Another pro gamer about to make a bunch of money. Awesome for esports! It is too bad more teams can't focus on getting together the money to help support players as much as EG, but at least someone out there is doing it.

The guys saying EG has no fan base, have you ever looked at stream numbers? Fan pages on TL? They are all the biggest streamers and have the most hardcore fans, heck InControl is the source of more media attention than almost anybody in Starcraft 2. They have the stability to make these big moves because of their popularity.

I remember reading somewhere that Incontrol makes Thousands coaching and usually has a packed schedule.

Good move for EG, and Stephano. Hopefully he will have continued success so its good for the scene also.

Bought players achievements since joining EG:
PuMa: IEM S6 Cologne, NASL S2, 2nd at Dreamhack Winter and IEM S6 WC, 3rd at IEM Guangzhou and ASUS ROG Winter
HuK: MLG Orlando, 3rd MLG Winter Arena, 4th MLG Winter Championship
JYP didn't really have results in the first place, but has performed well in some tournaments.
Thorzain didn't bomb out in Code A/S and has only played one tournament since on EG.

It's okay, just keep watching their performance. Keep following all of the EG players. The plan is working, whether they succeed or not your eyes are directly on their sponsors.

BTW, I hope EG does land Stephano. They both deserve the best.

Well, we don't need to continue this discussion. I would be just sad if Stephano joins them.

I think most of EG's SC2 brand relies on Incontrol and Idra, who are both quite strong personality. They aren't at the very top right now from a result point of view, but Idra's stream has many thousand viewers whenever he streams and the various talk shows they do are very appreciated. From a sponsor point of view, that's very interesting.

Really disappointed I have to admit. EG have an absolutely terrible track record with talent. They take them in, and then they break them. They just don't do "maintain/improve this player".

Now with Stephano joining the failure-producing EG machine too...ugh. Goodbye foreign hope. Had such high hopes for him for Code S too

Only if you are only looking at a list of achievements without taking any context into consideration. Some where overhyped, some just didn't improve, some had other obvious reasons for the decline that have no connection to them being on EG, some haven't had much chance to prove themselves and some have been reasonable successful. There's only a massive decline in your head and much of it have little to do with the fact that they are signed with EG. It has become a self fulfilling profecy at this point. People take any failure from an EG player and and attribute it to them being on EG. You can also do a test and compare it to other big foreign (and several korean) teams and look how players have evolved before and after signing with a team. There's not much difference from EG's players other than EG being a more high-profile team, making them an easy target for these sort of weird discussions.

The only way there's a massive decline is if you count performance for the dollar which might be true but very strange view of things since we live in the real world where onces performance is not proportional to the amount of money you earn.

I can understand all the "another player down the shitter" comments. Thorzain didn't exactly improve under EG. Nor did JYP. I don't remember the last time I saw an EG player win a major tournament or make it to the finals of GSL. But I guess go where the money is right?

It seems every player EG brings in isn't very well thought over, they just ask "who is doing well right now?". I don't think they would care which race, what personality that player has or how would that player would blend in to the team, rather than can we give this guy a can of monster and earn big bucks off them while he streams. It's true that EG aren't doing particularly well in terms of tournament results, and especially their bigger players are producing bad results, so maybe that's why they "need" Stephano, but I don't like how they are buying foreigners out like this. The foreign scene is unbelievably stagnant with what seems to be dominated by two teams, EG and Liquid. My interest in the foreign scene has disappeared now as teams like Mill, Quantic, Mouz, Dignitas are unable to hold onto their star players, that what makes the Korean scene much, much more interesting when their are multiple teams which multiple players with a lot of talent which makes it much more competitive.

Huh ? Best offer is subjective. If his choice won't make him grow as a player, i don't see why people would keep rooting for him as a player.

That's funny because EG gives it's players a ton of resources to improve as players and takes them all over the world. The only possible thing that could be a negative playing wise of being on EG is having to do sponsor type work which might give you less practice time. But considering Stephano isnt the type to do 12 hour days I'd guess it wouldnt hurt him.

Hmmm, Stephano to SK sounds lots more sensible to me.

He doesn't seem interested in his team, neither in his teammates (as we saw during the Mille period: never practicing with his teammates, never getting that implicated in the team leagues, ...).
He only needs a sponsor, and joining SK would be much more sensible (well, SK is not only a sponsor but acts like one) for him i guess. As for MC.
