Amazing news, so glad they are playing next season. It looked very dire last week, never knew it would actually be resolved for GSL4.

Dear GOMTV.net users,

This is Mr. Chae.

Many things have happened over the last week and I believe many overseas fans have been following the news regarding the current situation in Korean e-Sports. We have been looking over the comments on various community sites regarding this incident and were very moved by the many fans who left encouraging messages for GOMTV on Twitter and community boards. We promise to repay your kindness with great content.

GSL Season 4 will begin today with the Up&Down matches. We hope all of you are looking forward to a series of exciting matches that will determine who will participate in this season’s Code S tournament.

In contrast to the unfortunate news we had to announce last week, we are happy that today we will be able to greet you with some good news.

The Korean e-Sports association (KeSPA) has decided to participate in the GSL Season 4 Code A qualifiers and we have already received the list of participants.

Because of this, there will be an adjustment to the schedule for the GSL Season 4 Code A qualifiers:
- Old date: September 5th/6th -> New date: September 12th/13th
- Location: Intel e-Sports Stadium, Shindorim

Additionally, we are currently in discussion regarding Code A and Code S seeds for KeSPA players. GOMTV is planning to provide 2 Code S seeds as well as 4 Code A seeds for players of the Korean e-Sports association. We will update you with the list of seeded players as soon as they are confirmed.

We have some additional news regarding the Up&Down matches. Because of a severe typhoon warning, the return of the Korean players who were attending MLG will be delayed. It is possible that we will have to adjust the schedule for the Up&Down matches on short notice, due to some players not being able to attend because of this natural disaster. We are currently in contact with the players in the US and will revise the schedule accordingly, if needed.

Many things have happened over the last week. We would like to once again thank all e-Sports fans for their tremendous support and words of encouragement for GOMTV.

This is the beginning. We will strive to provide all of you with the best content possible. See you at the GSL.

Thank you.

Fuck yeah!! I guess Roro is a guarenteed Code S seed, the second beïng Reality/Hero or Jaedong (maybe Effort). Jaedong and Effort will surely get a Code A spot. What are you guy's thought's on who is getting the seeds?

I believe Kespa will be the ones deciding on who gets the seeds, so it'll be interesting to see who they pick to receive the seeds haha.

Off-topic: Are you the wow player massivez?

I think it will be heavily dependent on proleague placing as to who gets the seeds, although Kespa may want to send the best for pride reasons, but I feel they'll send players from the teams not in proleague into the seeded positions.

Haha I wonder if Kespa will be so crazy as to throw all the seeds to their B-teamers, kinda like an act of defiance like "Hey look this is what I think of your seeds!~ /spit".

Can't imagine the typhoon of poop that'd be stirred up if that actually happens. Man.. Some people just want to see the world burn Not me though. I like peace

It's good that Kespa are allowing their slaves to play a second tournament outside of their control but I just don't see what these Kespa players have done to deserve code s spots, if you could point me to a major international tournament win for any of them I'd agree but as is now they simply don't deserve it. It seems incredibly silly to think that two years into sc2 players can use achievements in a different game to get seeds into the top 32 of the world.

More importantly thou then the question of if they deserve it is that this means two should be code s players are getting forced to stay in code a or were refused seeds they deserved.

I hate politics.

This had to be the only outcome unless the first sc2 OSL was going to be cancelled. Regardless of how good the kespa players are, it was still a breach of the deal they made with ESF if they don't participate in GSL 4. Definitely the best outcome for everybody, and so what if a few kespa legends get beat up, it will make them train even harder and improve faster, which is what fans of Flash, JD, bisu, stork and fantasy etc want, myself included!

Can't believe it actually resolved so well in the end. Really good news. Shows that the ESF is really useful.

Ugh, that was some ugly arm-twisting from both sides. Good to see a decent conclusion, but the whole debacle just left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm really afraid that another dispute would look way uglier than this one, but let's hope it never comes to that.

it is no different than foreigners getting seeds to code S. It benefits GOM because it gets them more viewership.

But I agree seeds in general are kinda stupid.

The reason they've giving seeds out is because they have the same goals as KeSPA.

The reason KeSPA wanted to keep their players out of GSL was to monopolize KeSPA vs ESF matches in the OSL - they would be the only league showing current SC2 stars vs KeSPA elephants.

With these news, it's also possible for GOM to show these kinds of matches. The best way to guarantee that that happens is to provide at least a few freebies for KeSPA players to ensure that they do get to play against GSL players in broadcasted matches.

In a season or two I would expect these kinds of seeds to go away as KeSPA players begin to match ESF players toe-to-toe in Code A / S.

Also, mad props to ESF for not letting go of KeSPA's balls when it counted

These are the "special tactics" required to get Kespa to follow the spirit of an agreement they made not very long ago.
We should take these Kespa bureaucrats and the Olympic committee bureaucrats and put them in the ring with john jones.

This does not portend well for a good future. Hopefully, Kespa will finally play nice, but I would not count on it.

It'll be interesting to see how hard KESPA screws over MLG in their "agreement".
I mean will we ever see a KESPA player at an MLG event.

KeSPA had to learn the hard that NesTea is no ZergBong anymore.

Good news for eSports. I hope GOM/ESF and OGN/KeSPA will sit at a table and discuss things without drama in order to avoid this kind of PR disaster in the future.

Great news! Hopefully in the future Kespa will no longer control teams so tightly, but for now this is the best outcome possible. Shows what can happen if people organize themselves for a good cause
