Is there snow in Korea? Cuz if they're gunna have a pissing contest I don't want it to b some lame distance thing, they should have to spell the names of all the players that got screwed. Maby then they will remember who they are supposed to be helping.

Good for them, seriously.

Hopefully this shows Kespa that the rest of the Korean scene isn't to be fucked around.

I'm interested to see what OGN do now though, being down 8 players.

Start from the Round of 8

It's not childish, it's a freaking business decision. KeSPA was looking for an open conflict and they got it. There is so much that could stem from this. A lot of foreign teams have shared interest with ESF. These teams could force majors tournaments to prevent KeSPA players from playing in it. And if MLG sides with the foreign scene like I think they will, then SC2 on OGN will have huge difficulties.

what, did I say anything wrong?

its not a situation that can't be fixed and if this situation stands the OSL(this season) is destroyed, and the integrity of the GSL is also hurt.

The fact that Blizz issued a response to KeSPA's decision makes me think they're watching this pretty closely. If they intend to intervene, I hope they do so before this spirals out of control.

Has blizzard issued a bigger response other than the initial concern?

Do some research and tell me when KeSPA actually gave a fuck to what Blizzard thinks or who Blizzard gives broadcasting rights to. KeSPA has the support of Korean government (it's unreasonable to think otherwise, without that how could KeSPA take on Blizzard this well?), GOM does not. KeSPA can make an OSL just as good without ESF players. Hell, even GOM can make a GSL without KeSPA players. Why can't KeSPA make an OSL without ESF players? How many ESF players played in the previous OSLs? The answer is as you know, zero. All current ESF players that happened to have played in any OSL was a KeSPA player back then, so they don't count.

This isn't Brood War, if Blizzard doesn't allow them to broadcast sc2 they can't because Blizzard properly secured the IP rights this time. They can use a hacked LAN version but Blizzard could sue them for that.

That would change everything actually. Source?

I don't have a source but this has been discussed many times, the #1 reason for no LAN in Starcraft 2 is so Blizzard can stop any event from running that they don't approve of by blacklisting them on battle.net.

complete crap. no offence but that is just wrong on so many levels. You could use any random accounts and blizzard would have no idea who is playing some random games.

All of SC2 runs over Blizzards servers. Of course they can figure out which accounts are being used for a televised tournament. Using things like random accounts makes it a bit more tricky, but it's still not more than an hour of work with good database tools.

I totally fail to understand how people can argue withdrawing from an ongoing league makes esf the bad guy in this!?

This is just messed up, it honestly shouldnt matter even if it would be round of 4 with all-gsl-players now withdrawing.
Seriously.
It's about kespa doing the same shit over and over and esf trying to preserve their players freedom by showing kespa how enough is enough.
It amazes me how much the "free" players are in support of gomtv and I think it should be, at least, be taken into consideration how much positive feedback esf did get from korean netizens (according to posts earlier in this thread).
I believe some people in here only judge the one who (imo) points at the problem (ESF)
and not the one who really is the source of the problem (kespa).

Please consider this when you make up an opinion regarding this mess.
I wonder if there will be cake...

I think we all want a quick solution. Hopefully Kespa thinks about the possible foreigner money and changes their mind.

regardless of what kespa did, this is worse.

Kespa didn't hold up their part of the "agreement" and block their players from playing in the GSL. They sure don't mind that federation players join OSL though. Why? Because they make money off it while fucking over GOM.

This was an inevitable result of the decision Kespa made.

Source on this "agreement", what are the details of it? Was there a contract? KeSPA made a dick move but there was no wrong-doing. Gutting the OSL of half it's competitors is not the same. You are left with a ghost of point.

Obviously there was some kind of agreement as both blizzard and the federation players were very suprised to hear that Kespa declined to play in the GSL.

I for one don't really care if it hurts OSL if it will open the korean scene up a bit and give players more freedom to do what they want. Pulling out their players while still believing the federation players would just happily join OSL was a stupid mistake.

Is there anything you type that isn't speculation?

What we know is that both GOM, the ESF, and Blizzard all were suprised by Kespa deciding to not let their players play in the GSL.

Is it so far fetched to assume that this was supposed to be a "first time" tryout where OSL had non kespa players and the GSL had kespa players? It seems likely to me but as with every story like this we don't get all the information.

Personally I won't be so naive to believe that. They side with GOM because it's the best chance for them to survive and prosper.
