regardless of what kespa did, this is worse. you're reacting emotionally instead of logically. ESF had no other choice. its a bit of both, ESF could have had its teams decline any sort of invitation to play in the next season of proleague instead, the point is that the action made was quite rash. again kespa didn't want their players to take part in qualifiers, ESF retorts by pulling their players off from the middle of the tournment.
Then the OSL gets the first BW vs SC2 tournament while GOM is fucked. This is the start of something new and Kespa/OSL trying to eat the cake and have it too is what created this mess.

Gom was not involved in this decision. The very teams that compose ESF are the heart and soul of GOM. While it's true that GOM isn't part of this on paper, they are in spirit. It's the same thing that people were saying with Kespa about not watching OSL. OSL is run by OGN, not Kespa. They can do that there, I can do this here. GOM just hosts a tournament, they have no power over what the other teams or players does, they have no power whatsoever. stop spreading misinformation.
They host the (used to be) largest sc2 league in Korea. I'd say that gives them some influence.

Well this is hardly unexpected, but it's a terrible start to the BW transition to SC2 in Korea.
Based on both past behaviour and recent events it would be great to see some sort dialogue with mediation (from Blizzard maybe?) between ESF and KeSPA.
I see comments to effect of "fuck KeSPA, boycott those assholes" etc. It's not really about taking sides, it's working to resolve this so that "GSL" players and KeSPA players can play in both GSL, OSL and whatever other leagues may arise in the future.
I would be very curious to know what KeSPA is trying to gain from their actions. Obviously their reason regarding player scheduling was not the whole truth as we have seen this before back in 2008 in BW. ESF players had been acting in good faith by participating in the OSL qualifiers and accepting their seeds. One would think it would make sense for the KeSPA players to reciprocate and participate in GSL.
Something needs to happen to move things forward as soon as possible. If things stay in this deadlock for too long it will only become harder to repair.

By the way, this is exactly why Stork has been asking for a player's organization for a long ass time. The Kespa players should at least have a say in this whole shitstorm, which right now they don't.

I want that damn Blizzard statement NOW!
Hopefully they see that the community of both Foreign and Korean are on ESF's side and back ESF/GOM.

If Blizzard pulls KeSPA's broadcasting license then they can't broadcast SC2. Do some research and tell me when KeSPA actually gave a fuck to what Blizzard thinks or who Blizzard gives broadcasting rights to. KeSPA has the support of Korean government (it's unreasonable to think otherwise, without that how could KeSPA take on Blizzard this well?), GOM does not. KeSPA can make an OSL just as good without ESF players. Hell, even GOM can make a GSL without KeSPA players. Why can't KeSPA make an OSL without ESF players? How many ESF players played in the previous OSLs? The answer is as you know, zero. All current ESF players that happened to have played in any OSL was a KeSPA player back then, so they don't count.
Blizzard has complete control over SC2 which is something they didn't have in BW. Blizzard can Blacklist the IP that they are broadcasting from. They can ban the commentators. They can disconnect the players mid game.
If KeSPA uses a hacked version then they can and will be sued.

Best thing that could ever happen in this situation. I might even reward GomTV by buying a season ticket this time around.
PS : I'll buy a ticket not because of the ESF decision but because they represent the side I want to see the most in Starcraft.

Nice drama, but child's play by ESF. They agreed before and then denied. They can pull out the next OSL, but withdrawing current OSL is child's play.
At least, Kespa never agreed anything before the announcement.

Fixed.

Although the end results seems similiar, I think it is actually very different. Kespa players are bound by contract to follow Kespa's decisions. ESF players made a decision with their teams to back GOM.

LOL Gom TV is owned under CJ entus which also owns OGN. If this shit goes down the gutter, CJ entus will protect the latter one and could potentially stop GSL altogether.

From the looks of it, Kespa owns all.

Gom's move imo. Gom needs to issue a statement urging ESF to not pull from the OSL. GOM will be glorified in the end, no matter what statement KeSpa ends up making.
|
I agree with the move. KeSPA fucked over BW in a huge way, none of us know the true situation of how they made a monopoly out of it over there. The situation with GOM classics too, how much money did they lose with that?
If something like this isnt done to show KeSPA "we are not fucking around" then KeSPA will take over again and our scene will die.
Sorry, my opinion.

Well that kinda sucks, though obviously justifiable after what kespa did. Lets hope blizzard can somehow fix this mess that is the korean scene atm.

Are you sure? From the interviews, the Kespa players all felt they were going to be playing in the qualifiers.

ESF would of course still stick by GOM but this move would really fuck kespa by paining them as the bad guys. Checkmate Kespa

regardless of what kespa did, this is worse. Kespa didn't hold up their part of the "agreement" and block their players from playing in the GSL. They sure don't mind that federation players join OSL though. Why? Because they make money off it while fucking over GOM. This was an inevitable result of the decision Kespa made. Source on this "agreement", what are the details of it? Was there a contract? KeSPA made a dick move but there was no wrong-doing. Gutting the OSL of half it's competitors is not the same. You are left with a ghost of point.

damn this is quite the escalation, don't think there is any hope of peaceful resolution at this time
