Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything.

To be fair, Stephano and the EG players get along really well, with Stephano staying in the Lair in the past.
It's not suprising that EG are keen and the stephano has taken u their offer.

Hiring a well respected sports psychologist to work on the mental aspect and strain on their players... hardly conducive to improving the players.

Flying large parts of their roster to compete in tons of events around the world... hardly conducive to improving their players.

Shall I continue, or do you want to reconsider that dumb post?

Has any player actually improved since joining EG? No, actually some of them seem to have gone backwards in the pro scene if anything. So maybe they are like the kids who get the Benz from their parents before they work hard in college, seems less of a reason for one to actually improve their standing.

Just look at the Korean scene, they have players you have not even heard of that can beat some of the best foreign players. Once EG sign players and actually improve them and get one or two to regularly sit in code s then you can come back to me legitimately and say my post is dumb. Until that point you are looking like some sort of sad virgin who only looks for posts for some pety sort of argument.

So you are actually going to argue that any of the points I made are not conducive to improving the play of their roster? Your post was dumb, this post is dumb, and the fact that you quickly resort to personal insults when you are called out is dumb.

You took my post way to literal. Point is EG have not improved any of their players, maybe there is a reason for that.... oh wait i guess that is dumb aswell.

What foreign teams have improved their players? Maybe you can answer that? All the relevant SC2 teams have gone the way of buying Koreans.

goswser, sheth, trimaster all come to mind.
Why would you ever choose failure, when success is an option.

Good luck man, you deserve it.

I hear its more like +15k$ per month.

I hope you're not delusional enough to believe that.

They make $50-60k a year MAX... and I think I'm being generous there.

Honestly most of you are probably not out of high school and don't have a clue about salaries in the real world...

$15k/month = $180,000 / year. That's more than engineers with 20 years work experiences, on par with average doctors salaries, etc..

You really believe someone who plays a video game that ONLY contributes sponsor exposure makes THAT much money?

Seriously, you people need to get a clue.

You got no idea what you talking about. Stephano will get one of the world´s highest payed salaries for a Starcraft player. 15k$ per month isn't bad guess. I think it will be between 12-16k$ but we will see I'm sure EG will PR the shit out of his salary

And BTW I'm a mechanical engineer I know exactly how much we make!

I can guarantee you that Stephano will not make $15k per month. It's a horrible guess. Remember the WC3 teams when they paid their players enormous salaries for not that much prize money in return--they all died. Stephano might be one of the best foreigners in the world but $180k per year is way too much when you compute all the prize money and streaming money. There's probably money from publicity and sponsors, but even the most popular sc2 players won't make enough money to compensate for that big of a paycheck. Hell, I even doubt HuK even makes six figures. For a guy that makes at most $30k prize money per year, I doubt all the streaming and sponsor money is enough to justify six figures.

true, he'll probably be on like $1000 a month tops imo, if that

$1000 (~800€)? I know how much Socke and HasuObs earn (around) and if Stephano really get 1000$/month in his new contract, my head will explode.

why you think that is too much or too little?

I really don't think there is that much money in esports to pay someone anything close to approaching five figures and have seen no evidence to suggest otherwise

Why do people complain about the "EG Frathouse" slogan? EG try and shove shit in our mouths through their marketing all the time - at least with "EG Frathouse", nobody's getting rich off it.

This is my personal take on why EG gets a lot of flak, including from myself in this regard.

Their business strategy just seems to be a monopoly on Western SC2 eSports. This isn't an issue for stabilized markets, scenes, but SC2 eSports is still very young. We need rivalries and competition, to foster the communities growth. Remember Liquid HuK vs EG IdrA? That was HUGE in our scene, until EG took that away from us. EG has no respect to other teams and the market, leaving teams crippled in their wake. (Mouz, Liquid, until replacements). Look at the future, they will be the kings of the rubble that is left of the market.

Here are some interesting links that someone pointed me toward.

To be honest as an EG fan, I agree. There should be less of a monopoly. I wish EG wasn't as agressive with its contracts but that's how they are. That's the problem people should be focusing on. Not this "fake curse" or "frat house" stuff. Monopolies are capable of destroying industries or in this case e-sports.

There's also the human or interpersonal level. The masses accept that these players are simply better, and perhaps should be able to earn for their efforts. But also, there are great examples of celebrities, sports stars etc, who we follow and love - becoming just distant and frankly arseholes as they continue to accumulate wealth. As a community of SC2, I feel we like the idea of the better players, if not personally interacting with us, but also to be one of us - a person who just likes playing games. I just don't think we're ready to let that go. AS well, EG have Idra, who has always had the contempt for everybody else, which doesn't really help the EG cause.

JYP and Suppy's improvements under EG pretty much dwarfs all of them, except maybe Sheth who has come a very long way. I can also name a number of coL and Liquid players who have either stagnated completely or gotten worse over time. I don't see how EG is any worse at developing players than these teams. People just set ridiculous expectations for EG so they can riot all over the forums whenever an EG player loses.

It's nice that Stephano will get the salary he deserves as the premier foreigner, but I don't like EG buying up everyone.

We're never gonna have another good foreigner rivalry at this rate.

I'm curious to what extent each team tries to 'develop' players. The team houses for EG and complexity seem to be just "stick them in the same building and hope it works", or, at least, that's the implication they give off

You mad? Truth hurts doesn't it? What has trimaster done in the past year instead of getting lucky beating IdrA and Jinro and same goes to Gowser what has he done? Nothing get 1st place in complexity academy? Which it's a joke of a tournament, players who all are in masters and try to become pro.

You want to bash me..? Try a little harder next time.. I go to school and i can bet i am more educated and will be more successful than you any day of the week.. And yeah Sheth is just "ok" what has he done?

Don't get mad, keep your day job.

edit - i also think its funny that your only argument is saying "sheth trimaster goswer are not bad okay thats just dumb" thanks for proving me wrong..

Let's say an example: Hasu earn 500$/month, imo stephano deserve more than double, rather triple or quadruple.
Ofcourse i won't say how much they earn.

Mana told in one of several interviews that he earn 13,5k yearly at mouz. I can say that because he made it public.

You wouldn't pay Mvp 5 figures?

In Germany you get about 800€ unemployment aid. Half of it for habitation which isnt paid in cash. With 800€ you would have to think twice if you really want to work or just get paid by the government. 800€ per month is like the minimum to survive. mouz bigs quit esports because its quite expensive in switzerland. In switzerland you couldnt pay your bills with 800 euros.

It doesnt seem like you know much about how much money you actually need in this world.

you get 400€ for low wage jobs 10 hours/week, i get 800€ for a normal 15h/week student working job. do you see how ridiculous it is to think the best foreign sc2 player would waste his time on esports if he could do something solid with less effort and about the same amount of money?
