This guy is just honest about who he is, he's not hiding it, and good for him it brought his stream to a huge success, and it is a great thing, well was, that SC2 community didnt censor various personalities, this isnt television ffs, yeah, we're trying to make it look like an actual sport, and it is, but it has nothing to do with actual sports, I mean, seing that guy getting demolished for bullshit over and over again, is just sad really, it's like hiding a part of who we are, I know it sounds like big words or corny, whatever, but it is true, a huge part of SC2 players recognize themselves waaaay more in Destiny than lets say Day9 for example, or even Artosis, denying that, and beating him in public for private conversations and some bullshit he did is just childish and dangerous, we're gonna end up with people being fake so they can join good teams and not follow his path. Thats the last thing I would have expected from an esport community, and as for ROOT, they lost my respect, instantly, yeah yeah, sponsors, like Destiny didnt bring eyes on your mid gm roster? The racists insults, Ok, some idiots cannot understand that he isnt even remotely racist but just trolling, ok, fine, but this? And seriously, that girl reaction, holyshit what a retard, ruining a guy like that, when she clearly knew the kind of personality when she approached him, and faced the consequences of hanging / sending nude pictures to a highly trollish streamer with a huge number of followers and fans, yeah, I guess he's such an gigantic bastard etc...
I really think this is, in general, a bad turn in the birth of esport, if communities start trying to get rid of controversial personalities or even TRACK DOWN people for controversies just like fucking paparazzis, there just wont be any identity, might as well play fucking table tennis.
I couldnt agree more. Yeah get rid of all personalitys and then wonder why nobody cares anymore. People like destiny because he talks his mind. You dont have to like him but stop taking away the fun for other people that are enjoying destiny.
You are not just punishing destiny you also punish people who like him.
He haz a stream where he call people names everyday and do his trollish acts. You should check it out. Nothing that has ever happened change his streaming.. He still streams. So his fans can continue supporting him since he is going to be a pro streamer anyway.
Like combatex.. if you like his things, you can check out his youtube or his stream.. Doesn't have to be on TL.
Oh man, I'm dying from laughter reading this thread. Cloud 9 sends douchey response to complainers and now people are sending emails to their clients. They respond by sending threatening, I'm going to sue emails. LMAO!
Good riddance to see this scumbag punished. Should have realized the 1st time he got chucked out a team that as a public figure your mistakes have bigger consequences than a normal person.
It's like if I go to Vegas and get naked it's fine and a good time; prince Harry doIng it is not the same as he has an image to uphold and standards to live by.
Destiny should grow up and realize that when you act like an asshole Charlie sheen style, eventually someone is going to cancel your show, ruin your career, and the only people who will stand up for you are the people with the same twisted mentality as you, and that you've burned all the bridges for getting back where you want to be.
Also anyone saying what the chick did was illegal, are you stupid? Insurance doesn't cover when you let someone in your house and they steal, or if you forget your keys in your car. She betrayed his trust in a huge way bit fuck me on the ass, that's what you deserve for being a self-righteous prick and making rude comments about someone's appearance in a hurtful way, someone who he was obviously involved with(so he clearly has cheated on his GF, good char. Reference there on his defense huh), in my eyes this is sweet sweet justice at its best.
I guess all you 14year old pimple faced twats who think Destiny is the infallible victim here are mentally conditioned from being called ugly so many times that you forget how hurtful it actually is.
Ps. When your in the public eye, NOTHING is private. All others beware.

The funniest thing is that as far as I can tell, they have no legal grounds whatsoever to sue for any losses they get as a result of their responses to complaints being forwarded to clients.
The absence of sound reason on display in this thread is disturbing, but not surprising given that SC2 is a game played primarily by adolescent boys.
According to most of the posters in this thread, one does not have a "personality" unless one is crude and immature like destiny. If you are a mature and considerate person you are of no value.

Sponsors dont not wish to be associated with such individuals for obvious reasons, calling them out on it and putting a spotlight is the only right thing to do.

