsors got notified and he got kicked. Is there really so much need to discuss it? I mean what he did was quite... indecent and the reaction from the team/sponsors is completely justified.

Players who don't treat other people horribly, or do stupid things where they can become public. Do you know why? Because sponsors are fine with being associated with people who are good at a game and basically decent human beings.
