Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything. |

EG has a lot of haters, but they also have vocal supporters, which most foreigner teams lack completely. Liquid has more supporters. SK is well known. Hell, even "team Grubby" is more liked. Now: Where are EG's "vocal supporters" (in this tread)? Basically nobody likes them. They are on twitter, facebook, at MLGs. That is how sponsors gauge support, not by reading reddit or teamliquid. By the way, EG player fan club threads are some of the biggest ones on TL.
Must be that way. If they watched the results, they might realize that they are sponsoring the losers. Sending more players to the MLG than anybody else, still not getting results.
Well, we don't need to continue this discussion. I would be just sad if Stephano joins them.

I could spin it another way. EG is usually the center of a lot of drama and hell Alex has acquired a lot of programs/shows/talent/ad space/etc.
EG personifies America in the flesh.
The other teams are rather quiet compared to EG.
I could make another connection to the old nation wars we used to have in BW.
For example, Geoff would always be flooding the forums about the USA B War Machine. This is honestly no difference in the way they churn out exposure.
With that said, there is still a lot of support for other teams out there. Don't always have to be so vocal on such matters.

Not that I hate EG, but I am a bit confused on how EG is getting so much money and why sponsors keep flocking towards them when there are so many other teams that post more results and dare I say, deserve great sponsorship as well. They're like the biggest team in the US, so would sponsors help them or other unstable team like Check Six? u could probably name a few eg sponsors right? how many millennium, mouz, fxo, i7 sponsors can you name?

Probably because you only watch SC2. EG are without a doubt the strongest fighting game team in the western world, they had one of the last great 1.6 teams from the US, they have a successful DOTA 2 squad. Adding on to that in SC2 they have players who are super easy to market and players who are strong contenders for every tournament they enter so they have a perfect mish-mash of talent, potential talent and marketing accompanied by strong players.

stephano said when he was in eg house, he talekd to machine and alot guys but NOT to idra because you cant talk to him about strats, idra just not give your words money so if stephano say "you play zvp wrong to win make this this this" idra will only be bm... no chance he can help to improve idra sda but idra would have to change his personality

Good for Stephano and EG, bad for the scene.

Probably helps to have roughly half a billion sponsors.
It's kinda weird how EG just buys everyone. That's really all I can say to this. It's not wrong or so but I certainly don't like it either.

EG reputation is bad, who would really want to be associated with them?
If Stephano goes EG, I'll will lose another favorite player. Everyone would want to be associated with EG. They're the team that's doing the best job of getting their name out there. For comparison: How many sponsors of EG can you name, and how many of Millenium can you name (without checking Liquipedia)? Almost all of their players are known throughout the community, i.e Idra, incontrol, Huk, Thorzain. Sponsors want to have their product and name known, and EG is probably the best team for that kind of thing. To be honest: I can't name any sponsors, since I'm not sure which of the sponsors like Razor is sponsoring which team. But even thou their players are known, I don't follow any of those anymore. They suck. They started sucking since they joined EG. And if I ever knew a sponsor that is exclusively sponsoring EG, it would lessen the probability I buy something from them. Compare that to TLAF: They seem sympatic to me for their engagement with Liquid. Basically companies should do some research about the teams the sponsor....they might notice something. Being well known as a villain isn't that good if you want to sell something. Bought players achievements since joining EG: PuMa: IEM S6 Cologne, NASL S2, 2nd at Dreamhack Winter and IEM S6 WC, 3rd at IEM Guangzhou and ASUS ROG Winter HuK: MLG Orlando, 3rd MLG Winter Arena, 4th MLG Winter Championship JYP didn't really have results in the first place, but has performed well in some tournaments. Thorzain didn't bomb out in Code A/S and has only played one tournament since on EG. Doesn't seem too bad to me?
But it is. Tell me how many results those players got before they joined, how many directly afterwards and how many after they have stayed with EG for more than 6 month. Perhaps I'm wrong, still it feels like they all declined massivly.

Well, hopefully Stephano picks the right team and if he does end up with EG, hopefully he continues to play outstandingly.

Millenium don't have the money for a player with this level and this succes . Huk when he won the MLG he went to Liquid. and know Stephano it's the same. Btw they are know in the same team :D

Yes to CS, yes to their fighting game roster as for the rest. Not sure of Dota2 because I don't really follow those games but for SC2 nah man those guys hit their stride before joining and many have fallen off.
It's all about the marketing.

My favorite foreign player in the same team as my least favorite, goddamnit >_>
