i see this as a good move by ESF. ballsy, but good. kespa needs to be taught to learn their place in the sc2 scene.

I bet Kespa players themselves are secretly rooting for ESF instead. Schedule clashes, overworked are just excuses. If they have more freedom to choose what they want to participate, they can choose what they want to join and not join. Different players have different schedule preferences and amount of stamina. Open competition between tournaments is good for the overall development of e-sports. Weird how nobody comments on MLG getting fucked indirectly too :D kespa players have never liked kespa...... everyone except for some are supporting ESF atm none of them are, I can assure you that.
Can't assure anything. Much like how he doesn't know what the kespa players are thinking.

Must be REALLY disappointing for them to give up this chance. Or perhaps they realized there is something more important than holding one particular trophy that was much more prestigious in BW than in SC2.
I couldn't agree more.
The OSL had to prove it could carry its prestige from BW to SC2. This was the tournament that could settle this, though I think a lot of fan were confident..
I don't think it will mean a huge disappointement for ESF's players, since a Kespa-players only OSL in SC2 won't place OSL on the ladder of prestige in SC2 tournaments (well, basically, it won't be comparable to GSL, it won't be possible to rank them...).
Then, imo OSL will remain irrelevant in SC2 until GSL players get in (or at least, not AS relevant as if GSL players, especially Code S, played it.)

I mean, surely it would be strictly in their interest if the ESF teams all abandoned the GSL and instead participated only in the OSL, which would then become the centrepiece for SC2. So why have they instead decided to leave OSL and stick with GSL? Surely it has to be more than loyalty and friendship.
But if it really is out of pure loyalty, then I would think that the ESF teams are to be commended, even if it turns out that, in the long run, this is a bad move for the SC2 scene in general.
Because, as it happens, there is SOME good in the world. When a company unfairly refuses to let their players participate in things they were openly excited to participate in, then publicly lies about the reasons (or so it seems), those with the voice and power call them out on it.

I hope kespa players form a players association within them, and then shit would get fucking real, imagine flash, bisu, fantasy, stork and jaedong banding together and saying, well if we can't decide what tournaments where we want to go, we're all going to join LG-IM XDDD
+ Show Spoiler +Of course, what i am saying is pure fantasy, but a players association within kespa would protect their interests

There's only value in jumping ship if you can't see further than the tip of your nose. It should be obvious that if GOM dies, esf teams are impacted negatively.

Alot of people seem to think this is all a loyalty play. I'm sure that might be some of it, but I think that the eSF players saw that they can potentially force a change in KeSPA for the first time in their careers - remember that all of these players have years of experience being under KeSPA so know alot more about what the players go through then people on TL.

I got a question:
Starcraft 2 is Blizzard´s interllectual property, right? So they could say to anyone:
"You can´t broadcast our game we won´t allow that and if you do so you break the law and we will sue you."
Is that correct?

Yes, so long as they don't have Blizz's permission.

So there are 6 parties here, they are - OGN GOMTV KesPA KesPA players ESF ESF players
KesPA prevents KesPA players from participating in the league because then the league KesPA is in control of (OGN) have everything GOMTV's league (GSL) aswell as KesPA players, which will be more exciting. ESF knows that this will make GOMTV fall of if nothing is done against it, but first lets discuss difference between the organizations and the players.
KesPA is a dictatorship, they tell their players what they play in and the players have no choice but to do as they're told, because of contracts. ESF is a democrazy, they plan together with their players, and their decisisons are not final untill the players have said so.
ESF was mainly supported by GOMTV during the first 1½ years of the teams existing, and they knew that this move by KesPA would make OSL far bigger then GSL.
And now we have KesPA players, where the vast majority have said that they would like to play in the GSL, so what ESF is doing here is not only saving GOMTV but also trying to free the KesPA players from the iron grasp of KesPA.
Most people agree dictatorship is bad, which is why we always try and bring democrazy to countries without it, this is kinda similar.
