I really hope that KeSPA really sees that the ESF players pulling out is a huge deal and realize that they shouldn't restrict player freedom to participate. I mean if the players don't feel they're ready they can choose not to participate, but obviously a lot of players Jaedong, Roro, etc have all stated they want to qualify.
Allowing KeSPA to dictate which tournaments players can participate in is just bad for everyone overall, and hopefully the ESF "voluntary boycott" sends KeSPA a message before OSL actually starts and we'll have a Ro16 with only 8 players.

Kespa needs to die already. They're completely useless in the increasing globalization of esports. Not only that, but almost every major decision (from power outages, to how they've handled these 'negotiations') they have made in the past ~2 years has been competely insane. Fuck kespa. That is all.

They side with GOM because it's the best chance for them to survive and prosper.
yeah that too of course, but winning the next 3 osls is also a good way for the esf players to prosper, they let that chance go for gom

I have a feeling this will end badly for GOM.

Not only this. But if GOMTV dies, then i'm pretty sure that ESF players won't be allowed to participate in OGN events. So this is also self-protection.

What happens if all the Kespa players just decide to say fuck it and leave kespa? I'm sure the teams will still support them and i'm not sure kespa would pursue legal action vs that many people.

Finally KeSPA getting bullied for once. First Blizz Korea's announcement yesterday (they're "disappointed with the turn of the events" or whatever they said) and now this. I believe they will have to back down and just let players who want it participate in the GSL.

Good job by the ESF players. I'm all for forcing Kespa forward.

Do some research and tell me when KeSPA actually gave a fuck to what Blizzard thinks or who Blizzard gives broadcasting rights to. KeSPA has the support of Korean government (it's unreasonable to think otherwise, without that how could KeSPA take on Blizzard this well?), GOM does not. KeSPA can make an OSL just as good without ESF players. Hell, even GOM can make a GSL without KeSPA players. Why can't KeSPA make an OSL without ESF players? How many ESF players played in the previous OSLs? The answer is as you know, zero. All current ESF players that happened to have played in any OSL was a KeSPA player back then, so they don't count. Blizzard has complete control over SC2 which is something they didn't have in BW. Blizzard can Blacklist the IP that they are broadcasting from. They can ban the commentators. They can disconnect the players mid game. If KeSPA uses a hacked version then they can and will be sued. You were the last post in this thread, so I chose you sorry. The complete ignorance and rush in this thread is ridiculous. Blizzard does have complete control, but Blizzard is not a dumb company. Kespa has run things and created the esport side of RTS with BW. Blizzard had nothing to do with it. And with that KESPA secured so many sponsors and even a television company. Blizzard does not have control if they want to remain in a market that is so heavily influenced by KESPA they have to fall in line. Two despite the fact that I don't think KESPA would do this to both of your points. Blizzard can blacklist IP's. KESPA could create a LAN mode, or even more easily use the Korean government to keep their IP secret. They can't ban commentators lol? Commentators are people and they can choose to do as they please. They could disconnect players from the game, but what happens if they don't know the account? If KESPA were to be sued KESPA would probably win again. And they didn't really win, but Blizzard had no shot. Now, I don't think any of that will happen, but seriously stop posting out of your ass guys. Read FXO Boss' blog because it is most likely how this will wind up. Power is power and money is money, sorry guys. http://fxoboss.tumblr.com/Show nested quote +On August 24 2012 19:06 achan1058 wrote:On August 24 2012 19:05 OopsOopsBaby wrote: i call bullshit if gom is not involved in influencing the decision. esf gains nothing from pulling out their players but gom does. The reason KeSPA didn't switch to SC2 when it came out was because blizz wouldn't let them broadcast.
If KeSPA and GOm go to war and Blizz sides with GOM then KeSPA will die. If KeSPA broadcasts without a license then they are openly committing a crime and that is not something that major companies want to be associated with.

well nothing's gonna happen in the weekend and anyway OGN schedules the OSL to have that extra week(in case tiebreakers for the Ro16)
I really hope this gets fixed on monday, hopefully kespa lets the players play in the GSL and this decision gets withdrawn.
then again, knowing Kespa....this won't end well.

you think so? imo if GOMTV dies and the esf players (which are still the big names in sc2) only play in their own league that would be the perfect outcome for kespa and ogn or not?

Why people keep bringing that up ? They are PAID by Kespa, aren't they ?

This isn't Brood War, if Blizzard doesn't allow them to broadcast sc2 they can't because Blizzard properly secured the IP rights this time. They can use a hacked LAN version but Blizzard could sue them for that. That would change everything actually. Source? I don't have a source but this has been discussed many times, the #1 reason for no LAN in Starcraft 2 is so Blizzard can stop any event from running that they don't approve of by blacklisting them on battle.net. complete crap. no offence but that is just wrong on so many levels. You could use any random accounts and blizzard would have no idea who is playing some random games. I don't think we have to worry i think this is all just cloak and dagger stuff. Either one of them will fold, personally i can actually see why Kespa would want more time for their players, but i dont see why they would not allow their players, but i think the ESF's decision is a bluff...we will soon find out i guess
Im pretty sure blizzard can search 2 account names in a same lobby and ban them. Hell it would be even enough to ban the commentator account or search a map lobby and look for Accounts with Event names. GSL is the new thing and Kespa seems to dont know its place in the sc2 scene.

What did Blizzard say 30 minutes ago?

all the people saying its in goms interest are wrong!!! Everybody talks about GOm vs Kespa the organizations....... People forget about all the GSL teams that have alot of interest in having GSL stay and not get black balled like gom got in BW. These teams dont have the big budgets big team houses or big sponsors like the kespa teams have!

Well, not for KeSPA i'd say, because they can decide to allow only the tournaments in which they have fincancial interests...
