KeSPA does. They own the teams. The only way that could happen is if an entire team literally quit/retired/moved from KeSPA entirely, abandoning their sponsors, then formed their own new independent team.

kespa should ban all ESF players from ever participating in OSL again
that'd probably force ESF to reconsider boycotting pretty quickly

Guess not.
Seriously, GOM & co are such drama queens. Just an FYI this is the players decisions. Nothing to do with GOM the players want to react themselves. Isn't that funny now you can't blame GOM as they don't have ANY control over the players in what they play or not. Yes, let's trust bland PR statements because they're definitely being honest. -_- It's literally the same thing on both sides and for literally the same reasons. Except the GSL players already committed to playing in OSL. And GOM and ESF are close enough that it's silly to say it has nothing to do with GOM.
How dare you doubt Nestea!

Intriguing turn of events.
Looks like "everyone not KeSPA" won't accept being bullied by the latter and I hope this will lead to OGN putting some pressure on KeSPA.
I still think KeSPA should have let the players, or even the teams decide if they wanted to participate.

Holy shit seriously? FFS It is not even that much of a big deal! Who cares if KESPA players aren't in the up coming GSL qualifiers this time! Jesus, now they have just spoilt an amazing tournament in OSL coming up. I'd much rather see KESPA vs KESPA for a bit longer anyway, maybe just one more season (2-3more months) as i think they still need a bit more time to be able to be ready for proper good games vs GSL players. Now we get another huge shit storm which might be the final nail in the coffin for this never to happen!

It might hurt Kespa, but GOM will be fine as from what I read korean fans (that watch GSL players anyway) agree with their decision as it's been fairly positive someone said. I dont think thats a reality, if GOM(ESF) risks that much, it means they are threatened already by Kespa players reputation in Korea. Meaning Kespa already leads in Korea, how long GOM will live by foreign votes? What are they risking though? Kespa fucked GOM, so ESF fucked Kespa. Considering ESF has been basically supported by the regular paycheck of GSL, the move makes sense. Mr. Chae (and Artosis on a few SOTGs) has gone on record multiple times saying GSL was basically there to fund teams until they could get real sponsors with Code A and Code S paychecks. What happened was Kespa threw a jab at GOM, and ESF stepped in to tackle them to the ground. Now Kespa has figure out how they're going to get standing again. Can you tell me what they're risking? Especially when Korean fans are uniformly with the ESF decision? ESF what are they risking? Their organization along with GOM. Why? Because KESPA doesn't need their players now, they will just offer them bigger paychecks later. Because KESPA has MONEY. KESPA threw a fucking haymaker. ESF slapped them because they have no real influence. Now, KESPA doesn't have to give a shit. One more blow. Snipe all ESF/GOM players ASAP. Why? Cuz dey has money. Uhh no. 1) They signed an agreement not to do that and 2) All of the players wont suddenly up and move.
For 1 year... They can wait as long as they need to. KeSPA isn't in a rush to get this all worked out.

It wouldn't. They don't plan on playing in the OSL already lol. They aren't going to try next season if kespa is still going to ban their players from playing in GSL.

Than KeSPA has something to explain to those guys. ESF/GOM did everything right in this case, they don't like getting screwed over, they did the only thing they could do. It sucks, but KeSPA has to be brought down to an acceptable level of power cause this is just retarded. I won't be watching any OSL events until KeSPA gives in.

The ESF IS the players... research my good man it is not hard to do, maybe you should try it sometime.

And the one who announce this decision is Nestea. A player. See the difference? Is there anywhere with a list of what the progamers have said? Any links you can give? ok this is pretty sick.
But i understand this decision and kind of support it. I think Kespa brought it on them self.

This doesn't really surprise me, and I don't think anyone can blame the ESF for making this decision. It sounds a bit like a fight between kindergardeners to say "KeSPA started it!", but well... they kinda did. Now there's consequences. I guess they aren't used to that. I think this is the right move to do. It's sad overall, and it makes me a bit nervous to think about how this could "hurt esports" as we like to call it. But a line had to be drawn, and KeSPA needs to understand that maybe it's not always a good idea to try to make everyone play by their rules.
|
Not sure if this is the correct move by ESF, but definitely understandable. Kespa says FU, you say FU back. What I'm hoping for right now is that the Kespa-players just give Kespa the finger and play in GSL anyway, alhough from my limited knowledge of the Kespa scene that might be near impossible.

Looking back at it now, I think maybe Mvp (and other players) probably thought this was a real possibility.

Lovely. So SC2 is a small scene in Korea and now they decide to make it even smaller!
All this does is make SC2 more unattractive to the average viewer who does not want drama.
