more drama incoming... it's quite saddening to see kespa (at least that's how it seems) backing out on an agreement they made just a few months ago... I hope Blizzard can negotiate between the two parties.

This is just hurting esports and who wants that?!

the "teams" ARE kespa.

? no, there's got to be a hierarchy. kespa players were fed up with kespa long before this, meaning if they had any power they would have done something. but they didn't = no power.

You seem to not understand what it means to be a part of a professional team...

yea i don't think i do.

wtf, is it me or does this hurt their own players a lot as well (EFS's players); afaik, it's most of their dream to be playing in an OSL, and there is a huge chance that one of them will win it as well. Must be REALLY disappointing for them to give up this chance.

Or perhaps they realized there is something more important than holding one particular trophy that was much more prestigious in BW than in SC2.

I bet Kespa players themselves are secretly rooting for ESF instead. Schedule clashes, overworked are just excuses. If they have more freedom to choose what they want to participate, they can choose what they want to join and not join. Different players have different schedule preferences and amount of stamina. Open competition between tournaments is good for the overall development of e-sports. Weird how nobody comments on MLG getting fucked indirectly too :D

AFAIK KeSPA are the sponsors. Essentially, Samsung and the Korean telecom companies are trying to kill the competition. I know what brand my next phone wont be.

okay if the sponsors are running the show that really sucks. they're pretty screwed imo.

I don't really think they are so much acting for sponsors, but rather their own ego trip on this. Still, I don't think I can forgive Samsung if this turns badly.

Damn that escalated quickly.

But maybe ESF can hold up against KeSPA, hopefully. Maybe with the help of black magic. And souls of unborn children as sacrafices to the dark voodo gods.

Wow I thought about this the other day as a response to Kespa being a bit shitty with their choice earlier this week. But I was thinking to myself "GSL have no control over their players though, so I don't think they can do that?"

Completely forgot about the Esports Fed. That's awesome, I'm so happy for GOM that they dont have to put up with this bs silently.

Edit: I'm really not an expert on the BW scene, but I've heard this stated a couple of times on TL.

I'm sure Samsung will shed a tear because Chenz from Sweden won't buy a Samsung cellphone...

What I'm wondering is this: why are the ESF teams so loyal to GSL? Sure, it was their big break, and they enjoyed a lot of attention the last two years, but do they really value this relationship with GOM over the pure selfish value of jumping ship?

I mean, surely it would be strictly in their interest if the ESF teams all abandoned the GSL and instead participated only in the OSL, which would then become the centrepiece for SC2. So why have they instead decided to leave OSL and stick with GSL? Surely it has to be more than loyalty and friendship.

But if it really is out of pure loyalty, then I would think that the ESF teams are to be commended, even if it turns out that, in the long run, this is a bad move for the SC2 scene in general.

problem is kespa can't go back to brood war anyway as they don't hold the licence and blizzard can just take them to court and ruin them like they were going to last time before they decided to switch and agree to all this that now they have gone back on.