Yeah right, let us all turn professional players into colourless figures that are well mannered and type GG every time. They shouldnt talk about private stuff, only should talk about the game. I guess NOBODY is happy with that. People want drama and want to know more about the players than just about their results.
I like people with personality much more than shadeless people who appear as robots. I like people as stephano (even though he is a arrogant dick in laddergames sometimes), MC, marineking, destiny, and idra.
You guys dont get that consequences this kind of stuff has. If people are pitchforking the sponsors because of a misbehavior of a player, players will stop showing any personality at all. They will appear as robots because they are afraid of punishment.
I like emotions in sports and i like emotions in esports. I like it when idra doesnt GG if he doesnt feel like it. Some people hate or love him for doing that. And people also want the players to talk their mind and not just meaningless stuff that doesnt offend anyone.
If you keep msging the sponsors, you will take away a big part of what makes esports interessting.
Wow you really want "esports" to be WWE with 100% more TMZ content rather than players actually playing the game?
The difference is that the WWE is using made up storylines. If a players talks his mind then its not staged it is his true emotion. I hope its not so hard to figure out the difference.
I just want that the players dont have to fear punishment because people keep emailing the sponsors, i m not saying we should encourage them to misbehave. I m just saying : stop messaging the sponsors.
Do you know what kind of players don't have to fear punishment? Players who don't treat other people horribly, or do stupid things where they can become public.
Do you know why? Because sponsors are fine with being associated with people who are good at a game and basically decent human beings.
It was a PRIVATE conversation. It was bad he shared the pictures of her. But he got payed back by getting his dickpicture twittered to 1000s of people. So thats enough punishment if you ask me. BUt no!! Start msging sponsors and making him kicked out from a team he was one of the founding members is completly wrong.

I'm not even a fan of Destiny but you don't come off as a very smart person.
When will people understand that people who constantly criticize others does not equal to "having a personality" (ie: Idra, Destiny, Deezer)... It really is pathetic to be able to get entertained at the expense of others.
You want personality? Lo and behold, it is actually possible to "have a personality" without shitting on others around you. For example:

Whether the original venue of the comments was private or public has no effect on whether they are now private or public. Brand perception is based on what is publicly known, whether or not it was originally private, and so it goes with sponsor interest. The withdrawal of sponsorship has nothing to do with punishing Destiny and everything to do with preventing brands from being tainted by being associated with his behaviour in the leaked conversation and in reaction to the leak. The team removing him is a way of protecting their brand by disassociating themselves from the incident so that sponsors can be associated with Root without being associated with Destiny, and not a punishment.

I m 26. And dont make up your on illogic conclusions about posts regarding personality. If you are a "mature" and "considerate" person then it is your cup of tea, but leave some spaces for the "badboys". That makes the sport interessting. It is the mixture of different personalitys that creates interesst and not forcing players to become colourless and uniform.

The whole community isn't like Grubby and WhiteRa and Day[9], who are super nice 24/7, nor should it be. We shouldn't hold players strictly to that standard. We should encourage them to meet it, but to expect everyone to do so unrealistic. To assume that most players meet it in their private lives in spite of their public attitudes is naive. The kind of attitude community role models like the aforementioned have takes years of growth and the right environment to nurture, and a pure determination to be relentlessly nice (which again, is not the most important or easiest trait to adopt in life, though certainly great).
Destiny is good at SC2 and is basically a decent human being. Key word is "human." Was his conversation in Skype deplorable to the decent eye? For me, yes. I'll leave each to his/her own judgement. But to me, the far greater crime is that we all have access to this conversation that clearly was meant for private eyes. That tabloid mentality that somehow the moral ambiguity of the things said in a private chat is the business of the public? That is far more deplorable.

Destiny has gone to far, for his actions he deserves a ban from the internetz because he is too stupid to respect other people. In a perfect world people like him would be tortured until they understand what respect of other people means. Beaten until they know that hurting people hurts and that it is a bad thing todo.

The aim of removing him from events was not punishment, but protection of the brands or Root Gaming and their sponsors. It is completely irrelevant to them how much Destiny suffers, or whether or not that suffering is 'enough' to balance out his behaviour.

People do not switch off their judgement of a player's behaviour just because the behaviour was not intended to be seen in public. As soon as it becomes public, it is automatically incorporated into who we judge that player to be. Obviously, anything that is never publicised cannot be used to judge who a player is. That is not deplorable, that is people failing to blind themselves to the actions of others just because they weren't supposed to find out about them.
The whole community does not have to be super-nice at all times, but not being dicks about other people where they can overhear you/ be given a record of and not calling people "gooks" or similar slurs is generally enough for sponsors to not actively avoid you.
