Sure, it was their big break, and they enjoyed a lot of attention the last two years, but do they really value this relationship with GOM over the pure selfish value of jumping ship? I mean, surely it would be strictly in their interest if the ESF teams all abandoned the GSL and instead participated only in the OSL, which would then become the centrepiece for SC2. So why have they instead decided to leave OSL and stick with GSL? Surely it has to be more than loyalty and friendship. But if it really is out of pure loyalty, then I would think that the ESF teams are to be commended, even if it turns out that, in the long run, this is a bad move for the SC2 scene in general. It's also self preservation. Do you think the ESF players actually want to wind up in KeSPA teams and how they are currently ran? edit: For further clarification, if KeSPA successfully took over SC2 in Korea, that means all of the ESF players would have to play by their rules and sign their contracts or get picked up by foreign teams. Given all of the complaints and past actions by KeSPA, it shouldn't be much of a stretch to think they'd prefer to either change KeSPA or remain separate.

If I'm not mistaken both Foreign and Korean communities are on ESF/GOMs side.

Now, in all of this, ask yourself - why is it that we can get responses from all of the ESF (and non-ESF players) players about it, but we haven't heard anything (at least at the time I'm writing this, I haven't seen anything) about this action by Stork? Bisu? Flash? Why is it that the ESF players are speaking for themselves, in addition to what Nestea has said, but I haven't seen one post or reference to a statement, tweet, or facebook post by any of the KeSPA players? Maybe that's really what the ESF is trying to fix. Stork himself said once, not long ago, that he thinks a players union might be a good idea. He said it quietly, once, to convey how he felt about KeSPA's dictatorial action in regards to the hybrid PL. I think, perhaps, the KeSPA players have been too quiet. They want to compete. They really want to show how they've improved, and if they believe they can take on ESF players, ESF players want them to try. The WCS shows that the KeSPA players have improved, and are improving at a great rate. I would absolutely love to see Flash, Bisu, Jaedong, Stork, Leta, and others publicly comment on if they feel ready, if they are willing to try, and if they disagree with KeSPA's decision. But I don't think that will happen unless there is a very brave KeSPA player - because making waves is bad if you are in that kind of contracted employee position. ESF players aren't - they choose, usually consulting with their teams. They aren't gagged, they aren't tied into participation in any event by their "employer". (Okay, I don't know if FXOBoss or SirScoots or Coach Park might stand behind players with a whip saying "You will go to IEM!" but I strongly doubt it.) This strikes me as players standing up for players.

At this point, boycotting KeSPA (not watching the OSL, etc) is very likely by many. Remember that even KeSPA with "the awesome Brood War game" couldn't prevent sponsors from losing interest and viewers from declining (and everyone from watching kpop instead). They have Flash, Jaedong, Bisu, Stork, etc but having star power alone isn't going to help them get viewers. Boycotting their event is very likely. I said it before in another thread but I am getting tired of SC2. I come back only for the positiveness of the community as a whole (including tournament organizers). I'm sure others feel this way too. Besides, all KeSPA's super stars are only super stars from BW and not SC2 (they haven't proven themselves yet). Despite me being one of those who was on the side of "BW players were going to own up once they switch", I won't be bothering with OSL if KeSPA keeps this up.
