Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything. |

Since EG is a "bossy" team and Stephano is a "bossy" player - makes sense to me if he joines EG. But it´s true that EG has to make some mentionable finishes in major tournaments. Maybe Stephano can help out with that. Yep, EG-players are constantly to be found in top GM, but to make a very deep cut in the history of SC II they need players, which eventually WIN tournament(s).
No matter what, I love EG, I like the attitude of the rockstar Stephano. Would be fine with him joining EG
oh and btw: best ladder-player worldwide: EG.DeMusliM !!

Also people seem to forget that there is at most like 5 actually really consistent players in the entire fucking sc2 scene, ALL players has they're up and downs and if there's a EG player that to start to slump, even if it's several months after he joins the team it's obviously because of the "EG_CURSE!!!"
Look at Naniwa, DRG, MMA, SaSe, MaNa, Nestea etc.. I could go on all day naming people who is or has been in a huge slump even though they're not on EG, lol.
I'm not even a particularly big fan of EG, but seriously all this hate and shit about the eg_curse is just embarrassing and retarded.

Where is Thorzain winning Wcs Sweden which is one of the hardest right after korea?
thorzain hasnt gotten any worse at EG but i think its fair to say he hasnt gotten any better. an above average white guy who has strong mechanics and decision making but doesnt ever cheese/mix up strat and doesnt play agro enough to use terran to its fullest potential. keeping up his record of 1 decent victory a year under EG isnt bad considering the amount of good koreans at every league these days but considering the opportunities hes had with EG, slayers house training, a frat house whenever he wants to go to the US, a better salary to have a better out of game life, aka less stressed etc - he hasnt improved as far as ive seen since he was on mouz.
so maybe its not fair to say hes cursed to be awful since joining EG but considering all the talk, nothing has happened.
i really hate it in general when people just glance at results and try to imply some level of skill, using that logic we could conclude that fruitdealer is the 10th best player in the world and bitbybit was the first consistent pro in sc2. laughable statements if you dont look at the games, opponents and context.
idra is another person who puts out frankly crap results while having the best chances in the world, best training, most oppotunities to go to any event he wants etc. people often shit on idra as being terrible, but watch his games against taeja at asus rog and he seemed really quite good. people forget that either by placement or by invite idra more often than not plays against code s koreans, so ye they make him look a bit bad, but on the whole hes still top 5 white guys in the world (imo).
everyone likes to point to the eg curse, and i think there is some truth to it, some of the results, rate of improvement (or lack thereof) and attitude is seriously questionable from the "premier north american esports team" or are they a "new media agency" now? i forget. but people on both sides of the isle are such a bunch of derps at constructing the arguments.
what a waste of 4k post

Thorzain won the WCS Swedish nationals, and Swedish championship after that. For the WCS Morrow, SaSe and Naniwa played and he still won, in the final against SortOf. At least that one would count as major.
And other than that, he had been traveling a lot during the time of MLG Summer, GSL and Dreamhack Summer and had not practiced much.
Fly to the US MLG Pro circuit - 8th of June Fly to Sweden DH summer - 18th of June Swedish Championship - 18th of June Fly to Korea GSL Season 3 - 27th of June Fly to the US
I would not call that an EG curse, but not optimal time for preparation.

He hasn't posted any results, and went out in first round of TSL4 when defending his title... Guess it's easier to argue when you can just talk out of your ass and not put any effort into verifying your statements? You're forgetting a 1st place finish and a code A performance . Which Code A performance ? He lost in Code A against arguably the worst known korean PvTer in the world. Oh you mean the guy who took the best player in the world to game 7 in his first code s finals? Let's hear you explain that away . And please compare advancing out of the first round of code A to other foreigner performances . Have you ever heard about JYP ? I guess no. Also FYI he didn't advance out of the first round of Code A as he finished 3rd in his Code S group. Get your facts right before acting all high and mighty.
Ah, my mistake about JYP. Although "worst Korean PvTer in the world" is as you know an exaggeration. We maybe could change it to "worst code A PvTer at the time" in which case it's not saying much given the level of talent in code A. And yes you could nitpick about whether it was technically the first round of code A that he won, but it does seem like you're intentionally ignoring the gumiho victory which is interesting.

HerO still performs well man. I don't know what the heck you are talking about when it comes to him. As for the rest, they didn't really do shit to begin with.
Jos is the same Jos as old from BW. He gets some decent results here and there but doesn't break out.
tlo managed to tie a few wins together, but other than that. I always viewed him as a poster boy. Nothing more; nothing less.
Hayder actually does decent at MLGs. I used to ride his ass right before TSL3 and begged the question why. Victor has known Jos, Hayder, and Jon-o for a very long fucking time.
Jos and Hayder you can make an argument for. Jon-o's been on staff for a long time and always had that ambition so Naz took him on it plus he's retired. Something everyone should have seen coming for a long time. Guy lost his passion ages ago.
The guy posting Liquid's new recruits wasn't off the mark at the time of it's posting considering Liquid as of right now is pretty much a 1-2 team.
When's the last time Zenio's been relevant if at all?
Grasping for straws in all the wrong places.
I wouldn't say Liquid is like Oz when Jae was pretty much carrying them. Khan had a pretty good 1-2 punch for a long time. Maybe more like Khan.

JYP is getting better in EG....
*looks into GSL Season 3* No JYP there. With all the Koreans in foreign tournaments Puma does not win a lot either. Idra defeated Bomber in October last year and has declined in skill since. DeMuslim is a mid tier foreigner, not more not less.
What can be said is that EG does not have the strictest practice routine... I just hope Stephano can stay in france or Korea, hopefully with TSL.

Way to early to call it on that bud. Nationals are just that. Nationals. Naniwa has been slipping because of his GSL preparations. He hasn't done well in the LAN tournaments for a while now and it shows. I wouldn't give Nationals that much weight if at all because normally more than one tournament happening at the same time as it at the given location and it's only Nationals.
Look at WCG Nationals and you'll sort of see what I mean. Sweden is a great nation for SC2, but I'd say anyone of them could have won it on any given Sunday.

All the players are there for the money in the end. speculating of his choice is pretty lame. And his new contract must be pretty sick from what his manager stated

Probably the best move for Stephano, It could be interesting if he signed up with Team8 or something around the BW lines :D

also where are people getting the information from when they say everyone who goes to EG gets worse/lose talent? the only player to join EG that has since dropped off is HuK...... Well TL isn't known for buying the scene's top players, moving them into a frat house, and allowing them to fall off due to poor training regimens. Their players (and managers ffs) also don't parade around the community causing drama all over twitter, reddit, TL forums, and everywhere else because they didn't get their new Ferrari in the right shade of pink.
TL is more respectable than EG, and as far as I'm concerned, the criticism that EG is receiving recently is much deserved.
That said, I think Stephano is one of the few foreigners that will likely do well on whatever team decides to pick him up. It sounds to me like he's most interested in the money, as if to "cash out" on this game in a competitive sense. This seems like a good way for him to pay for his schooling, and hopefully segue into a decent career without having to deal with all of the financial b.s. and student loan debt that I'm sure a lot of us are all too familiar with.
Good luck to him

Yeah with regards to Jon-o. He actually exceeded my expectations of him as a player. Not only winning Dallas but going on to top 4 in consecutive GSLs isn't bad and then he fell off.
