Stephano leaving Millenium, [possibly] to EG - Page 34

Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything.

That said, I find how EG presents itself to be very banal, boring & corporate. Pandering hard to sponsors isn't funny or endearing to me, it's pathetic and campy. The stream overlays are a good example of how sponsors are put first, aesthetics second. I've never seen so much shit crammed on my screen at once. So, for a team or an organization, they don't have a particularly interesting legacy (think SlayerS, founded by Boxer!), and they don't seem to care about advancing players skill, just "ESPORTS" as some sort of consumable product, which, the way they're going about it, is pretty uninspiring to me. If SC2 was on ESPN, but it had an EG overlay, I wouldn't watch it. Basically I have problems with the EG overlay. Solid post. EG always get a lot of credit for their marketing but to me their marketing is pretty weak, all they do is whore themselves to their sponsors and are a lot more shameless about it than other teams, the "content" they put out amounts to little more than a couple of dudes in a room talking, hardly ground breaking, their players have good streams but they have to otherwise people would forget them as apart from Puma they are never in the later stages of tourneys. Stephano has gone full Iggy Pop, make sure to swig that monster can . . .

No idea why you would consider TL an american team. But even with TL I would say that Millenium is the richest if that's true.

EG has a lot of haters, but they also have vocal supporters, which most foreigner teams lack completely.

For comparison: How many sponsors of EG can you name, and how many of Millenium can you name (without checking Liquipedia)? Almost all of their players are known throughout the community, i.e Idra, incontrol, Huk, Thorzain. Sponsors want to have their product and name known, and EG is probably the best team for that kind of thing. To be honest: I can't name any sponsors, since I'm not sure which of the sponsors like Razor is sponsoring which team. But even thou their players are known, I don't follow any of those anymore. They suck. They started sucking since they joined EG. And if I ever knew a sponsor that is exclusively sponsoring EG, it would lessen the probability I buy something from them. Compare that to TLAF: They seem sympatic to me for their engagement with Liquid. Basically companies should do some research about the teams the sponsor....they might notice something. Being well known as a villain isn't that good if you want to sell something.

More than their sponsors, the get a shit load of money from their website (about many games, daily updated) and their WebTVs (they have 3 channels).

It's true, but what is even more crazier is that Idra makes this much too.

Interesting, i did not know Millenium had that much money to spend on salary's, because EG's offer must be really high. The Millenium website almost has monopole on the French community about everything game related. That's a lot of traffic and a lot of money.

Well to be fair he has gotten a lot of titles and actually the amount of titles rivals every Korean player at least for international events and this year and every ranking that ive seen puts him at least top 5. Plus its pretty silly to say the best player always wins or gets far in GSL you could get a bad draw and get placed against Seed or Taeja (who id say are number 1 and 2 in the world at the moment) in the early rounds and get your ass kicked no matter how good you are. Stephano still hasn't been put through a tournament that you have to prepare for but still in the tournaments that you can't prepare for he has shown for a good long time that he can take down anyone and is the player to fear when you get put against. And its not even though gimmicky play or cheese its straight up high level Starcraft.
