This was the only response. I hope they (both camps) will see that the korean scene does not benefit from a 2-sided boycot and re-open negotiations.

ESF just saved GOM's ass. KeSPA's decision was going to fuck GOM over really, really hard. This shifts the blame back to KeSPA where it belongs. Hope everything gets resolved, but I'm not holding my breath.

They have a lot actually. If KeSPA kills GOM, ESF will die with it.

And if GOM dies that means less tournaments = less chance to make money for the pros/teams.

Why are we even considering GOM will die? The sc2 grew with the addition of Kespa players switching to sc2. If you were watching sc2 before them you still will. While continuing to follow your current/past favorite players. Players can double dip, unless you're Kespa.

Its pretty ridiculous that the ESF would react this way. You won't allow your players to play in our code a qualifiers, boo, hiss. So we decided we are going to pull our players out of your tournament already going on!

I think he meant this ESF withdrawal thing. Not a blizzard response.

I think.

This is incorrect. ESF was founded because the new teams didn't like the way KeSPA restricted player freedom, and it served to protect the ESF teams for awhile so that they could find sponsors and maintain their own autonomy.

Them seeing KeSPA enforce restrictive rules like back in the old day, threatens the ESF teams. Eventually KeSPA will be one of the big decision-making organizations in the Korean SC2 scene, and if they have regulations which restrict KeSPA teams from participating in other tournaments, what is to stop them from setting out restrictive regulations for the ESF teams preventing them from competing in KeSPA-sanctioned tournaments some time in the future?

This move will force OGN to force KeSPA to come to the table to talk things through, at least to salvage the upcoming OSL.

One thing's for sure. GSL will survive with or without the KeSPA players at least for the next 1-2 years.

For what its worth, just want to say I fully support the esf players in this.

My only hope now is the the star Kespa players unite and speak out about their desires as players, then Kespa will be in a position where they have to be more reasonable and we all win.

I feel the esf players are really making a personal sacrifice here for the greater good and we should all respect that for what it is. OSL means a huge amount to those players, so them pulling out like this should tell you how much this means to them.

Or you can try CS. Valve seems to be pushing CS:GO as a e-sports title.

Hopefully affected players, as an individual, would give their opinion whether they want to participate or not. Then again that would damage the integrity of the decisions made. lol Then again these are 2 major groups in SC2 eSports in Korea where progaming is where it's at its finest, should lead by example. Hopefully they should think of the fans/viewers rather than make some vague decision to pull out players as they see fit for some obscure project.

If this goes on long enough, I wonder if the lower level KeSPA players will simply defect en masse and form teams within ESF. Obviously only a few players like Flash are making bank, so if this persists, I don't see what the regulars have to lose by leaving.

To be honest, I would say this is still alright. OSL is fucked but GSL would still go on. Just...without any kespa players.

I don´t like what´s happening in the Korean SC2 E-Sports scene right now. It would be the best for the whole scene if all involved parties would work together in order to make E-Sport grow. Because basically they all have the same goal, which is to make SC2 more popular and to make more money out of it. If they fight each other, they weaken their overall position which is a bad thing and rather counterproductive.
